Our Magical Trip of a Million Dreams, Wishes & Surprises~Engaged at Disney(6/26 p30)

This is like a TV Drama- I'm DYING to hear about the proposal!! My DH and I are going with friends to WDW in December and I REALLY want them to get engaged there!! (I know, it's not up to me.. but if it was....:) ) Glad to hear you are on your way to becoming a teacher- I have been a teacher for about 10 years now... teachers are the best! Prince Charming... my DH would probably say the teachers make the best wives too- a little bossy sometimes, but the best! :woohoo: Congrats you guys and can't wait to hear the rest of the trip report!

Congratulations on your engagement! I am looking forward to hearing about the rest of your stay.

Yes I am up late too! Awaiting your installment :rotfl2: and its here!!! Just kidding! I am sewing of all things. Making an Ariel outfit for a friends daughter.

Great installment....I really liked the Contemporary too...you should see the new rooms...very modern and sleek. Did you see the crane? Do you think the North Garden area will become DVC??? That would make an excellent wedding gift dont you think??????????????

So dinner at Chef Mickey's sounded awesome....loved all the pics! You DF looks just like his brother. What's up with the silent monorail driver? Did he even give you a "drivers license" card??? It says you were a driver of the monorail. Shucks and golly darn if not....you'll have to get one the next time you go!

I am really looking forward to next installment!

I think a DVC would make a fabulous gift! :rotfl: I was so disappointed when I didnt get drivers license from the monorail driver! However, I think if I got a DVC I would forget all about the monorail driver and not getting a license! :rotfl2:

I'm excited. Sounds like ya guys had better luck than us at CM's with characters than we did.
I have to say we were shocked at all the interaction we got when we when to the character meals. I guess it really just depends on who inside those costumes...:confused3

Sounds like a wonderful Chef Mickey's dinner. I love the pics of you waiting for your table - all happy at first, and then getting bored. Captures the true moods...

Oooh...so your anniversary and MK are next? Could it possibly be the big day???
DM, wherent you reading the big BOLD LETTERS at the end of the installment it clearly states that the next day would be engagement day! :rotfl2:

Great pictures of Chef Mickeys. It brought back the memories of our WDW trip last year. We are going again next month to WDW/DCL. WE live about 30 minutes from Tokyo Disney land and SEA. I get there about once a month. Last year 15 times.
Wow 15 times!!!! How fun, you are so lucky to be going to WDW so soon!!

I loved your Chef Mickey installment!! We are eating breakfast there on our last day at WDW :( The one thing I'm worried most about is being at the buffet when the characters come by :rotfl: I'm glad you got a nice CM to take photos of you - I hope someone will do the same for us seeing as we always have to take photos of each other and we're never in one together!! DBF is looking forward to meeting Donald So am I - I've never met Donald in DLRP, I've met Daisy (see sig) but never Donald, so I am psyched for Chef Mickey's!

I cannot WAIT for the next installment! I know it's going to be a good one ;) How did wearing the anniversary badges for a non-wedding anniversary turn out? It's our 3rd anniversary on July 31st so we're celebrating in WDW also. I'm excited for the CRT review, as we're eating dinner there on our first night
Just ask any of the CM's to take your pictures, they are very nice and always did it for us, you just have to ask although sometimes they will ask for you. Wearing the anniversary buttons was great you will come to see in the next few installements how that turned out! Your awesome trip is soooo soon!!!! :goodvibes  :yay:

Sounds like you had a great meal at CM's!! :thumbsup2 We had the opposite problem the last time we ate dinner there - it took FOREVER to see all the characters!! We've done breakfast a few times since & it is usually less hectic. Your pictures have me re-thinking dinner one day, though...

Can't wait to hear all about your big day at the MK!!!! :)
I am the opposite of you, I really wanted to do a breakfast there because I have never done breakfast at Disney and I always wanted to! I have to say dinner was a blast, I think we just got lucky on how fast all the characters were coming by.

What a wonderful experience at Chef Mickey's! I really want to eat there one of these days and those Mickey Oreo desserts look really yummy. Your pictures of the group waiting for the dinner are hilarious:rotfl:

How cool that you got to ride in the front of the monorail. Too bad the driver was not very interactive.

Can't wait for your next update. I can't wait to hear all about your day the the MK and most importantly the proposal!
I hope you get to go to Chef Mickey;s one day and eat one of those delicious oreo mickey treats!! mmm my mouth waters just thinking of them!!

Let me just say FANTASTIC!! I just love reading all the different places that you have been to with all the different characters. I now want to go to Chef Mickey's, oh god the food porn is getting to me

I just can't wait until this Proposal so bring it on
:lmao: food porn, DF was cracking up at that, he is so silly I think it is his new favorite term. Glad you are enjoying the trippie!

finally! engagement day is next! can't wait to hear all about it...
Soon....

I am joining too:) I have read all of the pre-trip report and now am all caught up on this one. great trip report. You guys are a very cute couple.
Hi and :welcome: I am glad you are enjoying it!

Chef Mickey's looks YUMMY!!

Looking forward to reading about the next day

:bride:
I will be posting an update shortly!! :cool1:

yeah, yeah, yeah, Chef Mickey's --whatever...Just get to the good part!

Great trip report!

I can't wait to hear about the proposal.

Lisa
Thanks so much! :goodvibes Update is coming up soon!

We did Chef Mickey's for breakfast and it was so-so---but the characters were great! And I'm anxiously awaiting your next install!!!
Yeah I keep hearing mixed reviews about character meals, I guess it just depends who is in the suit that day.
Loved the pictures from Cheif Mickey's. That was so cute that Matthew wanted to be a Photography like the CM's, with the back drop and all. So cute. Has anyone every told you that you and DF look like Piper and Leo from Charmed(tv show).
No one has ever mentioned it, DF does not agree though since he watches Charmed. I will have to look up their pictures and let you know :rotfl:
you win.

i'm long time lurker of the DIS. yet i have never joined. obviously i am now a proud member.

why do you win? because i have been reading your trip report and pre trip report all day and i was rather upset when i caught up and reached this killer cliff-hanger you have set up for all of your readers. i am so anxious to hear about the proposal that i FINALLY joined just so i could beg you to HURRY UP! :scared:

so basically, thank you. you finally got me to join. and as a "you're welcome" i think you should hurry up and post the next day!

:welcome: to the DIS! I feel honored that I have forced you out of lurkdom!! I will be posting the next installment soon, i promise! :goodvibes

Cant Wait To Hear The BIG Day!! Yay!!
Lucky for you it is coming right up once I finish responding to all the comments!

Thanks for your great installment on Chef Mickeys...I love the pics! :thumbsup2 We haven't made it there yet, but I'm hoping to in the future. I can't wait for the proposal...I know it's coming up soon! :goodvibes
I hope you get to try out Chef Mickey;s one day, it really is fun and even if you only do it once, it is well worth it!

Wow! Ok Now I'm hungry!!! I 'd love a plate of those Mickey raviolis and mashed potatoes. Those Chocolate peanut butter Mickey head desserts look heavenly! Can you Wonka Vision some to me???

Chef Mickey's is a staple for us. We go every trip, but always for breakfast. After seeing your pics, I think we need to go dor dinner sometime!

I'm glad you got a good waitress who took your picture with the characters. We've never goten lucky like that...usually get someone who clears plates and refills drinks efficiently, but never one who takes pictures for us.

That's great that you got to co-pilot the monorail. Too bad you got a dud of a Cm there, though.

I can't wait for the next installment! My Psychic powers are telling me that you will get engaged in the MK tomorrow!:wizard: :lmao:
It seems everyone does Chef Mickey;s for breakfast...I want to try that one day! You are a wonderful psychic, you dont think the large bold font didnt have anything to do with that? :rotfl2:

Yeah it would be a great wedding gift!!! Is that what you're planning on getting for her?

It's my 10th anniversary this year, and i would love it too, while you're at it
(sorry, I couldn't resist!)
:lmao:

I'm the Fiance and I'm not seeing it...
Shh they think we look like celebrities, do not ruin this for me.

She really has to stop poking me...
You secretly love it!

Hey -- Just wanted to let you know that I just got back from my trip to Disney with my cousins. Your Disney presentation totally helped me stay organized. I'll be starting my trip report soon so make sure you subscribe... :thumbsup2

I cannot wait to hear about the engagement!! :cool1: :cool1:
Aw I am so happy that the itineraries helped you out! I will definitley be subbing to your TR!

:rotfl2:

Your meal looks great and yeah you really must have annoyed Donald for him to give you ears :rotfl2: We rode in the front of the monorail last trip and our driver didn't utter a word either, couldn't have been the same one though as ours was male :rotfl2:
Those two monorail drivers must be related then, it is the weirdest thing, most CMs are just so friendly! And I have never seen Donald Duck so angry as he was at me! I was actually quite frightened...

popcorn:: dying in anticipation popcorn::
It is coming up!

Me too....can I have some popcorn too??? :goodvibes
I want some, oh yeah I forgot I gotta write this TR, no time to eat!

Day 5: Magic Kingdom Part I. ~ Our 5 Year Anniversary and THE BIG DAY!
June 19, 2007

I sprung out of bed bright and early at 7:00 AM, surprisingly I didn’t have to drag DBF out of bed as I usually do (I really should have suspected something right then and there). Our goal was to get to Magic Kingdom as early as possible since there is so much to see and do at that park. There would be no objections from me because MK is hands down my favorite Disney Park.

We said our Happy Anniversaries to each other and then got right down to business, meaning we got ready to celebrate dating 5 years in the Happiest Place in the entire world (what did you think I meant? :rotfl: )

Once we were all showered and ready to go we went downstairs to wait for the others, shockingly they were all ready to go too. Again, I should have suspected something was up because after all his family is never ready on time. I was thinking, this is great we are actually going to get there early! Our anniversary was off to a great start.

We hopped in the car and I was reviewing our itinerary for the day while DBF was driving. We had the entire day pretty much mapped out and the fact that we were going to get there early meant we were probably going to hit everything on our to do list. I was so giddy the entire way to MK and as my true trademark, DBF was getting poked. When we arrived at the MK parking lot gates we noticed that the park was open until 12:00 AM, not 11:00 PM as we thought previously. Our anniversary was off to an even better start! 1 extra hour in the MK is better than Christmas!!!

By 9:00 AM we finally parking our car in the Magic Kingdom parking lot. Of course we still had to hop a tram and hop a monorail before we could even walk down Main Street. I was pretty shocked as to how many people were already in the parking lot, yikes! I could just tell it was going to be a very busy, crowded day at the MK!

After a short and uneventful parking lot tram and monorail ride we had arrived at the Magic Kingdom turnstiles at about 9:30, not too bad! Of course DBF and I made it through the turnstiles before anyone else so we found our favorite people, the Photopass guys (or gals).

DisneyPhotoImage69.jpg

I had been reminding DBF that the first thing we must do on our anniversary was head over to City Hall and pick up our anniversary buttons. We reunited with his family and told them to meet us at City Hall, of course they agreed and we were off. We obtained our buttons pretty effortlessly from the CM’s who were all very nice in saying congratulations but we had to explain that we had been dating 5 years, and weren’t married yet, we had to explain that a lot throughout the day and I think we only ended up confusing people more, more on that later though.

TR009.jpg
Here is what our Anniversary buttons looked like.

His family was waiting for us when we came out of City Hall and DBF and I had our buttons securely pinned on our shirts. I was ready to get this day started, “Off to Main Street!” I yelled. DBF quickly stopped me in my tracks and tells me that he needs a bathroom break, the rest of his family agrees that wouldn’t mind going either. You have got to be kidding me...you small bladdered family.

Luckily there was a bathroom right near City Hall, since my bladder is normal sized I decided to wait and sit on the bench which was right outside the restrooms. This was the longest bathroom break in the history of bathroom breaks, I am not even exaggerating. I was sitting there for what seemed like an eternity and all I wanted to do was get a FastPass for Splash Mountain just like my nice and neat itineraries said to do.

Once everyone was out of the bathroom a good 6 hours later I ask DBF sarcastically if we can go down Main Street now? We head down and there I see Cinderella’s Castle in all of its glory. Oh how I just love the castle and there is nothing like seeing it while walking down good ol’ Main Street USA! We took some pictures (but they are on the disposable camera, once I get those all on CD I will post them) and I asked DBF if we should go and get that FastPass to Splash Mountain, after all we didn’t get here bright and early for nothing. He said that he wanted to check the Crystal Shop on Main Street. We had been promising each other that as Anniversary gifts we would get something engraved on that day, so I just figured he wanted to pick something out so that it would be completed by the time we went home at night.

We went into the store and looked around for a little bit, but we were now separated from his family, who were also shopping in any one of the 50 stores on Main Street. There would be no finding them now. DBF said they didn’t have what he was looking for so we left and tried to find his family. I was thinking, what a great waste of time that stop was. On our way out we got some nice Congratulations by some CM’s and that cheered me up, I love those anniversary buttons! We finally reunited with DBF’s family so we tell them that we are going to go FastPass Splash Mountain and to meet them at Pirate’s of the Caribbean, just like the itinerary said to do. I was all set to sprint to Splash Mountain when Jeanne saw the Dream Along with Mickey Show, she decides that her and Matthew want to see it and we should go get the FastPass to Splash Mountain and meet them at the Castle since by then the show would be over.

Now I am sure you all want to know what was going on in my head at this moment, and lucky for you I will tell you. Let us recap though... We had gotten to MK bright and early so that we could get a head start and fit as much as possible into the day. So far we had been there over 1 hour and all we accomplished was a trip to City Hall, a bathroom break, and shopping excursion that led to no purchases. AND NOW YOU TELL ME MATTHEW WANTS TO SEE A CASTLE STAGE SHOW? Not only did he want to see Dream Along with Mickey, but that would mean DBF and I would have to backtrack all the way back from Splash Mountain to the center of the park when they could just meet us at Pirate’s which is in Adventureland, which is NEXT TO FRONTIERLAND WHICH IS WHERE SPLASH MOUNTAIN IS IN THE FIRST PLACE! And did I mention IT WAS CROWDED?!?!?

I was hoping DBF would not agree to this ridiculous plan and tell them that if they want to see Dream Along with Mickey then to just meet us at Pirate’s since we hardly ever watch Castle Shows in the first place. Except that DBF didn’t tell them to meet us at Pirate’s he agreed and said we would see them at the Castle once got our FP’s to Splash Mountain.

The walk to Splash Mountain was, well, interesting. Let us just say it was no longer a Happy Anniversary. I was yelling things at DBF like...

WE DO NOT BACKTRACK!

IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE OUR DAY!

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ON THE DIS!

He tried to stay calm and told me to just be happy that we are here and not let something silly like this ruin our day.

Him staying so calm made me even more mad, I couldn’t figure out why we had to go all the way back to the castle in the first place. Now usually I love the castle, but at this moment it was my worst enemy. I was just picturing the sea of humanity that would emerge once Dream Along with Mickey let out and we would be right in the middle of it. It would be like trying to go against the flow of the lazy river.

We got our Splash Mountain FP’s and began walking back towards the castle. I was angry. I was angry at his family for ruining the plan, and I was angry at DBF for not following the plan which he knew was better in the first place, most of all I was angry at myself for allowing something like this to put in a horrible non-Disney mood.

We made it to the back of the castle where I spotted Jeanne, but she walked away, I just figured she didn’t see us. DBF, who I was surprised was still talking to me after the way I had been acting, told me to make a wish in Cinderella’s fountain like we do every year, except every year we save the wish for after Wishes. I just figured that he was trying to cheer me up because he knows just how much I love that fountain and we had gotten off to a rough morning. I was really not in a mood to make a wish at the moment but DBF had pulled out two pennies so I figured what the heck. I closed my eyes, made my wish, and chucked that penny into the fountain still rather angry, but I was still sure to make a wish because after all we were at the place where dreams & wishes come true.

And suddenly, my wish was granted...

I began to walk away and DBF asked me what I had wished for. I told him that I couldn’t tell him otherwise it wouldn’t come true. He pulled me back to the fountain, reached his pocket, pulled out a box, got down on one knee, and said “will you marry me?”

100_2303.jpg
Look closely you will see him down on one knee.

proposal.jpg

I couldn’t believe what was happening to me, it all happened so fast. Instead of saying yes I said “are you kidding.” But then I realized what he just asked and finally said “yes.” I was truly surprised, as if you all couldn’t tell from the look on my face in those pictures.

100_2305.jpg

100_2306.jpg

100_2307.jpg

As you can see from the pictures above we held each other and I cried...and cried...and cried...heck, I am about to cry right now. I love how in the pictures there a lot of people and then slowly the crowd thins out and we are alone. They let us have our special moment together and I thought that was really nice of everyone who was there. I guess people were applauding when it happened too, but I do not remember any of that. There could have been a million people standing there at that moment and I wouldn’t have noticed.

As I am crying, DBF says to me, “You know my entire family is behind us taking pictures of this whole thing.” I told him I was not aware of that and began to laugh. Sure enough his entire family was there snapping away.

Those were some of the pictures they got, there are others on the disposable camera which like I said before I promise to post once I get them into digital mode.

I gave hugs to my new family members to-be, and I still couldn’t believe what had just happened. It was so funny that a couple minutes earlier I was so angry and now I felt like I was floating. It was such a surreal feeling.

The funniest thing about the entire proposal was that it was exactly what I had wished for when I chucked that penny into the fountain.

Posing next to our magical fountain.

Like I said, I couldn’t believe what had just happened, I kept looking at my hand at my beautiful ring which I am sure you all want to see.

TR007-1.jpg
(sorry it is so blurry)

It is just what I wanted and it fit me perfectly...he is good.

I should really have DF write his version of the proposal morning because it is pretty funny what was going through his head the entire time. I will have to ask him if he will do it.

Okay, back to the TR...

It was as though time was standing still for a brief moment, but soon enough people started crowding around the fountain again and that was our cue to continue on with our day.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Up Next: Our Magic Kingdom day continues, I meet a DISer, we eat in Cinderella’s castle, and so much more! find it on p. 15, post #221!
