Our Magical Mulligan Trip!!

Okay, wait, I'm confused - how many nights are you up to now?! LOVE it! :thumbsup2
No worries, your DH WILL thank you when your flawless Mulligan goes down in the annals of WDW do-over history!

Ok gang...out with it...who makes their plans and then puts them on index cards for each day?? Come on - I know you're out there...show of hands!?!?!

I'm thinking of doing that...but in secret as DH doesn't want me to plan his entire vacation out. What if I plan my route, my ADR's, get them all on index cards, commit them to memory and then eat them so as not to get caught?

If I make it SEEM unplanned, DH will be happy. If I MAKE it planned....I will be happy. See? Doesn't it make sense? Everybody's happy!! We all win! :cheer2:

I'm perusing my park maps and making note of everything we've missed and boy - there's a lot!! Take Epcot for example...just in Future World...Soarin' (we all know I missed THAT)...Body Wars (which is probably closed, right?), Mission Space, Universe of Energy, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Test Track....That's just off the top of my head...there's more...plus I want to check out the new Nemo ride and hit Turtle Talk again, etc...

So I'm making a plan. I have to. Now here's my plan within a plan...ya with me? I'm going to the left...all the time. That's my plan. In glancing at most park maps - the majority of stuff we missed was on the left...coincidence? Things that make you go "Hmmmm.....":scratchin

AND...stay with me on this...it will seem spontaneous and unplanned to DH!! I can come up with some kind of crazy schpiel like "Hey - let's live on the edge, let's not plan, not follow maps...let's do everything to the left and see where it takes us" or something like that anyway...Of course I will lay it on thick, but what do you all think?

Think it will work? :confused3

LOL! Two things:

1. You have to be in charge of the finances (its more responcibility cuz I have to pay the bills and such, BUT I am very organized anyways and wouldn't trust him to keep track of everything on Quicken)

AND

2. Make sure he loves Disney too (mine loves it, not as much as I do, but he enjoys it, so as lng as we have $ he is game).

Oh yeah, have I even MENTIONED to you guys that my DH hasn't worked since like March!?!?! He had to dissolve his business because of my transfer and guess what? NO job yet in NC for him...although, my laundry is done and the house is always vacuumed so it's not all that bad.

Hopefully something will come soon (at this point after vacation would be nice) or I'll be renting out my week next April!!! :scared:

How can I seem so calm AND plan a vacation during this uncertain time you ask? Did I win the lottery? No. Am I making 6 figures on my job? Nope.

I have a prescription! :teeth:

If your DH needs spontaneous, then pretending sounds good. . . That is one more thing you are making me appreciate my DH more, as long as he doesn’t have to plan he doesn't care if I did. On our honeymoon there was only one day that I did not do an ADR and we got turned away from a few places and ten had to wait an hour somewhere else. . . after that we both agree spontaneous at WDW is overrated. I do not plan what we do every minute but I do plan what Park(s) for each day and the TS meal. We are spontaneous once we get there (well except for sending my DH running in at AK to get EE fast passes, or at EPCOT for Soarin' fast passes).

I do not put it all on an index card, but I do create an itinerary with all the info and print out a couple of copies. When we went with the in-laws I gave them a copy, they were happy to go "wherever we wanted" WHICH I had already planned, lol!

Decmber 25, 2006 - Jan 1, 2007. . . I KNOW it will be busy - but I am fulfilling a practically life-long dream of my mothers! I cannot wait!

You ladies have been busy with the chit chat! :hyper2:

Note cards! :worship: I'm taking notes...love the idea!

My husband is definitely not into Disney much...right now. But I believe that will change. Once we arrive at DW and the pixie dust falls pixiedust: he'll get in the spirit :dance3: . And then it'll be easy to talk him into a 2nd trip at some point :rolleyes1

I just got my DW tickets in the mail yesterday! :cheer2: So excited!

I'll see your index cards and raise you..... a Palm Pilot!!! Yep, I actually brought the PP on one of our WDW trips. It didn't work out as well as I'd hoped, though. Too much effort to enter items, alarms, etc.

I am considering printing each day out a bit smaller than index card size, laminating and threading them on a ring, though. :rolleyes1

OK...um...I did the laminating thing for our trip last May. :guilty: It made me feel calm (kind of like Laura's prescription, I would gather).

Ah yes...note cards...maybe I'll shrink mine down to wallet size and laminate 'em and then I can refer to them on the sly if I get distracted, which tends to happen, I will admit that....oooh a butterfly!! Ummm...where was I??? :rotfl2:

Yes, I'm sure once he gets there he'll love it!! And how exciting to get your tix in the mail...That makes it feel so real!!

I fold...you've got me there V!! :rotfl2: Nothing says FANatic like a palm pilot!! Love the "threading them on a ring" deal...You haven't had writers block...I'm not buying it Sista! Anyone who can come up with an idea like that can not possibly have writer's block...You, my dear, are a Disney Savant. A true genius...I bow in your presence...:worship: and am not worthy of you!! :teeth:

Well, I better get to work on my plans...not much time left!! :thumbsup2 I have a laminator and I'm not afraid to use it!!

Alrighty...the most important bag of all is packed and ready to go. Almost. Yep...the Shower Bag is pretty much ready to go. I always pack that first. If I have that at the ready, I can go anywhere, anytime.

I travel a lot for work so I've got a skeleton version of the "shower bag" packed at all times. Until of course TSA changed their carry on rules again...no liquids? What? Only 2 ounces? Are you kidding me? Well, once that happened, it pretty much sealed the deal - we're driving. And hey - if we're driving, I can take more stuff, right? Everyone's happy.

Took a little doing to get this shower bag ready to go though as it now had to contain the necessity items for 3 and not just me. I bought the biggest travel/shower bag that LL Bean makes and let me tell you - it'll hold everything BUT the shower. Well, and my straightening iron...too long. But other than that...everything's in there. I think?

Sunblock(s)? Check.
Hair Dryer? Check.
Shampoo, Conditioner, Frizz Ease Masque, Silk Treatment, Leave In Conditioner, Liquid Shine, Heat Glide and Hair Spray? Check, check, check and double check. Yes - my hair is high maintenance. What's that they say about your hair being a reflection of your personality? ;)
All the rest of the goodies fit in there just nicely...the bath & body works stuff, the q-tips, deoderants, toothbrushes/toothpastes, etc...

Ahhhh...I feel better just knowing that bag is ready to go. Next up will be the "snack bag". The juice boxes, pop tarts, little cereal boxes, plastic spoons, coffee, creamer, fruit snacks, sodas (maybe), microwave popcorn, trail mix, granola bars and yes, my bottle of Jack Daniels. It's like my Disney Visa card...never leave home without it. I like to wind down at night with a couple of cocktails. :drinking1 Don't flame me...I'm on vacation!!

Ok, so the two important bags are out of the way...now comes the hard part...clothes! I have the easy stuff put aside...plastic bags for wet clothes, 2 bathing suits each, :beach: beach towels and jammies...

Last time we went, I had Michael's clothes all made up into outfits for each day, all in gallon sized ziploc bags so I could just pull 'em out each morning. Worked well by the way for those who haven't tried it. I will probably try doing that again this time.

Now my plan is to be completely 100% totally packed Thanksgiving weekend as we leave the following Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (tee hee...depending on how many days I've added by then!) I want to have the truck totally packed the night before we leave, whenver that may be so that I can shove everyone out the door the next morning and be on the road early, early, early!!

DH presents a problem though. He's one of THOSE kind of people that can pack right before he leaves to go somewhere. HOWEVER, the last few times he's tried that, including weddings we've had to attend, he tries on his clothes at the last minute and low and behold we're running into JC Penney on our way to said wedding to get him a new suit...it's so frustrating. This year I plan to threaten him. Yes, gentle pleading has not worked. Time for tough love. Be packed or be....home on the couch while we're enjoying ourselves at Disney World!

Oh yeah, I forgot - I was supposed to be working on my "plans" not my packing!! Ok, back at it!! Later Gators! LYMI!!

I got yet another idea for you Lauralee...

One page!
Excel Spreadsheet!

...I've done the index cards on a ring, works good but the one page itinerary worked soooo much better :)

A fellow DISer shared hers with me before my Christmas 2005 trip and I've been sharing and using it ever since :thumbsup2

my recent spreadsheet recipient is a total DISney Newbie and is actually there RIGHT NOW! She really loved using the spreadsheet for her ADRs and reservation numbers and flight info and everything...I'll get a full review from her when she returns to work on Monday. She's down there with her parents, husband and two daughters staying at POR. She shared the excel sheet with her dad and he totally took it over and made one of his own for he and his wife.

I know it's a little late but holler if you want a copy :teeth:
