Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Told my TA I was trying to convince DH to do a split stay over 4th of July then... Lol. He did say he wouldn't be able to make changes for a few days though due to the FD offer now. He said hold times were 4 hours this morning. That's just crazy!!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I've been busy trying to get everything ready for our trip. I have really let the laundry pile up. As soon as I get home, I get two loads washed, dried, and put away.

Good news....only 9 days until we leave for our vacation!! I was talking to the woman that is going to trim my hair the day before we leave on vacation. When I told her that on part of our trip, we were going to Disneyland. She asked me "the one in Florida or Califonia?" This was after I told her we were going to see the Grand Canyon and Meteor Crater on the way to Disneyland.

Then I may have to quit working at my friend's in home daycare. I knew my bil could kind of be a pain to her, and he's currently not talking to me or my hubby, but I didn't know it was as bad as it is. He screams, cusses, and calls her retarded multiple times a day. Today it was because my fil cleaned black paint off the bil's suv that one of the tech's (that's not related to the family) put there when he hit it with his truck.

Y'all have a good night. I'm going to attempt going to bed early since I have JM's end of the year/ transitioning to high school ARD.

Ch-ch-ch-changes!!!! :cool1:

Well, seeing that DW had a late summer/early fall discount, we took advantage! We added another night, so we're now leaving Monday Sept 8th and getting an extra day in a park! (either AK, Epcot or HS) :cool1: We will be staying at Pop Century the first night and then heading over the POFQ for the rest of our vacation.

And, I still need to apply the room only discount to our POFQ stay! :woohoo: I will call later this week when the FD frenzy eases up. :goodvibes

So that means, we're only 123 days from departure! princess:

Ack!! The United site is down right now!! How can I obsessively check flights to make sure my change is a viable one if it's down?? :-/

Still working on DH for the split stay...thinking of going ahead and keeping CL at WL for the second part of our stay... :-) May mean we do a couple more QS restaurants, but I am sure I will live without my fillet from Le Cellier...maybe... Lol

Frustrating!!

Definitely not conducive for ch-ch-changers! :rolleyes1

Yeah!! The app was at least working!! :-)

Good! Glad it was working for you.

Well, I went ahead and called Disney today (crazy I know!!), and applied the room discount, and we saved almost $300 dollars! So now, we're pretty much where we started at. Score! :goodvibes

The agent was shocked I wasn't trying to get the FD promotion. She said I was the one of the only ones! :rotfl:

I said, well FQ isn't in the promotion so we're good. FD isn't the best deal for us.

Congrats on the savings!! Before our kids became "Disney adults" FD wasn't a big deal to us. Now that they are, it works out better for us. Especially since we have two teenage boys that have black holes where their stomachs should be.

Kohl - I hope you get all the pieces together for the perfect split!!! *HUGS*

Piglet - W00t! on the savings!!!! I totally understand: for December we can't beat FD because it lasts through our whole trip even when other promotions would stop... but for Sept we are holding tight to our RO discount.

Wookie - It's the FINAL COUNTDOWN (cue Europe and the synthesizers!) WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!:dance3:

Busch Gardens Williamsburg tomorrow to take DD6 on her first looping coaster! She rocked her first 'grown up' coasters last weekend at Six Flags (two woodies); front car and hands up by the second ride. Then off to absorb some history in the area.

Still rolling around the idea of a split with AKL for Sept... *sighs* now with FD I doubt I can get anything. Maybe I'll have TA take a gander in the next few weeks. Just to see. You know... for posterity. :rolleyes1

HAPPY FRIDAY to all and :grouphug:

I so love that song!! We're almost done to a week on our countdown!! We were planning on picking up the boys at the start of Joey's athletics, but now the DH acts like he wants to pick them up earlier. We still need to talk about how early we want to do that.

I'm glad she did so well. I love coasters, but they don't love me. Have fun tomorrow.

I love the AKL!! I could happily sit by that pool all day tomorrow.

:wave2: hopelessly behind things! Had rough couple of weeks at work. Filling in for my boss, having to be in at 6:45 AM :faint: short staffed :sad2: I'm tired!! So fell asleep on sofa watching TV prob around 8:00 now I'm wide awake :crazy2: just great!!!

Only thinking about minor plan change. Lol. Thinking about leaving Deerfield Beach area a day early, and book a Universal off site hotel for the night, so we can do early check in at Portofino the next morning and take advantage of early park opening. Without having to hit the road from Deerfield at 5:00 AM or earlier. Looking at hotels near by, Fairfield, Four Points, Hyatt, Doubletree, Hampton. Anyone have opinion? We've stayed at both Doubletree & Fourpoints.

Wishing everyone a a Happy Mothers Day!

Awesome!!

So for those of you who don't use the dining plan, do you figure a certain amount for food costs? Do you use Allears.net and price out meals? Or distripplanner.com? Or something else entirely?

And those of you who do CL, how do you maximize your use of the lounge offerings? Breakfast, yes. Are you usually around for the hot apps in the evenings? Do you still do a TS dinner? Or a lunch instead?

Thanks!! :-)

I have no changes to make for resorts for either of my upcoming trips, so now I just keep stalking Dining Reservations for a BOG October reservation :rotfl:

So sorry for a long week!!! Hope you get some reprieve this weekend!
I am not terribly familiar with the Universal area resorts but I have heard mixed things about the Fairfield and decent thing about Hampton (if it's the ones I'm thinking of). The Hyatt looks nice, though!!! Wish I could offer more help!

Can't speak for CL but we used distripplanner for Sept to decide if we wanted to do DP or pay OOP - we knew we would be booking over the DP allotment so it helped us decide. Honestly, I find that I often OVER-estimate OOP because I expect to buy snacks or eat a bigger meal than I end up doing. Since you're going in the heat of summer, you might eat less than expected because of the heat or snack more than expected to grab an ice cream and cool-off. Still, I found distripplanner to be pretty accurate to what I was estimating and I'd rather estimate HIGH and save than be low. :thumbsup2

Had oodles of fun at BG yesterday. LOTS of school groups but we let them get ahead of us and enjoyed the scenery and just a few rides until they left... then it was about 5-10 minutes waits for most every coaster. VERBOLTEN is a crazy coaster!!! I thought I was ready for anything but this little guy caught me off-guard!

Hemming and hawing about keeping MM F! for Sept... can't decide how necessary the package is. Hate the thought of eating dinner at 4p, however the parks close early (8 I think?) so we can always grab a late snack. And our early meal that day is an 8a Akerhaus so it's not like we have a late lunch to fight with. :scratchin

Also, I have Sanaa booked for Sept but am wondering if we should push it to Dec when we're on DP? Or maybe do it light in Sept and do it again in Dec with more gusto? I see many people love it so twice may not be too crazy. Thoughts?

Finally, considering doing a character meal out of park with the entire fam in Dec. Would you recommend CM, Cape May, something else? Do you think PF would be good?

:wave2: to everyone!!! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
princess:HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY princess: to all the Mommas in case I can't get on tomorrow!!!

Have not tried Cape May, but CM is a staple for us because of the kids. As for PF...I really enjoyed dinner there with Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the Stepmother and stepsisters. Very fun and decent food (including sushi that DH was happy to find on a buffet and their famous strawberry soup!). Breakfast was decent food if I remember correctly, and the interaction with the Mad Hatter was fun. :-) but otherwise, it seemed louder and more chaotic (if that's possible) than some of the other character meals IMO and the characters are kind of a hodgepodge...still haven't quite figured out the theming of the place with Alice in Wonderland AND Mary Poppins AND Pooh and Tigger (at breakfast).

Yes, we maximize CL. Learned from experience, lol. First CL stay we did dinner ADRs, so didn't get any of the evening offerings, sometimes we were back for appertifs and dessert, but usually too full from dinner. After that stay we booked late lunch ADRs, then enjoyed evening lounge offerings. We thought if we were still hungry we could nip down to the CS to pick up something, but we never were.
Breakfast was always in CL, we aren't breakfast ADR people. We may do one on leaving day. DDP needless to say, is a waste for us on CL stays.

I'm off DDP most times anyway, CL or not. I use Allears to calculate dining $

DH agreed to the split!!!

7/2-7/7 at CSR and 7/7-7/11 at WL CL!!

I'm going to be picking your brains in re: to split stays and the easiest way to transfer between resorts, etc. :-)

Also, has anyone booked with Orbitz? What do you have to do to get the Disney number and add to MDE and add kids to the reservation with Disney?
