Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

OMG Sheila, my Mom was taught by nuns too, and tells stories about it. She is left handed, and they did not like that at all, she took many hits on the knuckles with a ruler over that. I guess kids these days don't have it so bad!LOL!:scared:

What airline??

Dani: Frustrating!!! I feel for you. Hope it gets better for Daniel.:grouphug:

jenny we had some real mean nuns :rotfl2: And they did like to use that ruler, I got it across the palm of my hand a few times never the knuckles. Of course the one time I was hit with a yardstick it was a ay teacher not a nun

The kids nowadays have it so easy.

Can I just say I hate having to make mom decisions. Steven is still fighting his cold but no fever and seems to do ok with a decongestant in him. I know he could make it to school with meds in him but he is saying he doesn't want to go. He was up at 5:30am needing meds so I know he is tired (aren't we all). I feel like I should push him to go to school but know it can back fire quickly. If I knew he wasn't missing a half day in the 27th and a whole day on Oct 4th for our Disney trips I would feel better about him staying home.

I swear I am as indecisive with these kinds of decisions as I am with resorts, lol!!!

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

melissa 2 incidents with my boys come to mind once I made my eldest go to school and the nurse called to say he was coughing badly so she was sending him home, I felt awful but don't you know once home he cough disappeared.

My youngest once was complaining of a stomach ache and I thought he was faking, a knock at the door and it is my neighbor with my DS, he threw up down waiting for the bus.

Yeah, you definitely have more complicating factors. Hopefully Steven gets lots of rest today and is feeling better soon! Remember from Tangled "Mother knows best!!!". :goodvibes

So, I also would like to express my concern for 4th grade.....it's not DD...she is one of those bubbly kids who gets along with everyone and has a bunch of friends, always teachers pet...blah, blah, blah. I love her teacher (know her personally), so that's not the issue....

My issue is the TECHNOLOGY!!! :headache: I am just overwhelmed right now with thinking about how I am going to monitor DD's progress this year. 90% of her homework assignments during the week are on-line or using apps on her Ipod Touch. I normally have rule that she can't use her Ipod Touch, Wii, or DS during the school week - well, that's out the window, because she cant complete her homework assignment without going into the apps. I knew this was coming...our school has every peice of technology out there - every kid in class has an iPad at there desk, they have the whiteboards, etc...but, she has always brough home her PAPER homework, and I could check it, etc...

Not this app stuff...I see her on there and I'm like "I hope you're doing your homework!" and she shows me what she is doing, and she is doing her homework. I want to see it, and she's like I already submitted it to my teacher. It's going to drive me nuts!!! :crazy2:

Candace I can not believe the technology they are using in schools now, not sure if it is good or not. Go into a store and the cashier tenders an incorrect amount into the register and 99% are clueless what change to give back. It is sad really that the younger generation is allowed to rely so much on technology.

Vent!!!!

I was helping a friend Book their first Disney vacation and plan it. I sent them links and wrote paragraphs upon paragraphs of info, she pm's me back saying oh we will just stay value with free qs dining plan cuz other stuff is a waste of money. Fine. Cool. Whatever u want its ur money i was ok with everything. Thy leave Saturday. Yesterday she pm's me askin about MNSSHP and BOG. She wants ressies for like 5 character meals all of which have NO openings. Plus BBB and on and on. I feel bad but I told them they needed to book that stuff months ago!

Erin You tried to help, if they did not listen nothing you could do.

Lol about your DH. Same with mine. :) The big advantage of being near Epcot/HS is it saves a lot of time.
When I am waffling, I tend to work out a more detailed itinerary for a day or two. If I can live with allowing the extra travel time, great. If it's going to make me nuts, I stay put.
Re-reading this, I'm not sure I was of any real help. It's one of those crazy days around here. :crazy2:

LOL! No Worries Ginny, I am really just bouncing ideas off you guys. I know you really have to idea of our finances or if it really makes any difference to our day to day life. I actually looked at our ADR's and out of 6 dinners only 2 are at Epcot. I thought it was more than that.

Day 1 arrive from DCL, head to MK, dinner Ohana
Day 2 Epcot, travel to Contemporary for dinner at Cali Grill, maybe MK after or back to Epcot
Day 3 HS probably a late start to this day, dinner at 50's, stay to see Osbourne Lights
Day 4 no park planned yet, but dinner at San Angel Inn
Day 5 AK 1/2 day or whatever, dinner Whispering Canyon, MVMCP night!
Day 6 Epcot or MK, Garden Grill dinner
Day 7 head home, only have to worry about breakfasts

Does that help??

:goodvibes

This is exactly why we do stuff like letting them bring cash into a store, buy something and determine how much change they are supposed to be getting back before the cashier gives it to them. (I usually pick a line with no one in it, because at their age sometimes it takes awhile :goodvibes )

But, yeah, no real old school learning going on....And it's hard for DH and I because we didn't learn that way. So when we try to explain things the way WE do it, we get a whole bunch of :confused3

I love I can still access AP site

1017 for POR standard (2Q & Pull-down bed)

I know you didn't ask:lmao:

Hi Jenny, That did help, thanks! I can see why you're pondering. Your itinerary does have some flexibility on where you stay. Great thing is, you have a couple of good options. I would be tempted by extra space and and extra bathroom, too. :thumbsup2

I actually had a few minutes in a row to catch up here, so it's time for one big, baaaaaaaaad multi-quote:

We've done breakfast and enjoy the creative options, so thanks for the Fisherman's stew shout out. Gonna have to book a dinner there now, and then watch the BW buskers for dessert. :dance3:

Classic!!!!! :rotfl2:

So did you make the call? Like-minded inquiring minds are jones-ing for another CR stay. :cutie: Hope you can get the room type you want.

Some CMs make me feel so queasy that I hang up and try again with another CM. Thanks for helping to decipher the newest CR CL code. ;)

Congrats to DD on scoring the most amazing part ever!!!! :woohoo: I'd kill to play a Oompa Loompa!

So, ummmmm, when are you doing this F&W thang??? popcorn::

As it should be! :goodvibes

When the new website was up with dining early this year Wanyama Safari was available with the dining ressies on the WDW website. I wondered how that would work if non-AKL peeps tried to reserve it that way. We booked it for May but then if you remember I was deathly sick for our whole AKL stay so we cancelled some good ADRs :guilty: and poor DH ate a lot of Mara stew and I ate crackers. Keep me posted how you like it if you decide to do it. :)

Yes, go-go-go then! I wil be at WDW and you can always stay at FWC where we'll be.... or not! :lmao:

Oh my! I am :rotfl: picturing Sister Regina in my head!

Yup! Agree. I sent a long time friend who requested the WDW dirt for planning their summer trip lots of information and I don't even know if they went to WDW at all!!! :headache: Other people I know think I am nuts for planning the "big stuff" so far in advance but after one trip without getting any ressies or ADRs they wanted, they quickly come over to the dark side. :earsgirl:

Awwww, yes I venture to say we all getcha!!! :grouphug:

I'm so glad business has taken off so well for you. And, yep, you can fire a few every now and again. :rolleyes1

True to form, you are a packing-cube goddess!! princess: ...... OK, so I have a few irons in my WDW fire. So far I have a little weekend stay in Oct for my bday at SSR (if we positively can't make it to NC mountains that week due to workload). I have 2 Decembers ressies booked: one early Dec at POFQ, and 2 nights the weekend before Christmas with my DB at CSR business class (DB loves CSR). Next, 2014 brings FWC :lmao: in late Feb/Mar for DH bday/our anniv trip. And then BWI is already booked for next August. :hourglass

Awesome multiquote...and I LOVE your plans :cheer2:

Thanks my friend!:wave2:
Happy to help lovie

Mom & dad get their own bed :goodvibes

Ding, ding, ding!!! That sounds like a winner!!! But you know, saving money is sooooo overrated....:rotfl2:

Yes it is Candace :upsidedow

I just looked at POP for our dates in August....with the $$ that I have already paid, my 10 day resort portion would be paid off too.....:scratchin

But, naaaaahhhhh:p

See we have never done a value. Starting off Deluxe was not the smartest thing to do. :rolleyes1 But I was saying to DH, Ummmm we are doing a cruise first....do we really need to do a deluxe with CL too???:confused3

The values really are fine. We had nothing but great stays in them. We only had 1 value stay with the kids though, the others were just DH and I.

With our family, we have found the deluxes much more conducive to our way of vacationing. We have found that resort time has become pretty important, so having the amenities of the deluxes is a definite bonus. I have joked around and said I will book All Stars, and DH says "then I'm not going!". He will fully admit that it's nothing against the values, but it's just not how our family vacations.

For a down and dirty park intensive trip though, I would not rule it out. :goodvibes

Jeanette are you sure that rate for POR was with 2 adults and 3 children (9,7,5) I was getting $1145 before?:confused3

Hello, my friends. :grouphug:

Jeanette: Oh YAY, I totally missed that the girls are going too! Are you seriously leaving the boys over at ASMu? :rotfl2:

Erin & Sheila: How's today going -- germs and allergies alleviated? I hope you're getting some respite. :)

Erin: Hahaha, yeah. Can of worms, isn't it? Good thing there are folks like us that actually enjoy the planning side of it. Speaking of...

Dani: Woot for new clients! :cheer2: I'm cheering for one of your guys tonight, btw.

Melissa: How's he feeling now? Poor kiddo.

Candace: You've got one tough cookie there. Are you steadfast with your upcoming resort choice? ;)

Magic: My Libra pal! :thumbsup2 Disney as a fall-back birthday plan is the bees' knees, ya know?

Ginny: Has the packing started or waiting until it's a bit closer? :goodvibes

Sue: Yep, totally agree about paying for a view there at the mods. Since you can't really enjoy it.

Sheila & Jen: Yikes. Re: Nuns, I've heard horror stories about my FIL and how he was brought up in school. (They actually forced them to stop being left-handed over there back in the day. :scared: Like, beat it out of them! )

Jen: Oh, you've got me all popcorn:: it up with your scheming.

~~============================~~

I'm still on the germ-train apparently. Not been sick like this is so long, very bizarre. :confused3 Even OTC meds aren't managing to give any relief. Alien, mutated, kid germs! :scared:

If you are referring to BWI CL, well, we've got some time....:rotfl2: (DH is happy though)

Hi Miss, I am sorry to hear you are still under the weather, I hope you are feeling much better, soon! :flower3:

I have started packing a few things. Dh and I are so looking forward to this vacation. :beach:
Being out of town during the last week of the government fiscal year is a great idea! Why didn't I think of this sooner?? :rotfl::dance3:
