They rasied the prices just like disney

For a student to go on friday or saturday night it used to cost 7.50$ went up to 9.00$:mad::mad:

Are they trying to scare of business? (most of there business is highschool and college age groups)

Well, you had a good deal for a while. We payed $10.50 on a Sat night to see Alice.

If you live near an AMC, their first showings of the day are $6. Also Costco has 2 tickets for $15.99 thats with tax. They are the ones you can use for any showing.

Even the ones that say no passes? I've taken advantage of the Costco tickets in the past, but have never tried using them on a brand spanking new movie... but would love to, as the savings are quite nice... and there's a Costco very conveniently located to my local AMC theatre. =)

That's why I've stopped going to the theater and just wait for it to come out on DVD. For the price of 1 1/2 tickets I can own the movie and watch it as often as I want. Plus these days they come out DVD so soon after they stop showing them in the theater it's not a long wait. Granted, there are some movies that would be nice to see on the big screen.

I can't wait for things to go on dvd here going to see movies is like what every one does to socialize and stuff its like what you do if you go somplace on a friday night.

Our student price here is still $8. I'm not looking forward to the day when prices go up again. We're lucky, though, we have a dollar theater nearby so that if we can wait a few weeks, we can see the movie we want to see for $1.

Yeah, it is a social experience... and sometimes nice to be able to see a movie on a big screen. (I'm glad I saw New Moon in the theatre, as the effects were much more fun on the larger screen)

Any chance your local theatre is AMC, and you can get to a Costco?

catycatcat4,

Here in the Chicago area, we have a Kerasotes Theater chain. They have a $5 Club. After a film has been out a week or so, they lower the price to $5 for those who went on line to request $5 Club cards. I'm not sure what chain raised their prices down there, but you may want to check their website to see if they have any similar promotional "clubs". We very rarely see a movie without using our $5 club cards. I can usually wait a few weeks to see a movie...

We have a Kerasotes theater here, and we are also members of the $5 club. It's really a life saver, considering I'm a college student and a little short on funds. And usually every movie that comes out goes down to the 5 dollar price after a couple of weeks, which is really nice.

btw, the $5 cards are free, you just have to go their website and join the club. Simple as that :)

Yes, got them friday morning and saw Iron Man 2 friday afternoon.

We are also part of the $5 club. Also there you get free refills on any size popcorn, soda, or icee.

I am at the point where I am seeing maybe 1 or 2 movies a year at a theater. The last movie I saw at the theater was Angels & Demons and before that it was UP!.

I just don't care enough about movies to spend $10+ to see one unless I really want to see it, and there are less and less movies that fit that category.

I bought a buy one get one free code for 99 cents on ebay for the online ticket purchase muahahahaha

we, on the other hand, go to almost every major release.......but.........saturday at around noon i stopped by our Great Escape Theatre and bought our Iron Man 2 tickets in advance so we would not have to stand in the ticket line that night.........i said 2 please......he looks at me and says..........i'll give ya seniors price................he was about 12..................excuse me?????????????........but they were only 5.50 apiece. but really do i look like a senior? i am shocked...................went right away and got a haircut.........thinkin about a tattoo. nothin big, just want to show i am still viable.............maybe a skull and crossbones on my wrist.........................................................................................

Ours is 9.50 an adult for an evening show and 7.50 a child.

Before noon, I think you get a 1.00 off.

I don't know what the student prices are. Probably only 1.00 off.

It's expensive to go to the movies nowadays.
