Our little thread of BIG Resort Changes~2013 Spring RC installment

Status
Not open for further replies.
Okay, yesterday I was obsessed with getting us into WL but today I have moved over to being obsessed with a deluxe room at BWI. It would put all of us in one room and yes, we would lose one bed but in March the 8yo, 6yo and myself all slept in a double at AoA so all three in a queen would be heaven. Waiting to book is killing me but I want to wait until I have the cash in hand and not put it on my cc. I know I will be happy wherever we end up staying but it's going to be a long two weeks. The upside is more time to weigh pros and cons of each resort :)

Morning...ugh, once again I am reminded why I post mainly on this thread. I replied to a post on the Disabilities board and am not happy with the semi-attack I got :( I need to reply but need to calm down and figure out a non-emotional reply. While I know everyone has an opinion, and I think special needs teachers are amazing, I really don't need a lecture on how letting Steven's Asperger's dictate our trip means I am raising him to be a mini tyrant. Okay vent over, going back to snuggling in bed with my mini tyrant ;)

Melissa I know exactly what you meant by what you said. Some people choose to misinterpret just to stir the pot with someone. You can't win here, if you let your child meltdown in public you are horrible, if you read your childs cues and plan according to them you are horrible. Sometimes not even responding to these so-called experts is a better way of getting back at them. HUGS!! Don't let it get to you. :grouphug:

Thank you  DH said the same thing, he kept telling me not to get defensive and emotional but I cant help it. I think I will just stay where it is safe and I wont be judged for not being mom of the year :lmao:

None of us are, and FWIW you do an amazing job with your kids.

My word I went to bed & 3 pages went by!!!!

Missoutandabout that is a gorgeous shot of AKL - I never thought of taking that angle. Must...get...to...AKL....

Sometime we get real chatty and other times a whole day goes by without any postings, you just never know ;)

Got an email from Delta with flight changes, I called and got it arranged a bit better for us. We're leaving earlier, but we get to WDW before noon! :dance3::banana:

:woohoo: LOVE getting to Disney earlier than expected!!!

Wow lots of early bedtimes for RCers last night. Is 1:30 considered early? Then I'm in as well :rotfl:

Sarah dragged me upstairs at 11pm because she couldn't sleep. I probably would have been up latter as well. I am always exhausted, my love when the house is quiet :ssst: and end up staying up way to late! I am guessing you are the same way :goodvibes

Oh, love the Epcot resort area! My kiddos wont stay at BWI because of the clown on the slide, but we walked through at Christmas time and I really did like it. I would think a queen size with the two little ones would be more than fine :thumbsup2

Change Alert!!!

So yesterday I booked a one way ticket to MCO for the Dec Granny trip .... which I knew I would have to change .... today SW came out with some good flight prices .... so I booked a round trip ticket. Only problem is I have to come in one day later but ...... with the money I saved on the flight and one less day at POP I was able to totally pay for a week in a 2 bedroom villa at Marriott's Cypress Harbour .... very beautiful resort! Now I'm on the lookout for a great car deal!!!

Janet if you'll please change the list:

Dec 4th - POP
Dec 5th - 12th Marriott's Villas

Now I have to decide should I book flights for Oct/Nov???? I'm pretty sure that trip will be canceled so I hate to tie up that much money. I might just hold out for SW birthday sale later this month .... maybe I'll even save a little more on the flights I booked today!!! :thumbsup2

Visiting from the pre-trip board where I spend most of my time so I didn't know about this fabulous thread. I'm planning a big upcoming trip but it's hard to change things like I want to in my should because I am bringing my Dad and my sister and her family. It's also hard to book things with a newborn so I am stuck right now with a stay I don't 100% love. I missed the 7 month reservation window. Curses! I'll live vicariously through you all for now and dream about 2014 Star Wars weekend or a tower of terror run or maybe a summer getaway or perhaps a Christmas holiday with everyone I love again.

Do you do intros here? Well, here is mine. My name is Liz, I am married almost 14 years, and we have one child who is finishing up third grade. I'm in grad school full-time, work part time, and am in the midst of a career change. Luckily, I have the summer off from school so I feel like I have a life right now! "Just" working is delightful!

I was a book editor, and a freelancer. I take a LOT of notes. I am note obsessed. I love to look things up and plan - I swear this helps me think better.

I will not list all my WDW trips because it looks crazy even to me. Suffice to say, we are not people of means but yet I have managed to take my daughter 5 times and have gone yearly since 2010 with my DIS besties to run races. (In the name of "fun")

I am a Disney addict. I am a Disney trip planning addict. I am a multiple trip planner. I am powerless over my addictions.

Also, I am totally raising a child to share these addictions!

I found this thread while planning a trip! Naturally!!!!
Liz, I am Jeanette, one out of 6 of my kiddos is a RCers...also known as HRH (Her Royal Highness) You will see her here summertime, she loves the "stickers". We lost a precious DISer in December JungleCruiser, Sarah was also from NJ, I am near Rutgers. She was closer to Morristown, she engaged with HRH and they both LOVE GF, Sarah would sent postcards from GF...okay I am off topic, but we really are a family here. We are blessed to find a new RCer! All the new RCers are so sweet, I love it!!! We will get you through school, work, planning, all of it. I am doing my Master's online. I've got a bit to go, I am bridging to my MSN, while finishing up my BSN. I've been a nurse since 1997...it's time I move up in the world.

DISNEY MAIL!!!! An "invitation" to add on points at The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort .... good thing I don't have any $$$$!
I can't believe the price...wait it's GF yes I can :(

It must be a sign!!!! First Heather posts that beautiful Cancun picture, then I'm gchatting with DD and she mentions how much she wants to go to Cancun again, and then I get my Interval International (timeshare) Magazine!!! Now I know I should be planning that Mexico trip!
Definitely a sign!!

New thread - new changes? But not from you, of course
Me change ;) OK I LOVE your post to Mama Linda :rotfl:

Sheila16 lbs!!! You go girl!!! My weight loss stopped, but since the girls birthdays I've been less strict. I'll get back on track!!

Hey ladies! (and gents...do you have any gents over here?!?!?!) Been around this thread sometimes in the past, thought I'd pop in & say how saddened I was to learn of Jungle Cruise's passing. I chatted with her a few times regarding BC. What a brave gal! I'm sure its not the same around here without her.
Of course we understand Tara! And it wasn't THAT long ago you were here. Once a member always a member!!! How about BWI CL Standard, and request a BW view as a "birthday surprise" I bet it would work!! We miss Sarah SO much:(

Sorry I haven't been able to do a real reply lately. So busy with STUFF! Had another "off" day at MK (rain and god-awful crowds then a nasty bus driver on the way back)... We never seem to get it right at MK unless it's at a party. .
YOU ARE AT WDW!!! No apologies.....keep your eye out for a new thread....tomorrow perhaps. I've been busy so it may be a cut a paste for now, but we are in the 230s

First time poster on this thread and so glad to have found it. No one in my family stresses over room choices as much as me and no one cares to hear about it. I do all the planning and everyone else just goes along with my recommendations. Maybe they have created a monster because I can think of little else, except where I want to stay.

My sister, her 4 children, my mom and myself may do a 2 night trip in mid September to go to Halloween party. I will be okay with value but really want to do WL. I am not booking for 2 weeks so we will take what we can get but I really want WL. With my sister having 4 kids, her two year old becoming a 3yo next year and her oldest becoming a dis adult the next year, I feel like this is our last opportunity for deluxe. I liked AoA in March and I guess I don't want to get my heart set on WL and have it be unavailable. However, as of today there is still availability at AKL or BWI. I just want to make the perfect choice!
Mid September, BWI for F&W......and WELCOME!!! I really liked the Halloween party, WL would give you the boat to MK...but the discount for BWI Deluxe will be better than WL Deluxe most definitely....We shall get you through the next 2 weeks and beyond (said in my bestest Buzz Lightyear voice)

Oh boy, I probably don't want to know all the details. I have a feeling I am going to be the Hand Sanitizing general
Jen
We are getting some fab ladies in the house

DCL will be WAY better Jen...LOVE the change to BC!! I could save big bucks dropping CL, but I just CAN'T...ugh, hopeless:(

Jeanette - it is going to be a long summer here....thankfully Sarah likes to sleep in and Steven gets a little alone time in the morning without her tormenting him So are you still at CR as of now, or is that changing again
Melissa
DS12 and HRH just cannot get along here. So it's kind of similar...it will be LOOONG summer days. No more naps for mom....and it's back to Poly. I guess I didn't want to change the ticker....

Sorry Sue, I think I must be the most boring RCer ever!!!
No RCer is boring!!!!

So now that I've made peace with all my changing resorts....(I think.....) I want to thank you all for helping me along the way with my Disney addiction. And I guess now I am addicted to this forum....I missed chatting while I was at work today...I just got home and now I have to go to bed and get up all over again in the morning...who invented this "working" thing anyways... Have a good nite all my new friends....love this place
We love you too!!!! Yeah work is SO overrated...will work for Disney trips !!!!!

Melissa and Linda: I am TOO Spoiled!! That is the problem! Thanks for understanding!
I hear ya!!!

Welcome to all the new RCers! (I'm normally more on the ball with my multi-quotes, honest.)

Speaking of, I applied the BB rate to our October reservation and saved ourselves $700! (I won't mention that I did check availability of my favorite resort. 2 bedroom suites only. Eek.)
:worship: WOOHOO!!!!!!!

I am debating dropping CL in October. Either that, or doing maybe Pop the first three nights since we are staying for 10 nights, maybe 11 if I do a value for part of it. I would do room only for the first few nights at the value, and 7 nights CL with DDP, since I can pick up the tickets 3 days early at DTD. That way we can do the parks and all and pay OOP for meals. I planned on paying for CG which is where we are our first night anyway.

What say you all? Sound like a good plan?
Pop/Poly CL...Hawaii is HOME sis!!! :cloud9:

No I think im the most boring RCer this trip. I haven't changed anything, really. Just keep on adding on days;) well I did switch out 2 days POFQ (my daughter thinks we are still staying there) for GF. Then decided to come in a day earlier so added one day pop. The perils of an AP!
THOSE ARE CH_CH_CHANGES!!!! I love the GF surprise!! So neato!!!

Big news RCers: My DB is back on the WDW bandwagon. Yippee. We will go for sure for 2 days/1 night in July when he visits. Now to decide which resort... I do have Poly Lagoon View CL already booked from mom's cancellation for the exact night he will fly in from NJ... It would make it soooo much easier if I just kept THAT one. ;) Hmmm, what park (s) to do? Where to eat? What pool in which to frolic? I just put my ears on and off to research I go.
popcorn::

It's pretty hard to stay caught up but I will say
I bet you'd like AKL. It's similar to the coziness of WL, but it's large enough to have plenty to explore...and the savannah are to die for :worship:

Pas-Multiple crewmembers ill?
Kitchen staff.....

Well the BWI Hostess doubles as the WL tempress (and CR too, make that Bay Lake tempress)...her resort threads ROCK!!! Doesn't help with the decision I guess...but you really can't go wrong. Her TR are linked in her signature WDWKOOK, and have great pics

I'm pretty sure the Kooster saves her handy dandy magical erasable ink pen just for us RCers. :rotfl2: Hooray for Poly CL!! :beach:

Wonderful news about your Bree! :cheer2: princess:
Thanks Ginny

WOOHOO!!!! You found us!!! WELCOME!!!! Did you just have a baby??Expecting?? We love kiddos here

ETA: Just saw...an October baby!!! Our last RC Momma was Dani when she was pregnant with Princess Lily!!! Yay!!!

Is anyone else totally frustrated that you can't register the new or renewed RFID AP's online? I hate calling in for rates & availability, I love to check online constantly. And I haven't been able to since March! I've called many, many times about it & each time they say "oh we're working on it, it will just be a few more days!" Grrrrrr........

:yay: You go Mama!! Cypress Harbour looks awesome...if only I could stay offsite with the family...even DH is addicted to onsite these days...he's the PRACTICAL one.

Truth be told I'd rather stay onsite .... who wouldn't??? :confused3 But to get a 2 bedroom villa for only $154 for the entire week .... I just couldn't pass it up! :rotfl2: Last time DD and I stayed offsite with a car we tried to see how many days we could go without riding a Disney bus .... monorail and boats didn't count .... I think we made it 6 out of 8 days! By the way, have I ever mentioned I love the boats!!! :boat:

Welcome SeptemberGirl!! :cheer2: I live in Florida now but I spent my first 25 years at the Jersey Shore. I try to get back 2x per year at least. It will always be home. :thumbsup2 Loving all your trips planned. Keep us posted on the progress. popcorn::

Thanks!!! Where in NJ? I am from Mon County. My BFF lives in Point Pleasant.

Oh, I HATE that. I used to frequent a few other boards - ones that started out as supportive and have turned into petty attacks. I am ashamed I sent people in need of support to them! Honestly, it really turned me off the Dis for a while.

There was a lovely lady who finished last at a race and she was criticized for about everything she did after that. For where she started in the next one, for where she finished, if "people like her" should even be allowed to do races...just really ugly stuff. I left that board and she and I became FB friends, and don't you know, 9 months later it's still going on. Awful.

My husband tells me not to engage, too, but it's hard not to and hard not to feel hurt. I think for me, defending others is just instinct. I wouldn't let it happen in person so I won't online.

With parenting, all kids are different and all parents need to respect other's decisions. Period.

Happy Tuesday!
A big RC welcome to Willow, SeptemberGirl, Tara and TT4! :welcome:

SeptemberGirl-We love the Epcot resorts, too. Theres just something so nice about walking around that boardwalk. :cloud9:

Thanks!!! I appreciate all the welcomes so much!

Thank you for the warm welcome and the background! I love it. I think it's very cool that both you and your daughter are on this thread. My mom and I were very close, although she did not share my love of changing plans, she did love scheming with me.

I saw some posts about your friend Sarah. I am so sorry for your loss. My mom died of metastatic breast cancer in September. I don't mean to trot out my whole life, but I do understand that loss very well. She was one of my best friends and I miss her every day.

Rutgers! My husband is a RU football fan. I lose him every fall to the games!

You can't pass it up!!! Such a deal. The boats make me feel like I'm really on vacation. :goodvibes

Warning - just need to vent...

So I have a TA for whatever reason...(I was pricing out different companies in comparison last year and since he ran all sorts of numbers and options for me, I went ahead and used him instead of booking it myself). Well, I used him this year too and generally he's on top of things and he's used to all my changes (although I tried to do some of my ADR changes myself this time). But I talked to him yesterday about the switch to CBR and he said he'd take care of it when he got home last night, but everything still says AKL online right now. No new email with the new requests listed and no ability to check in online yet then! :-/ I know it's not a huge deal because I'm fairly certain the pirate rooms are not going to sell out or anything, but still...I want to get everything squared away and paid for before he goes on his own trip to Disney next week!

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled programming... :-)

Hi Alysa!! I still say I love your creative movie nights!! THey are awesome! Did you get that heavy rain last night?? Thank goodness the sun is out here today!

Liz: I know what you mean , I still don't understand why one would sign up for a support thread, or even Disney forum for that matter and then decide to just be mean and judgmental. Their real lives must be severely lacking.

So sorry about your mother. How heartbreaking.

Warning - just need to vent...

Ack....how frustrating!!! Hope you can get it all sorted out.

Well, DH didn't bat an eyelash as he was listening to my conversation with CRO last night, thank goodness. He just accepts my nuttiness now!;) He has gone golfing at Glen Abbey today (a very posh golf course!:snooty: and we are so not posh!) He had to go and buy some acceptable golf shorts to wear as apparently his cargo shorts were not going to cut it there!

So I am on my own with a houseful of 5 girls after school, a couple of playdates going on over here. They all have AG dolls, so it should be cute. And my fridge is pretty near empty!! Looks like a pizza night.:p WISH ME LUCK!!
