Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Anyone have any suggestions for me, I keep changing my mind about where I'd like to stay and I haven't even booked yet lol. I'm looking to go end of next April. Do I want the Polynesian or Grand Floridian at a standard garden view type room? Or for the same roughly speaking price, Animal Kingdom Club level? There's also Wilderness Lodge cause I've never stayed there either. Or the Boardwalk. I keep changing my mind from one to the other.
Thing is, I am a first time annual pass holder (haven't even used it yet, just got it) Also, I have a few days planned for staying at Disney this October which is already booked. So, I could wait and see if there is an annual pass discount for next April, or a bounceback offer when I go in October. If I got one of the 35 percent discounts I've read about then maybe I could afford a club level at one of the monorail resorts.
Any suggestions?

Thanks. I definitely think if we do still go at the scheduled time that I will change a few things so it's a different type of Disney trip and he can have some downtime to recharge so to speak...there are a couple of other options for later in July we could do without having to cancel...and I will definitely ask him what he wants to do, but I am not sure if it's best to have vacation as a buffer before jumping back into work or let him jump back into work right away then vacation...

Anyway, thanks for all the support. You guys are awesome here!

:scratchin That is a difficult decision!! Since you are going to be there in October, I would wait and see if you get a bb offer. What resort are you staying at?

Going to have to talk to the TA tomorrow and see what options we have...

Do we cancel completely or postpone or what...?

MIL is in a morphine induced coma right now. One of the tumors has wrapped itself around the colon and cut it off pretty much. They are saying a day or two or could be a week, but definitely not long. She has a DNR and they're not doing a feeding tube or anything...at least she is finally able to sleep without any pain...

I don't know what to do at this point...

I'm so sorry to hear that!!! You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers! :grouphug:

Hello all!
Quick pop-in - been running around trying to get all the ducks in line before ILs leave this weekend! Did make it to Arlington National Cemetery yesterday - really meaningful as we are a military heavy family and my nephew was in the Army when he passed.

Hope all is well!
Kohl - been keeping tabs on your postings. So sorry you are going through this but I totally understand your situation. I say follow you and DH's gut... if you think you need the trip, I would go and not feel guilty. Unfortunately, in situations like this, if you know things are headed one way it is hard to stop everything and 'wait'. Before my grandfather passed, he used to tell me "don't stop living while you wait for me to die... you'll die before you had a chance to live". I think stepping away might be great for you and DH but I also know you need to do what will put your mind at the most ease. *HUGS*

To the new posters I see: feel free to ask and reask and contort things around - this group is an amazing resource and a wonderful support for things Disney and things less magical!!!

*HUGS* to all! No resort ch-ch-changes but totally messing around with ADRs (since it's Christmas so many things disappear and reappear!). Still haven't gotten the 'sorry' letter from WL, even though a friend nearby who booked after me did... yesterday :confused3 Oh well, still holding strong there unless YC has a mass evacuation of rooms!

Take care, all! And have a wonderful week! :grouphug:

All great choices. Only one I haven't stayed at is Boardwalk, only because theme doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather BC or YC for Epcot resorts.
I have to say, AKL CL is amazing!! We stayed there 2 yrs ago. But there is no bad choice. Since you'll be in wdw October maybe you could do a resort tour while you're there and walk around the grounds, lobby's, etc and see which one appeals. Go have a lunch or dinner at some. That's what we did one year. We were returning in 6 mos, and couldn't decide between CSR & POR, so we went to both and walked around. POR was the one that called out to me. The moment we started strolling along the river I knew!!

Nice seeing you on here again! :-)

Thanks again all for the prayers. DH said her stats were dropping last night, but I haven't gotten any updates this morning yet. (He stayed at the hospital last night). Took the kids up to see her (and FIL) for a bit yesterday. Can't tell if FIL is still holding on or not... :-/

 just checking in. Sending Prayers to you and your family.

So DMIL passed away peacefully this morning at about 9am. Both DH and DBIL (her two boys) were with her when she took her last breath. DH says he needs the vacation to get away and decompress so he has bereavement through the 1st, then vacation...

Good morning my RCSIC (Resort Change Sisters-In-Crime). School is finally out for summer. Playing catch-up with my Disney Trip Planning. I am booked and paid-in-full at (drum roll)....... Animal Kingdom Lodge.....BUT....my eyes are glued on Contemporary Resort.....longing....wanting to cha cha change....

I've been skulking around the Contemporary Thread incognito :3dglasses, :cool2::santa: (don't think anyone noticed.....)

So far we are 3 days at Hard Rock @ Universal and 5 at AKL.....(not for long if you ask me)

I had to come by and say hello to my peeps. I miss my morning RC check-ins. Who is our current queen?

Have a magical, day everyone. May the Resort Changing Forces be with you all.

For April I would definitely suggest an Epcot resort for Flower and Garden, however that said...the refurbs have had me :crazy2: AKL is awesome, but April is crowded so location may be a better benefit...WL CL is doable with an AP discount and probably comparable to a GV room price wise as GF..The Poly may still be under construction so I'd be very wary booking there...
:welcome: to the RC thread, and we are VERY happy to help you work out this decision!!!:goodvibes

Gotta do a little :dance3: for stepdisney (yes, you've made my day my friend)
