~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

OH i am so on board with this one.. great report! Great Pics!!

Glad to have you along!

I have...in DL...so long ago that even I don't remember it so well. There are some things you think you will always remember... but 19 years of other events kinda fogs the memory.:rotfl:

It's just all part of what makes going to Disney special for me, rediscovering all the things I loved about it when I was younger, and seeing it all over again through the eyes of a child...I'm making myself sappy over here...

I can't wait to take my kids!

Awww I just love Jungle Cruise. Seriously, I find myself laughing out loud at all the corny jokes. It's such a purely fun ride... and we've never had a long wait for it either! It's so great to get a skipper who is really into the jokes. And I totally think the JC is best at night.:goodvibes

It is so much fun!

Okay you have me so sad I have black tears rolling down my face. :rotfl2: You have to add your 80's pic! It's all in good fun. :goodvibes Come on don't be shy!

Haha, sorry...I don't feel good at ALL today.

Attraction of the Day...

Tower Of Terror

So...we're back in '01 when we went over Christmas with my whole family...We're all across the back row: mom, me, grandma, grandpa, sis, and uncle. Sis ends up in that open sit in the aisle, so she has no bench in front of her. As we start dropping, my grandpa and uncle were freaking out thinking she was gonna go flying so here we all are screaming and mom and I look over and them and they have their arms all the way across sis. I guess it was one of those 'you had to be there' kind of moments because mom and I couldn't stop laughing the rest of the ride!

Too funny! My favorite memory was going on it with my dad for the first time, since we're the only ones who will ride it. I'd gone on it in 2001 with friends and was mesmerized by the whole thing since I thought you just went up and dropped... I had no idea about all the special effects! On that trip though we only dropped once, it was before the whole random sequence. So when I went on it with my dad in 2005 it was a surprise to both of us and we had a blast!

Ok, I actually have two memories from this one!! The first is from the first time I rode it, which was in Feb. of 2002, when I was there with my dance team. We went to ride it, and several people in my group were hesitant, so we dragged them on it as - yes, kinda mean. Anyway, then we dragged them on it again (no lines!!), and finally for a third time. After that, we were kinda all tapped out, riding it three times in a row. :)

My second memory is when I went with my family in summer of '06. I don't remember where we were sitting, but I do remember that there were these little twin girls, probably 7 or 8, with this white-blonde hair. They sat with their mom and dad in the very back row of the elevator, but the CM made them sit on opposite sides, so there was an empty seat between the two girls.
Mom, Twin 1, empty seat, Twin 2, Dad

Anyway, when we got off, and looked at the photo, the little girls were holding hands in the empty seat. It was the cutest thing I had ever seen!

I love the random sequences! :thumbsup2

Awesome two memories! :woohoo:

Whoa, three times in a row?! Crazy girl! :scared1:

Awww that's so cute about the twins holding hands. How come they were separated?

Ha! No one in my family likes to sit in that one seat in the back row. They all figure they are going to fly out too. I've had to switch seats so many times b/c of that.

My favorite ToT memory involves one of my nephews. He was about 6 at the time and he would not stop talking about riding it. He was pumped. Well, we get on the ride and he looks a bit nervous. He says he's okay, just excited. I keep looking over at him and he just has this stoned look on his face. I'm nervous for him at this point. As soon as we drop, he grabs my arm and he looks like he's going to scream, but instead yells, "I'M NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!" Everyone on the ride was cracking up. Poor little guy...he was not a fan.

Another memory, I absolutely love ToT at night! We left Fantasmic a right before the finale was done (yes, I know... sacrilegious) and walked right on ToT. We were one of the few people on it. It was really kind of eerie, but so much fun!!

Ahhhh ToT. I love that ride!!!:goodvibes

Unfortunately, my poor DM does not feel the same. She went on it for the first time in July and hated it, but it cracked her back and made it feel better so I convinced her to go on it later that day. We got right to the front and then she chickened out (the CMs were so nice to her!) and I ended up beside a man from Ireland and it was his first time riding. He was so terrified!! From the second he introduced himself to the second the elevator dropped, he kept asking me over and over if it was as bad as it looked, if it was really that scary etc. He was probably about 40? And nobody else from his family would ride with him.

When the ride was over he had the hugest grin on his face and thanked me for reassuring him that the ride would be fun. He walked right back into the standby line after exiting!

I have a memory!!! :yay:

I remember riding it for the first time in 05. I had no idea what to expect besides the going up and getting dropped down and I thought it was like one time, not over and over! So when it started I was in shock at the little ride you go on before you start falling. Then I remember falling over and over again and literally coming out of my seat, hearing grown men screaming behind me! I loveeee ToT! :goodvibes

Okay, so I LOVE ToT, but it's the only ride at WDW that can leave me weak in the knees. Literally. I sometimes have trouble walking off of it. I don't know why because I love the ride itself, but gosh darn it if it doesn't make my legs like jelly! :lmao:

My favorite memory is probably when I rode it with my aunt during evening EMH one year. It was my first time riding it at night, and I remember when the doors opened at the top, the view literally took my breath away. :lovestruc It was so beautiful! Plus, it was my first time seeing the "ghosts" during the fall because my eyes were already adjusted to the dark. :thumbsup2

I LOVE ToT!!! I didn't like it at first, but I kept riding it and now it's one of my most favorite rides! That wooshing feeling you get in your stomach just makes me laugh! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I LOVE RnRc too!! DH made me go on it back in 2004 and I almost punched him when we got off the ride because it makes a loop! I was shaking and crying. GRRR But, when we went in 2007, by ourselves, and I knew he wanted to ride it, I went. And then I went again. Pretty soon we were playing a game of what face to make next for the camera! It was SO awesome. Can't wait to ride it with my kids.

ToT is so cool at night! Definately makes it scarier!

Aw, too bad your DM chickened out. At least you made friends with the Ireland guy! :thumbsup2

Everybody! Can I have your attention?! She has a memory for this one! :woohoo:

I had no idea what to expect my first time either. I had to work up a lot of nerves to get on it.

Isn't the view at night gorgeous?!

I always end up laughing on ToT too! :rotfl:

tower of tower.....only my FAVORITE ride!!!!! i just love this ride. my favorite memory is of course the first time i rode it because i was SCARED to DEATH! but that's what made it so fun. here's the video.....i have to share! ;) listen close for me wimpering and saying, "this sucks" or "i hate this" next to ray. then listen to me screaming the entire ride and saying, "oh, god!!!!" and of course there's ray's nervous little laugh that he does that always cracks me up!

oh, and then there's the time erica and i rode it and we both called our hubbies during the ride. you can't see my phone in the picture but look at her - she's just looking at phone, no big thing. it's like she's not about to free fall 13 stories or anything!!!!! :rotfl2:

sorry for the pics/video but i had to share them since this one's my favorite ride!

Haha ok so the last time I was on ToT I was with my friend and I told her that I get freaked out easily. So when we got to the top and dropped I screamed bloody murder. I mean it was bad. She didn't even scream oh and to top it off she had her hands up in the air. :confused3 When we got off I told her I was sorry and she just laughed and said she was expecting me to be a lot worse. I like ToT but I need a lot of coaxing to go on.

Great video, Dawn! That was one screaming bunch of people on that elevator.

My friend who is going with me on our March trip rode it for the first time a couple of years ago. She didn't take me seriously when I said to hold down her bag. She halfway held onto it, but at one point in the ride it was flying in the air and just about came down on the head of the man in front of us. She laughed during the entire up and down sequence. She pretty much just works and goes to school and takes care of her family all the time, so it was nice to see her having so much fun.

Haha..it's okay, I get so nervous going on ToT!! I have to talk myself into keeping calm and relaxed.

Haha, was the man okay?! I mean if he got hit with my bag-he'd probably get knocked out with all the stuff that's in it.

Hey girl sorry for not stopping by i've been sick but im going to catch up to the report now. Hope all is well :grouphug:

ToT - so before we even went on ToT, I was hounding the other moms in DSs class that I knew had recently been to WDW to see what their kids thought of ToT. How scary was it? How bad was it? Etc. I asked, did they like the ride? One girl's mom said, Girl, she rode it 10 times!:rotfl:

So, I didn't think it would be too bad... I'd done a similar ride at Marriot's Great America, which is Northern California, and only goes up and then down once. We would all put pennies on our knees to watch the pennies go up in the air when you suddenly are sucked down faster than gravity...

So we timed it pretty good, our FPs time started soon after Fantasmic got out. We went through the whole thing. DS kept going back and forth on whether or not he would really ride the ride. He changed his mind a zillion times. He did decide to ride.

He survived. But he didn't really enjoy it. Judging from the picture, I think he was seriously, seriously scared. He was a new 6, btw.

DH guffawed (there is no other word for it) the ENTIRE time we did the up and down!:lmao: He LOVED it.

Anyway, my favorite memory associated with this ride is how DS would talk to people on the buses. We are social and generally get to talking. He had more fun telling people, very proudly I might add, that HE RODE TOWER of TERROR!::yes:: Especially when they were older people who were talking about how freaked out they were to ride it!:goodvibes

Awesome two memories! :woohoo:

Whoa, three times in a row?! Crazy girl! :scared1:

Awww that's so cute about the twins holding hands. How come they were separated?

I don't know why the CM made the little girls sit with a seat inbetween them. Maybe something about having all the seats on the sides filled? I dunno...
