Our little thread of BIG Resort Changes~2013 Spring RC installment

So now that I've made peace with all my changing resorts....(I think.....) I want to thank you all for helping me along the way with my Disney addiction. :goodvibes And I guess now I am addicted to this forum....I missed chatting while I was at work today...I just got home and now I have to go to bed and get up all over again in the morning...who invented this "working" thing anyways...:rotfl: Have a good nite all my new friends....love this place:love:

We are so happy you found us :goodvibes We love sharing all our RC adventures! As for work :sad2:

Love this!!! My feeling is that at BC you really don't need CL .... there are so many good options to eat that are really convenient. Of course this is coming from the lady who has never done CL anywhere! So take my advise with a grain of salt! :rotfl2:

We actually did CR two months apart, one CL and one not. Even though CL was nice, we didnt really miss it. Of course I brought bottles of water, soda, juice boxes and some snacks knowing we would not have access to that. I think I missed breakfast the most, but honestly for the additional money a night we could go down to the Wave and have a sit down breakfast every morning and still save money over CL. I did like the secure floor and being able to book BLV and still have an MK view from the CL. Again, worth the money  I am not sure.

I think the CL was worth the money for us, it was so convenient. That alone was priceless. But for a few bucks less (ok more than a few bucks less) we can have breakfast in the room, a case of water, and a 12 pack of beer (maybe a bottle of wine for moi). Oh the sacrifices we make!:lmao:

We will be good, now, I just have to wonder about swimming in November!! :rotfl: I am sure the kiddos won't care if it is a bit cooler.

You could be describing all of us!! Yes I think you fit right in!:goodvibes

Wow what a big day for RC newcomers! I love it!

Jen

Thank you!!! :)

Ahhh, the kiddos finally went upstairs. DH went to sleep over an hour ago, poor guy. And Andrew is out with friends. Soooooo......DIS catch up time :goodvibes

SeptemberGirl - I don't think I said WELCOME yet! I also elected to do my Masters full time while working, with one child, and eventually pregnant with my second. I actually went into labor early the week of my finals my last semester, thank goodness for awesome understanding professors ::yes:: Your trips (or tentative plans) sound awesome! Remember with the Dolphin that there is a resort fee tacked on and if you have a car also a parking fee. For us, the savings doesn't end up adding up.

Melissa

Hi!!! Thanks!!!

A fellow grad student mom! Love it! I'm impressed you did had a baby in the middle of that! Two of my classmates had their babies in Dec - one took summer classes and will be back with us this fall! :worship:

Dolphin - yep, I've paid the $17/day before. Silly but they do warn you. No car for this trip - I am so anti renting a car for short trips. I blame my husband for that. ;) This trip is only a 3 night one, so the $51 lets us be walking distance to Epcot and DHS without paying the BW or BC prices...and right now it's pricing out the same as POP with transfers. Which seems insane to me, but hey. I priced Oct but that was higher. Naturally I will be doing this many times before I decide!

LOVE the BC pic! I have never stayed there - but every time I am at BW I walk over in the morning to soak it up! Maybe for my May 2014 trip? Hmmm.....

CL. Well, it's just magical isn't it? I did it at Poly and it was amazing. But you don't need it, and it BC is so nice anyway!

Um...you are worried about swimming in November??? There has honestly been only one November in the past few years that we had unusually cold weather, otherwise we are always swimming on Thanksgiving :) Jan/Feb is really when the weather gets iffy. Also, don't forget the resort pools are heated.

Thank you!!! :)

If the pricing works out, I say go for the Dolphin! We love the Epcot resort area and having the ferry is awesome!!! Granted sometimes a wait, but still a nice way to travel. Plus from the Dolphin the walk to DHS is nothing.

Yep, Master's mommy here :p Thankfully I was done by the time #3 came!!! One day I will dust off the MBA and use it, especially since I am still paying for it :rotfl2:

Melissa

Welcome to all the new RCers! (I'm normally more on the ball with my multi-quotes, honest.)

Melissa: I swear Sunday - Saturday are the worst times to be at MK. LOL. (I think we have just been unlucky to be honest; it poured with rain today, and instead of anyone leaving, people just kept flooding in and then lots of the rides were shut because of lightening and/or "technical difficulties" like BTMRR, HM, Dumbo, Barnstormer. Everyone seemed to be just piled into the streets because the rides were not going and the parades were cancelled. Eep. Crazy!)

Jen: Love the change! I agree about the area being so abundant with options, I think dropping CL is worth it off you can save and still be at the BC. :goodvibes BC remains my number one love... we've just added AKL to the list of fall-back options.)

Speaking of, I applied the BB rate to our October reservation and saved ourselves $700! :cheer2: (I won't mention that I did check availability of my favorite resort. 2 bedroom suites only. Eek.)

Oh, the paying for it. :scared1: I'm pretending to be in denial about the loans! :lmao:

I love being able to walk to a resort...and I love those beds. I might look into renting DVC though...I am so spoiled by my DVC trips! I was trying to think of what my ideal resort would be for this trip, what do I really want and what I can make happen? Things to ponder!

I am debating dropping CL in October. :sad2: Either that, or doing maybe Pop the first three nights since we are staying for 10 nights, maybe 11 if I do a value for part of it. I would do room only for the first few nights at the value, and 7 nights CL with DDP, since I can pick up the tickets 3 days early at DTD. That way we can do the parks and all and pay OOP for meals. I planned on paying for CG which is where we are our first night anyway.

What say you all? Sound like a good plan?

 Seriously can't wait!!

First time poster on this thread and so glad to have found it. No one in my family stresses over room choices as much as me and no one cares to hear about it. I do all the planning and everyone else just goes along with my recommendations. Maybe they have created a monster because I can think of little else, except where I want to stay.

My sister, her 4 children, my mom and myself may do a 2 night trip in mid September to go to Halloween party. I will be okay with value but really want to do WL. I am not booking for 2 weeks so we will take what we can get but I really want WL. With my sister having 4 kids, her two year old becoming a 3yo next year and her oldest becoming a dis adult the next year, I feel like this is our last opportunity for deluxe. I liked AoA in March and I guess I don't want to get my heart set on WL and have it be unavailable. However, as of today there is still availability at AKL or BWI. I just want to make the perfect choice!

:welcome: If it's not a budget buster, the WL is an amazing resort. Especially if your mainly going for the party. The boat ride to the MK is amazing!!

Thanks Wookie....that is another vote for POP right?? I think it is a tight race here!!:upsidedow

Jen

Yep, since it will give you more room and two bathrooms.

Wookie - so glad you got some sleep :cloud9: Miss' pictures must have you itching to get to AKL!

:grouphug:
Melissa

Thank you, but now I could really use some more.

They really do. They almost have me thinking, "Wilderness what?"

Ah....this!!

I would love to be there with my feet in the sand. Heck, at this moment, I would love to have my toes in the sand of any pretty beach.

Ah....this!!

Oh yes!! I can't wait to be on that beach in that swing enjoying the view in August!! Getting close! :yay:

No I think im the most boring RCer this trip. I haven't changed anything, really. Just keep on adding on days;) well I did switch out 2 days POFQ (my daughter thinks we are still staying there) for GF. Then decided to come in a day earlier so added one day pop. The perils of an AP!

Big news RCers: My DB is back on the WDW bandwagon. Yippee. We will go for sure for 2 days/1 night in July when he visits. Now to decide which resort... I do have Poly Lagoon View CL already booked from mom's cancellation for the exact night he will fly in from NJ... :scratchin It would make it soooo much easier if I just kept THAT one. ;) Hmmm, what park (s) to do? Where to eat? What pool in which to frolic? I just put my ears on and off to research I go. :earsboy:

I am in grad school for social work. In a year I will have my MSW from Monmouth University. :cool1:
Ah, my next trip! So I decided to plan something for this August. I'm thinking late August and I am debating on property or off - I really could go any time this summer, but price and crowds do affect me. I would love to stay at the Dolphin for 4 nights but it might end up a value for 3! Anyway, that is my current idea. I welcome any suggestions!
Welcome SeptemberGirl!! :cheer2: I live in Florida now but I spent my first 25 years at the Jersey Shore. I try to get back 2x per year at least. It will always be home. :thumbsup2 Loving all your trips planned. Keep us posted on the progress. popcorn::

Hey ladies! As of today I have a Deluxe CL room booked...but DH may not be able to go, and the $$ for that room for just myself, DS12 (it will be a total surprise 13th b-day trip for him) and DS16 is just making me cringe. Anyway, thanks for letting me get my room anxieties out over here. I think you guys will understand!
Yup, we do! :flower3: I don't think the Deluxe Room is so bad with 3 peeps. I would keep it. Love BWI CL and boardwalk views.

Ok...big RC over here!! We are now at....drum roll please....The Beach Club!!! POR still not available ;)
Don't do it. Keep BC. But just to stir the pot a little... they should be releasing the unused blocked out convention rooms any day now at POR. :rolleyes1

Speaking of, I applied the BB rate to our October reservation and saved ourselves $700! :cheer2: (I won't mention that I did check availability of my favorite resort. 2 bedroom suites only. Eek.)
Righteous bucks, Spiccoli!!!! That is a great savings. Yep, I will never ever, ever, ever, go back in June again... :faint: Did I really just say that?

I am debating dropping CL in October. :sad2: What say you all? Sound like a good plan?
Hi. I would keep CL and do a nice Value stint for 3 days. Pop rocks! (Ooooh remember THEM???? :crazy2:)

HEATHER: You vaca spot looks beautiful. Relax and enjoy and don't let that silly statistics class get too much in your way. (PS -- my professor flipped a coin and I just passed that one back in the day in college.) :crazy2:

jenny jinx, miss, and hstrickland: Thanks for the lovely pics. :artist:

janetB: I called someone at 4 am last night because I was awake for some crazy reason... :joker: DM is gettting her butt kicked in physical therapy. DH is coming around now, thank goodness no pneumonia. :cool1:

Welcome to any new RCers I missed. :wave2:

Wow you guys got really chatty today. I wasn't gone all that long just a Dr visit to my Pulmonary/Sleep Specialist and out to Chinese with Bob for lunch. Only made one trip to the buffet since I was down 2 more pounds when I weighed in at Dr's today:) He was happy with my 16 lb loss since last time I saw him :yay:

Will try to catch up on my reading now
Wow, congrats on the 16 lbs:thumbsup2. I'm trying to loose some weight for our August wdw trip. But just having had knee surgery, it's impossible to get much exercise. Today I walked up our lane and back, twice. With the dogs, once in morning, then late afternoon. I am hoping I'll be good for all host walking in wdw by August

Hey ladies! (and gents...do you have any gents over here?!?!?!) Been around this thread sometimes in the past, thought I'd pop in & say how saddened I was to learn of Jungle Cruise's passing. I chatted with her a few times regarding BC. What a brave gal! I'm sure its not the same around here without her.

I know Dani, Canadace & Kook on here. I recognize almost all the other names too! And although for my August trip I know exactly which resort I want (BWI or BWV)..I CANNOT stop changing my mind on the room type. Does that make me a "changer?" :confused3

As of today I have a Deluxe CL room booked...but DH may not be able to go, and the $$ for that room for just myself, DS12 (it will be a total surprise 13th b-day trip for him) and DS16 is just making me cringe. But I really really want a BW view at BWV...but none are available. As of today anyway. I hound my DVC friends to check constantly for me. They're about to change their numbers!

Ok I actually have a BWV studio standard view booked too for the trip. It's only another 1-night deposit, right???

Anyway, thanks for letting me get my room anxieties out over here. I think you guys will understand!
pixiedust: welcome Tara!! Hope things work out the way you want at BWI! N

Good evening, ladies. :goodvibes

Sheila: We're staying on the Zebra Trail, Uzima Savanna. I've been quite impressed with the variety of animals we've been able to see from the room. We lucked out methinks. :lovestruc

Sorry I haven't been able to do a real reply lately. So busy with STUFF! Had another "off" day at MK (rain and god-awful crowds then a nasty bus driver on the way back)... We never seem to get it right at MK unless it's at a party. :confused3 What a gorgeous "home" to come back to though.

Miss Making a note of your room location for when I book AKL one of these days.

I was booked there in 2010 for a trip with my eldest boy and his wife in a Villa in Jambo house but He got a job a month before our trip after being unemployed for over a year, unfortunately we cancelled and sadly he passed away before we ever rescheduled that trip but I so want to show AKL off to Bob. I stayed at AKL in 2006 with a friend and loved it.

Hope the rest of your trip is stress and crowd free pixiedust:

So I read and had every intention of replying to all your post my RC friends then feel asleep early (8pm) wake up now to find another 2 1/2 pages :crazy2:

I give up! :rotfl:

A Big hello  to all the new faces who joined us today!

Heather Love the pics of CanCun, never been never had any desire to go to Mexico but it does look lovely.

Thanks for the responses to my weight loss, I am determined to keep it off and would love to lose another 20 before my trip in November but maybe 15 lbs s more realistic since I only have 4 1/2 months till then.

Sue Good to hear you were able to get out and walk with the dogs :thumbsup2

That is all for now I need to try and get back to sleep.

Good Morning RC'ers (old & new!). :goodvibes

You guys chatted up a storm last night. I actually, finally had an opportunity to go to sleep early and did just that....so nice. :cloud9:

It's pretty hard to stay caught up but I will say

Dani- you can certainly change from all Poly CL, to POP, to whatever you want....you know how the reservation will end once you check in....all POLY CL.....but whatever works for you in between. ;)

Miss- you are adding to my thoughts of staying at AKL!!! I think I would just do pool view though, no CL....could be a pretty cheap trip.....:rolleyes1

Jen- I like the change back to BC. Truthfully, I will stay at YC/BC again. It's fantastic! But, I will do it without CL. I think you made a wise choice! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a happy Tuesday!! It's raining like crazy here (again) and we've got softball and gymnastics this evening.....it never ends....:upsidedow

Morning...ugh, once again I am reminded why I post mainly on this thread. I replied to a post on the Disabilities board and am not happy with the semi-attack I got :( I need to reply but need to calm down and figure out a non-emotional reply. While I know everyone has an opinion, and I think special needs teachers are amazing, I really don't need a lecture on how letting Steven's Asperger's dictate our trip means I am raising him to be a mini tyrant. Okay vent over, going back to snuggling in bed with my mini tyrant ;)

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

My word I went to bed & 3 pages went by!!!!

Missoutandabout that is a gorgeous shot of AKL - I never thought of taking that angle. Must...get...to...AKL....

Happy Tuesday!
