~Our March 'Just Engaged',freezing,and full of surprises trip~Updated 6/23 p.76

I love the monorail loop, too. It's one of those things that's just pure Disney :goodvibes

GF is so pretty. I wonder if the Basin store was recently put in there? Their soaps smell sooo good. Last time I walked out with 4 soaps in my hand, I couldn't resist!

One of the ladies here is doing a Grandma and me trip (5 yo granddaughters 1st Disney trip and 1st plane trip) and I directed her to your TR and told her she HAS to see all your great pictures!!!!:surfweb:

I spy some manly men hanging out in Basin, and they appear to be very involved in looking at the soaps.

I'm like you - I love going in Basin, I enjoy buying soaps as gifts, but I can't buy one for myself. I have three I have been given, but they are for display only! :)

I didn't know there were Hidden Mickeys. Are you talking about in the carpet? I only know about the ones in the marble floor, and I forgot to take pictures of those last trip. I'm going to get those this summer. (No time on this short weekend trip to resort hop.)

Next Friday, by lunchtime, I will be back there! :dance3:

I'm liking the title of this. :)

Haha, yes they were looking around for a few minutes!

Yep, I'm talking about on the carpet. You'll have to look!

That's so exciting! Take a pic of my building for me!! (You remember our room faced the parking lot)

I've been reading and keeping up but haven't had a chance to comment since I read while my hands are holding my breakfast! Thanks for giving me something to read in the morning.

I didn't get a chance to go to Basin this time at DTD; I really wanted to check it out because I've never been in there. Unfortunately, my dad was all ready to leave DTD so quickly that I didn't even step foot in World of Disney! I'd have the same issue as you have. I'd like to buy something, but then I wouldn't want to use it!

Aw, glad I could make your morning a little more exciting!

Yayyy I love when I'm surprised by your updates LOL You did this late last night and you knew I was already :cloud9:

I love hearing about all the great memories you and your family have from all your trips to WDW, including the ones from the GF. I took a lot of vacations as a kid but you know my parents aren't Disney people and it makes me sad that they're not when I hear your wonderful stories :sad2: I act like I was a deprived child when I definitely wasn't :rotfl2:

That's sooo funny that your fiance was taking paparazzi pics of you! I remember asking you if you saw the teddy bear lady.

We have to get some soaps/bath bombs from Basin in July, ok?? :thumbsup2

LOL I know. I wanted to text you but I knew you were sleeping!!

I love telling all my memories. :goodvibes

Haha, I knew you'd remember asking me!

Okay, you have to help me pick something out!!

Is it so lame that in my mind's eye, I hear him? :rotfl:

I love doing the monorail loop. Poly and the Grand Floridian are fabulous resorts that are great to visit and shop in. One of my gols in June is to do the monorail loop just for shopping purposes.

I've never been inside Basin, but it's now one of the things on my to do list. We're redoing our bathrooms (painting and redecorating) and I think I need a trip to Basin to put some finishing touches on it all.

No way I'm using that soap, though.

I can hear him too!!

I hope you get to do the monorail loop and Resort hop! We love it!

You need to check out Basin!!

Oh my gosh, girl. That little piece of audio is my absolute favorite. Well, actually I really love the entire resort monorail spiel, but the "Aloha" part is my favorite. We've pretty much always stayed at the Polynesian, and every time we board the monorail, my sister and I recite the line right along with Mr. Monorail-Voice Guy. So you're definitely not alone in that. We also quite enjoy recting the lines about the Wedding Pavillion. Why? I'll never know.

Also, I totally agree with you that nighttime is the best time at WDW. Everything is lit up, and there's just a feeling of magic in the air. It's perfect. :cloud9:

Haha, not only do I recite, but I also point. :rotfl:

Aww I am going to miss staying at the GF on this trip!! I am sure WL is just as lovely, but GF holds a special place in my heart. :lovestruc

I love all the pictures & Full House references! No matter how many times I have seen the Disney episode, if it is on, I am watching it. :lmao:

WL is beautiful!! We've stayed at the VWL several times!!

OMG! I just started reading and check it out....I was there at the same time. Y'all got there the day before I left. And how about this for small worlds....same building at POP! I was on the other side that didn't face the parking lot! 2nd floor too!!!:cool2:

That is crazy!! Too bad we didn't know about each other!

Both my girls love the Grand. We've never stayed and I doubt we ever will but we love to visit. It's Danielle's dream resort. I keep telling her we can't stay there unless we win the lottery.

It is a wonderful place to relax after being in the parks. We saw the teddy bear lady in Feb, but I didn't approach her.

It is fun to visit, even if you're not staying there. Tell her to save up and she can stay there on her honeymoon! That's what Sis wants to do.

Yeah, when we saw the teddy bear lady in June, we didn't talk to her either. I didn't know what to say!

What a great update! I've actually never visited a Basin store and I can't wait to do that in Sept. All those soaps look so pretty! I know what you mean about not wanting to use them. I love riding the monorail too. I could stay on it all day! It seems like you two had a great day at WDW.

Thanks!

You have to check out Basin!!

hahaha, love the Full House reference! :rotfl: I was so sad because the first part of the WDW episode was on last night but it was on at the same time as the AI results. I know, pathetic considering I've seen every Full House episode about 100 times.

That is so funny you know the whole monorail spiel. Love it!

Aw man, I missed it! I was in class at that time. Mom always texts me though to tell me who gets voted off AI.

I love the pictures of the GF it is my favorite resort to visit. I can't wait to visit Basin this summer and get the 10% discount with my Annual pass. I also love listening to the music.

Thanks! No way- that store has a 10% discount if you use your annual pass?! I will have to do that!

hi, thanks for the update!:thumbsup2
In the basin store, are those tubes on the right hand side in your pic for the bathbombs?
I never really go into the store because of my allergies. but i want to get some for gifts when i go back in October.
:)

Thanks!

They might be bathbombs..I don't really remember. I'm sorry!

The GF looks so beautiful. How nice that you have so many family memories there! :goodvibes

It is such a beautiful Resort!

I love the monorail loop, too. It's one of those things that's just pure Disney :goodvibes

You're right, it is pure Disney!!

I can't remember when Basin opened up there. I'll ask when we're there in July!

Aw, thanks!!!

Nice update....

It is relaxing walking around the GF. The band is awesome... we saw them when we were there too!

How funny that your BF was taking candid pics of you... LOLOL

I can't wait to read your next update! :yay::yay:

We have booked a nice Sunday breakfast at the GF Cafe on Memorial Day weekend. Any recommendations on spots to explore would be greatly appreciated!

Also, do you think that the front desk would be willing to hold onto my DD(6)'s Cinderella costume for us that day? We will be traveling back to the GF later that evening to do 1900 Park Fare, and would love to have the dress there, in case we do not have time to get back to our resort from wherever we end up.

Hm..spots to explore at the GF..I do recommend going in the Basin store if you've never been. The GF is really just one of those places where you can sit in the lobby, listen to the music, and relax. That's what we mainly do at the GF. If the weather's nice, you could head out to the beach/boat dock area. Great view of the MK.

You could call and ask the front desk now if they would be willing to do so. I don't see why not? :confused3

Loved the GF update - that resort is awesome!

Thanks!!

Dh and I ate at Biergarten last year when we went. I believe I already shared that in my TR. I liked the food a lot. The restaurant is a buffet style, so you can pick and choose what you want to eat- which is good. There was a lot of sausage type things when I went. I like German food- so I like sauerkraut and sausage and all the german things.. but DH wasn't to satisfied. He said nothing was gross but it wasn't his favorite place. He said it didn't compare to Cape May Cafe or Boma. But if you like German food, you will probably like it! And they have good beer! =D

You are lucky to have stay at GF! I would love to stay there..I will someday..

The picture and angle of the stairs reminds me of Titantic! hehe It's so beautiful there! Thanks for sharing!

Well maybe your DF was taking pics of you but at least he wants to take pics.. cause my DH isn't a picture taker!

Day 4 continued: March 16, 2010

We left off finishing up our Oktoberfest beer and checking out the rest of Germany. They had the most hilarious shirts in one of the gift shops. They had guys and girls versions of the shirts..and they were meant to look like we were wearing the tops like they do at Biergarten, which is a place Kristen is trying to talk me into eating at with them. We’re going to check out the menu and prices, so we’ll see. I’d love to hear anyone else’s experiences when eating there.

As we were leaving Germany, we ran into these interesting bonsai trees (I think that’s what they were- I can’t remember!) :

323-1.jpg

As we were walking into China, we saw this little guy:

324-1.jpg

He was made out of corn and some other stuff. Again, it was amazing to see how much detail they put into the F&G Festival for just a few months of “magic”. I’ve always seen pics of the Festival on the DIS from other’s TR’s etc. and it was exciting to be seeing everything in person!

Walking in China…

325-1.jpg

Fiancé waited behind me a few steps and took a pic of me walking haha:

326-1.jpg

I don’t know if you can tell, but I’m looking around. I’m always doing that at WDW. I’m trying to take everything in. It’s something I do everywhere we go there. It’s my “happy place” and I’ve waited and planned for so long to be back there…so I want to take it all in and remember it when I’m back home again. Please tell me that some of you are like that too!

We walked inside the building and instantly, our eyes were drawn up to the ceiling. It was amazing and beautiful. How had we not gone in here before?!

327-1.jpg

It was honestly so busy in there that we decided to leave, so we didn’t get to really check out the place as much as we would’ve liked to. Normally, we don’t let crowds and such bother us that much, but the people here were just being rude. I was being pushed and bumped into so many times!

We walked by The Lotus Blossom Café as we were heading to leave China. The menu doesn’t look too bad. Anyone been there before? We kept walking and saw this guy made out of corn:

328-1.jpg

The sign is talking about how 2010 is the Year of the Tiger. Seriously, we were amazed at the things they can make out of random things!

Up next: Norway. Fiancé loved the architecture here:

329-1.jpg

Norway is one of the countries that I can relate to a little besides the US, HA. I am part Swedish, so they sometimes have Swedish stuff in the gift shops here. But, it usually is never anything too exciting. Maelstrom is a usual with us, but the wait was 30 minutes! Heck no! We are not waiting 30 minutes for that. So, we’ll just have to check that one out in July!

I had remembered that they sell some fleece stuff here, so we decided to walk into the gift shops and check out how much their fleece jackets were. Wowza- SO EXPENSIVE. I can’t remember how much they were exactly, but it was ridiculous. We carefully put it back on the rack and walked away. HAHA. That’s how I feel in the perfume part of the shop too. It’s like, you have to keep saying in your head, “Do not break anything. Do not bump anything. Just look quick and get out!” HA.

As we left the gift shops and Norway, we had to take a pic of the awesome Viking:

330-1.jpg

And some more of Norway’s architecture:

331-1.jpg

Just by looking through all the countries, isn’t it amazing how different the architecture is in each one? Like here in Norway, I noticed how dark the wood and everything is. But, then in Mexico, everything is bright, lively, and full of color. That’s what makes Epcot so amazing..we get a little taste of these countries that most of us will never get to experience in real life.

We left Norway and walked back into Mexico, which we had already explored earlier in the day. We decided to head back over to Nemo and see if the wait went down. But first, I wanted to take a pic of where we were sitting way over across the lagoon in Germany. Can you spot it?!:

332-1.jpg

We walked a few more steps, looked down and saw these guys:

333-1.jpg

They were obviously not afraid of us! We watched them for a few minutes and then went on our way. Yes, people looked at us like we were nuts for watching them..but it’s the little things in life that we like. Being from the Midwest, we love our animals! haha

We made our way to Nemo and saw that they were not weaving outside anymore! That’s a good sign. We got closer and saw that the wait time was only 5 minutes! We made our way inside and kept walking…and walking..and walking..and walked right on the ride! I swear, the 5 minutes was just the weaving to get onto a clam-mobile!

Oh, how I love Nemo. The one thing that annoys me is when people are constantly taking pictures with their flash. I understand a pic or two..but not during the whole.entire.ride. Okay, rant over.

After singing along with Nemo and his friends to “Big Blue World”, we made our way into The Seas and over to the aquarium. Now here is where we had the best surprise of the night!

We were just watching the fish swim by and I talked about how Uncle Joey and Uncle Jesse did their radio show from in there (That’s a Full House reference for all you fans!)..when we saw some divers jump in from the top! Soon more divers jumped in too! They stayed at the top for a few minutes, then made their way under water. The group of divers were all watching a few instructors, who kept giving everyone the ok sign, which they had to give back to them to say they were alright. Then, they started swimming, and that’s when a whole group of people run up to the glass next to us. They had video cameras out filming and cameras out taking pics. The little boy in the group kept yelling “That’s my daddy!” It was so cute! They were all the family of the group of people scuba diving! It was so neat to watch them all excited and enjoying the experience with the group in the water. As they’d swim out of view from one glass window, they’d run to the next one so they could still see them. We watched the divers for awhile, then decided to head back out to FW.

We were getting hungry and decided now would be the perfect time to eat at Sunshine Seasons. It wasn’t too busy there because we were eating close to 7 pm. We got our food choices and found a table right away. As you can guess, I had the California sushi rolls and a fruit bowl. Fiancé had the chicken and a fruit bowl. Of course, the food was good as always. While we were eating, we decided what we wanted to do next. We wanted to get one more ride in on SE before we headed to check out the GF.

As we headed that way, we decided to skip it and just head over to the GF. As we were walking past, I had to take a pic of the beautiful sunset on SE:

335-1.jpg

As we headed to the exit, we saw this sign thanking us for visiting the Festival:

336-1.jpg

I could not believe that we were coming to an end of another day. Isn’t it amazing how fast the days go by when you’re having fun?! I pictured us walking in to Epcot earlier that day…full from our wonderful breakfast at Kona. We were excited for the day to come..and now it was already almost over. Yes, I overthink things like this all the time. HA.

We made our way to the bus stops and checked out the list to see what number we needed to go to. This just goes to show you how long it has been since we’ve stayed at a monorail resort! There are no bus stops for these resorts. So, we headed back over to the monorail. There was a huge line and it was packed up there! The monorail that was here was jam packed with people. After a few minutes, the monorail was STILL not moving. We then realized that a door towards the front of the monorail was jammed and was not shutting! There were several CM’s there trying to fix the problem. We were really hoping that all of these people already on the monorail were not going to have to be unloaded! It was already packed up there as it was for the next monorail! Luckily, a few minutes later, they got the door shut and the monorail was on its way. Since that one had taken so much time in the station, there was already one nearby waiting to pull in; so we didn’t have to wait too long!

~Up next:

Our night at the GF

We love the Biergarten. It is one of our favorite places and we eat there every trip. I am the same way when I am at Disney World, I walk around taking everything I can so I can remembering it until I come back again.

OMG... I am like the biggest Full House fan ever. My mom taped the Disney World episode for me when it first aired in the early 90's LOL. I still have it and watched it right before our trip and when my mom and I walked into the GF I said the same thing about Jesse singing to Becky! I wonder how many people walk into the GF and say that every day.

Also, Basin is so amazing that my mom and I have decided to set aside a certain amount of money JUST to spend at Basin so we can stock up on enough to last us until we get to go back. There's a Basin like store in Manhattan called Sabon that i'm obsessed with, but they don't have Mickey heads embedded into their soaps so it's just not the same LOL!

And...yep. I know most everything the Monorail Guy says too. Actually every time you say something like "I hope someone else does this too!" I'm like I DO!! haha. But yeah, as for Monorail Guy... I want to marry him so that he can whisper sweet nothings into my ear all night long. And by sweet nothings I mean "Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas."

I can't wait for more!!popcorn::

P.S. It is just too cute that your fiance is always taking candid/paparazzi shots of you!

I enjoy all the different architectural features, also. There are so many different styles of buildings.

We'll be in Epcot Saturday morning and possibly again Sunday afternoon before we leave. I think we are going to forget about Soarin' this time (we have plenty of time to do that this summer), ride Nemo and Figment for the girls, and then just enjoy all the Flower & Garden stuff. Brooklynn will really like the Butterfly Garden more this year. :cool1:

Have a good Sunday, friend! :)

Glad I'm not the only one like that at WDW!

Yeah, it's hard to compete with soaps that have Mickey heads in them!

Sounds like we're a lot alike! :)

Haha, that is hilarious. I wonder what the monorail guy looks like!

That is so exciting to say you're going to be there soon! Hope you think of me and all my pics when you're there!

That is crazy!! Too bad we didn't know about each other!

I KNOW!
I kept finding myself looking in your pictures for me! Esp the one of the front of the MK - I was there, waiting for the opening show!

Found your report via MeMom's TR! I have enjoyed reading everything so far and looking forward to more! x

Day 5: March 17, 2010

St. Patty's Day. The day we had the best morning. Ever. The whole time everything was happening, I could not wait to write this day of my TR and share it all with you.

We woke up at 6 am. again. Yes, you read that right…6 am. We loved getting up early and seeing WDW while everything was still peaceful and quiet. It really is an eye-opening experience to see WDW like that. It’s almost like a calm before the storm. And by storm, I mean the chaotic crowds and lines.

Thanks to MeMom, Tim, and the Pop thread, I was so excited to walk around and explore Pop for the first time. The sun was still coming up, so everything was still lit up. It was so much fun just walking around with Fiancé and enjoying ourselves.

The building across from ours:

356.jpg

Aww..some more Pac Man!:

357.jpg

Fiancé was so excited to see Roger Rabbit. As you can see, the ground looked like a keyboard:

358.jpg

This laptop was so neat!:

359.jpg

The humongous Walkman:

360.jpg

MeMom’s friends Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head:

361.jpg

Whenever I saw these mood rings, I thought of my mom. She used to love them.:

362.jpg

Okay, I don’t know why this pic turned out SO dark, but it’s supposed to be of the construction that never got finished:

363.jpg

I HAD to take a pic of this “10-4 GOOD BUDDY” because my little guy and I always say that when we’re pretending to use walkie-talkies, haha:

364.jpg

Ooooh, the famous Twister spot. I’ve seen some cuties playing this game! (Brookie and Ana):

365.jpg

We both loved the humongous Big Wheel!:

366.jpg

Finally, we were approaching the section I was the most excited about. The Mickey phone! We used to have one at my house.:

367.jpg

368.jpg

And then we walked upon this car. And Fiancé was ALL about that, haha:

369.jpg

371.jpg

The big yo-yo stairs:

370.jpg

By then, we were starving! So we made our way to Classic Hall for breakfast:

372.jpg

After many pics of the food court, I was so excited to finally be eating here.:

373.jpg

Anyone who is staying at Pop, I highly recommend checking this place out. There is such a variety of choices to find something to eat. We loved it. We didn’t want to eat a big breakfast since we were having a lunch ADR later, so we shared a breakfast pizza and had OJ and apple juice.

My view at breakfast:

374.jpg

Can you tell we were still a little tired? HAHA

When we were throwing our stuff away, I was stopped again and asked where I got my purse. Everyone was in love with it! So my Sis did a good job!

We walked through the gift shop to the bus stop. Here’s some more pics, MeMom:

375.jpg

376.jpg

We made our way outside and saw that an AK bus was just pulling up! Talk about good timing! We seemed to have that good luck the whole trip. Does anyone else get really excited on the drive over to AK? It takes just long enough to get there to make you anxious. And soon, you look out the right side of the bus and see EE in all its glory. That’s when the excitement really kicks in. I can still remember seeing EE when it was being built. It was just so amazing to see what it started out as and what it is now. I also remember watching those Travel Channel shows about EE and the Yeti after it opened and before we had been on it for the first time. I cannot tell you how excited we were to actually ride it.

**Continued in next post**

**Continued from previous**

Okay, back to arriving at AK. We got off the bus and started heading towards the entrance. I have to tell you that there was hardly anyone there yet. The park still hadn’t opened yet, so we were so excited for our first rope drop!

377.jpg

We’re used to swarms of people!:

378.jpg

379.jpg

Before we got in line for rope drop, I had to make a restroom break. Of course, Fiancé had to take a pic of me going in and coming out, HAHA. As you may be able to see, I had my hands all the way in my sleeves. It was freezing that morning!

Going in…:

380.jpg

Coming out…:

382.jpg

Fiancé had gotten in line…we were the first ones at our turnstile!!!! This pic cannot properly show my excitement! This is my “I’m tired, but excited!” face, haha:

384.jpg

As you can see in the pic, the CM’s were coming out and putting up the rope. We had our eye on a spot and agreed to hurry up there once we could go in. I also noticed the spot where you can check-in for your Tusker House breakfast ADR, which is something we (and Kristen!) will be using in July. A few minutes later, a CM came out to talk to all of us. He tried to use the microphone, but it wasn’t working so he had to yell. He explained to us what was going to happen. Then, CM’s came out and one by one started lining up at turnstiles. Our CM congratulated us after she saw our pins. A few minutes later, they opened up. It was so exciting being the first ones using that turnstile for the day! We practically sprinted up to a spot at the rope.

385.jpg

I was texting probably just about everyone who cared…Kristen, Mom, Dad, Sis, MeMom, and Heather..I was excited beyond words. I kept checking the time every 2 seconds. Finally, we started hearing something! It was Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto!:

387.jpg

388.jpg

They were talking to each other and acting like they were going on a real safari. The best part: the jeep stopped right in front of us!:

390.jpg

392.jpg

Then, they started going through a check list of stuff they needed. First on the list- sunscreen!:

393.jpg

Next on the list- camera!:

394.jpg

Soon, we all had to yell with them: Let the adventure begin!:

395.jpg

396.jpg

Then, they were on their way to continue their “safari”. They kept looking back at us and waving. Of course, I waved back! It was moments like this that brought me back to the feelings I had when I was at WDW during my younger years. It was when the magic was really real. I mean, it’s still real for me..I just try to put the “behind-the-scenes” knowledge in the back of my mind now.:
