Our ME Experience

We had some very unquie travel plans and I think this made the ME pre planning very difficult. We had 1 reservation and 2 families traveling on different flights arriving at different times with a hotel switch in the middle of our stay. We received our first set of tags 3 weeks before we arrive and it had the right hotel, but wrong arrival date and not all the correct flight information. The TA called and tried to straighten it out and finally did, but when the next set of tags arrived they were for the 2nd hotel from which we were departing from. Given that we were 2 weeks out and I still had to send tags to the other family, I called myself and made sure all of our travel information was in the computer and they sent a 4th set of tags. (had already sent a 3rd to the travel agent). The ME CM said if the tags do not arrive in time, just to bring luggage claim to ME desk and they will handle it. She assured us we would have a magical experience. Finally tags 3 and 4 arrived and all different, but we found a set that had the right resort and date of arrival. Express mailed them to other family.

we arrived at the ME desk at 2:30pm in the afternoon and it was crowded. But the line moved fast and when we got to the desk, they did not have our return flight information. So we went through all that which took about 10 minutes, becuase the ME CM was new working the computer. In the line for our bus and it took about 20 minutes waiting before we were off. CM during the wait said the best time to arrive is in the evening for minimal waits.
The other family arrived at 5pm and no wait in a line at all. No one asked about their return flight. The were on the bus and moving within 10 minutes.

We had left the stroller under the bus and because we were so tried we did not notice until after we checked in. We called and left a claim with ME.
2 Hours later we were going out to meet the other family and we saw the bell service bringing our luggage in, along with our stroller. Yeah!

The other Family's bags arrived about 2 hours later as well. It worked out great.

The other family started getting calls about 2 days before saying they did not have their outbound flight information. They got this call 3 times and each time they called they were told it was already in the computer. Last time the CM said they always set the computer to remind them to call 3 times, because some families do forget to return the call.

We were on american and on the day of departure, check our bags with Airport personal at the resort at 7am for a 6pm flight. It was great. Our departing bus was schedule 2 hours and 45 minutes before our flight.
The other family had to take their luggage with them and the bus driver just dropped it on the curb. They had to find a cart and then haul it upstairs, because there were no porters to be seen.

All in all, I would say it was a good experience once we got past the tag problem.

I also received tags with the incorrect date of departure-so I called me and they said all the info in their system had the correct info and we should be fine. Everything worked out great-we arrived at mco 9pm and checked into poly by 10:15pm-there were no waits-must be the nite thing. :dog2:

You need bus tickets and a scheduled bus time for the homebound trip, but you can get or change these as late as a day before checkout, at the resort.

You can cross out an incorrect resort name and write in the correct resort name on the yellow ME tags.

That's the part I'm kind of worried about for my next trip. I'm going solo with Southwest. I'm also flying and camping. I'll have 3 checked bags, a carryon, a personal item, and an ECV. I HAVE to have a porter to get to checkin.

I think I'm going to hunting for the phone number of the porter service company at MCO. Maybe I can call them on my cell phone if no porters are in sight.
