Our Magical Gathering Food Reviews-with Pics!

I'm so glad everyone is enjoying my reviews! Writing this is helping me fight the after trip blues.

June 2, Snacks and Late lunch

When my In-laws arrived in Epcot, we were able to ride Soarin', Nemo and we all watched Turtle Talk with Crush. They were starving so we went to Sunshine Seasons so they could grab some lunch. Now, I can't sit and watch people eat so I went and grabbed a Strawberry Shortcake and a lemonade for Will.

Will really enjoyed this lemonade.

This shortcake was OK, but not great. I should have gotten the fruit tulip, but I'm a sucker for strawberry shortcake. The strawberries did not taste fresh. We all had a few bites and gave up.

DMIL and DFIL shared a ham sandwich and some cheetos. They enjoyed it. My DMIL isn't the type of person to rave about food so this could have been delicious!

We all enjoyed sitting and taking a break in The Land. The babies were HOT and needed to spend time in the A/C.

After a while, we returned to POFQ for a late lunch and a nap. I was Starving! This is the only picture we got of the food because I HAD TO EAT.

I got the chicken quesadilla and it was really good. It came with a side of red beans and what looked like dirty rice. The beans and rice were good and spicy. Will had the chicken nugget kids meal with grapes and apple sauce and Billy just ate carrots and celery. :confused3 Hello? We are on vacation. He claims he wasn't hungry. I enjoyed my meal with a giant coke which was delicious.

Up Next: Morocco for dinner!

I love your reviews and I agree that your kids are really cute.

We love Earl of Sandwich too - for some reason, although my DD loves tuna, she didn't get the tuna melt last time - I'll have to get her to try it next time we go.

I agree about the grapes at Disney World. The quality of our fresh fruit here in the UK is pretty poor most of the time and my DS was absolutely addicted to WDW grapes in April - he was eating them by the sackload :rotfl:

The princess breakfast sounded really good and I had to laugh about your comment about chewing on bacon fat - you've certainly made some progress from vegetarianism :lmao:

Looking forward to reading more :)

OT a bit, I see you brought your Quattro Duo stroller. I find mine to be very heavy to push and lift (my DS is almost 3 and DD almost 1 - so a bit bigger than yours) but I love how comfy it is and the storage. Did you like having it or would you recommend 2 single "travel" strollers (beefed up umbrellas)?

Thanks. Love the pics and the reviews!

This stroller is a nightmare...VERY heavy and it just doesn't turn easily. The stroller is one of the reasons we tried to avoid the buses. It is huge when it is folded up. You are right though, the storage is great and the kids were able to take good naps in it. I'm torn about using it again. It has lots of pros, but also lots of cons. I'm just thankful I have a strong husband to push my heavy stroller!

Great insight, Thanks! Now back to pictures of food! LOL!

Great reviews! I may have to consider that Tuna Melt over my stand by Beef & Bleu at EofS! :)

June 2nd- Dinner at the Tangierine Cafe!

After a long nap we headed back to Epcot to explore the World Showcase. My children are not used to all of this excitement and were a little fussy. Billy and I wanted to eat at Morocco since we love this kind of food but my in-laws were not as excited. They aren't very adventurous eaters (not sure if Morocco is that adventurous!) so they headed to America to eat. I'm so glad we stuck to our plan to eat at the Tangierine Cafe! It was great. Here's what we had:

This is the chicken and lamb Shawarma Platter. Billy and I split this. The chicken and lamb were kind of gyro style meat with taziki sauce and onions. The couscous salad was cold and very yummy. We are big time hummus lovers so this really hit the spot. My only complaint is that I wish I had not shared. Next time, I'm getting my own. Also, Gemma insisted on nursing during the meal so I was having to feed her and myself, which is not an easy task but I was determined. Here is a picture if me having to wrestle her at the table.

We sat outside in the courtyard and it was just beautiful there. While we were eating Mo'Rockin started to play and Will was so excited. Here's a shot of his very exotic chicken strips.

The big smile is due to the funky music. He was loving it!

Here's a shot of us checking out the belly dancer and listening some more:

We were very pleasantly surprised with this counter service meal. It was so good and Morocco is such a beautiful place to eat a meal at. Everyone should try it!

Oh, and FYI, my in-laws did not enjoy their meal at America. This meal led them to believe that there is no good food in the theme parks. I wanted to say "Take my advice and you will find good food!", but alas, I'm working on not being so bossy and a know it all. (Even though I'm always right:laughing: )

Thanks for posting! Your kids are sooo cute! You look a lot like my SIL!
I did a double take on your photos! I was thinking...hey, why did Susan go without us and when did she have a baby?

Earl of Sandwich...never thought to eat there. Will have to try it next time!
Lisa

I too am enjoying your reviews and was especially glad to hear that you enjoyed the princess breakfast as we are doing that in October. DD is 5 and definitely princess OBSSESSED!!! We actually have 3 princess meals planned for the trip.

I can't wait to read more of your reviews, and I love your pics. I'm also enjoying hearing about you having the little one there because our DD #2 will be 14 months old during our trip.

Still loving the reviews - how weird that the in-laws decided you can't get good food because of one bad experience :confused3

June 3rd- Our Animal Kingdom Day

I apologize in advance...this isn't the greatest day for pictures. I was exhausted and in a bad mood later on this day. But, we do have great breakfast pictures!

We all ate breakfast at the food court at POFQ. I had the cheese omelet with potatoes and a side of sausage. Billy shared with me. Will had the full size Mickey Waffle with strawberries. Everything was really good as usual. POFQ has an excellent food court.

You can kind of see Will's waffle in the background.

My sister and her family joined us for breakfast. They got pancakes, bacon, and a croissant sandwich with more bacon. (They obviously don't have the same issues I do with WDW bacon!) My mom got the beignets. These are OK, but if you have actually had them in New Orleans, they just don't stand up.

We came back to the hotel for an afternoon break and ate lunch there. We were so hot, tired and hungry that we ate before we even thought of taking a picture. I got the cheese steak sandwich which was SO GOOD. They make everything fresh when you order it, which makes a big difference. They actually cooked the meat on the grill with the onions and peppers, instead of just heating up already prepared cheese steak meat. This came with fries. Billy got the kids cheeseburger meal and Will got the chicken nugget kids meal. Is he going to turn into a chicken nugget? We love the kids meals because you can get grapes, carrots and applesauce, which Will would rather eat. He is really into fruit right now. After lunch we all collapsed.

When we woke up, everyone was leaving to go back to the Animal Kingdom to see the Nemo show. Well, my babies weren't awake yet and we couldn't leave. I was staring to get a little irritated at this point because we had barely even seen my sister and her kids since they were so busy running around, and it didn't look like we were going to spend any time with them this afternoon either. (see my upcoming trip report for more info!) Anyway, I got sad because the Magical Gathering wasn't a gathering at all, and DH went out and brought this back:

What a good husband! I felt better after my snack and we headed back to the Animal Kingdom.

We were there until about 7:30, when a rainstorm caught us and we came back to POFQ completely soaked. We all ate at the food court AGAIN. Since I was so wet and cold I got a bowl of potato cheese soup which was actually really good. Billy got the Muffaletta, which was good but pretty salty. Who cares about salt when you can drink lots of Coke? Sorry for not having any pictures of this meal...this day was crazy.

Loving your reviews!!! I'm so glad you posted what you did about the beignets - we live about 40 miles outside of New Orleans, and have, therefore, had the "real thing" so I think we would have been disappointed in them too. I will definitely take your word for it on that this September! :thumbsup2 All of your details are great and the pictures are making your report so enjoyable - keep them coming! :goodvibes

What's so funny is that we get them every time we go to WDW, and I keep hoping they will be good, and they never are! I think if you had never had a beignet, they would be delicious, because who has a problem with fried dough? But if you've had a real beignet, it's such a sad mouthful!

Although we have never stayed at POFQ, we have eaten at the food court there a few times. We have always had great meals from there :)

:thumbsup2

Great reviews and pictures. Your daughter is so cute and so is your son!! My son had the make your own omelet in March at POR and it looked really good. We also love EOS and your pictures remind me of ours on our last day at WDW:( Can't wait to go back!! Keep the photos coming and also it is nice that I'm not the only one that has little meltdowns at WDW.

Oh goodie, a GG, I am in!!! :thumbsup2

First your children are too cute and your pictures priceless :cloud9:!! We've been anxiously planning our GG family of 17 for over a year for Thanksgiving week, so I am up for any ideas you can offer!! The good, the bad and the ugly! :lmao:

I am loving your SBP breakfast photos! We really considered this one, but as 6 grands are doing are the BBB, some wanted the castle afterwards, so thus far we are going with that for lunch. I can only hope it's worth the $$'s, but thinking your princess breakfast has a lot more interaction. :)

Our family has left most of the planning up to me and one DD, so after presenting different options, it's been interesting and fun to say the least !?!? At least feel we can breath a sigh of relief w/ADR's etc. in place. We've done lots of family things together, incl a Disney cruise 6 yrs ago, where I learned 'the things you planned for may not happen and the things you didn't plan for - will' ;) ! So I'm going with a very open mind and have promised myself, afterall it's a 'grand vacation' and nothing is carved in stone :hyper:! It goes w/o saying, some things we will want to do together, other things as individual families, plus allowing freedom to do as you please and down time for all involved. Specially for over excited, perhaps tired grands.....not too mention
Nana n Pop Pop too! :goodvibes

Also joined Tour Guide Mike for his expert advise how to make the best of your time at WDW. I am very pleased with his advise thus far and if half his ideas work, we'll be good to go! :dance3:

Love the pic of your snack, what a keeper your DH is!? :worship:

I'm anxiously awaiting rest of your report and photos! :woohoo:
