~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

Attraction of the Day...

DTD Marketplace

So what's everyone's favorite shops/things to do at the Marketplace? Here's what we do: When we first get there, we always have to pose by the "Happy Holidays" Christmas thing outside the Christmas gift shop. Then, we go in and sis, B/F, and I each get to pick out an ornament for the year. Then, we pick one as a family.

We also love the big World of Disney store. Man that thing's huge! So, we always make sure to have our cell phones in our pockets and on ring/vibrate so we can call each other if we get separated.

We also love the Team Mickey store and the store that's connected to it, which has Billabong, Roxy, etc. stuff.

B/F LOVES the Lego store. Every year, he buys one of the big things to build. He usually starts building them in the room when we come back at nights.

Then, we go over to the Margarita stand and get drinks. Now, this will be my first trip and B/F's first trip to WDW being old enough to drink! No more non-alcoholic drinks from the Margarita stand! :woohoo: Poor sis. :rotfl: Then, we find a table by the water with our drinks, and just enjoy being there. I think this part was one of the highlights of our 2001 trip when we went with the grandparents and uncle. They loved it.

Also...

Wish me luck everybody! Today at 1:30, I have my interview with the Graduate Program. I've sent in my application, my transcripts, and my resume. Now all I have to do is the interview, which is the final step before they decide to admit me or not. Cross your fingers!

We love the pin store, WOD, The Christmas store, Earl of Sandwich, and Goofy's Candy Co.

Good luck today girl. I know you will get it.

I haven't tried Earl of Sandwich or Goofy's Candy Co.!

I hope I do! Thanks Lynn.

Earl has three kinds of sandwiches - good, gooder, and goodest!!!
You've gotta give it a try in June.

Goofy's is a hoppin' place, and there's a reason. When you walk in, you get a sugar rush just from the air around you! ;) It's a good place to get souvenirs for little ones.

The whole Downtown Marketplace is an awesome attraction for avid shoppers (window shopping mostly) like me! I could gush on about how much I love World of Disney, Once Upon a Toy, Basin, Team Mickey, TrenD, Twelve Days of Christmas, Design-a-Tee, Pin Traders, Lego Store...

Yeah, I could go on, but I better stop. My students are having their snack right now, but it's almost time to finish up and start Social Studies. I'll check in later for everyone else's DTD memories and thoughts.

Good luck with all the big things that are going on in your world today.
I'm sure you'll do fine!

Oooh, we might have to eat at Earl of Sandwich for lunch on our DTD day!

Haha, have fun with Social Studies! :thumbsup2

I'll let y'all know how the interview went later!

I haven't commented in a while....but I am still here following along!
I love DTD! I make a trip to DTD even when I am in Florida and NOT going to WDW. (GASP, she said what???) I know. I love wandering in the huge Disney store there, and taking pictures with the lego families. We always go to Ghiridelli's when we are there and get some ice cream. It's our favorite thing to do at DTD!

Good luck with your interview with the grad program! I know you will do awesome. Much pixie dust your way! :)

Glad you're still here! Soon it will be May and only a month away from my trip! Then, I will start doing a "1 month from Today" update every day! :woohoo:

 Wow, being in the WDW area and only going to DTD?! I couldn't do that! So props to you.

Really, I wonder how many people actually miss all the decorations, detail, stuff in the World of Disney store. I love looking up at it all.

Thanks about the interview. I'll let everyone know how it went when I get back to the apartment. :)

Update...

So, as I said earlier, today was my interview with the Graduate program. I had to go sit in the main office while a guy before me was getting interviewed. He came back into the office while the interviewers had to decide if they wanted to admit him or not. It took them about 10 minutes to discuss it, then they called him back. He came back out, looking sad, and said that they turned him down! So I was nervous!

Then, it was my turn. They brought me in and I met with a lady and two guys. They asked me questions like "Why this college?" "Why this program?" "What do you want to learn about yourself?" Then, I went back out to the office to wait for them to talk it over. The lady came to get me like 1 minute later and said, "That was the fastest decision we've ever made!" So, I went back in and sat down. They said "Congratulations! We'd love to have you." And told me what they liked about my interview. They said they liked my genuineness. Now all I have to do is fill out an application for the Graduate Assistantship. So, I will work interning during the day and take classes at night.

I called my parents and my dad said that I get to pick where we eat tomorrow night because they're taking me out to celebrate! :woohoo:

Attraction of the Day...

Disney Quest

Another one we haven't done before. What all is in there?

Well this is on our list of things to do this trip, I am not looking forward to it because I'm not really into arcades. :confused3 But my DH 30, DS 10, and DS 6 all love video games, so much that I hide the WI controllers so they do not play all day when I am at work on the weekends. But I will just buck up and go with a smile on my face knowing that they will get sick of the long lines fast. :rolleyes1 Its just plain illegal to be unhappy at Disney.

My favorite stores at DTD are the World of Disney (of course!) and the Pin Traders store. Last May we ate at the Rainforest Cafe and that was pretty awesome. :thumbsup2

And congrats on getting into the graduate program!

Congrats on getting into the graduate program!!!

That is awesome! Congratulations!!!

Now...as for DisneyQuest. I love the place. (And I don't even like video games all that much. :goodvibes) My favorite is the family Pirate ride. DTD in general I despise because of the crowds. I hate the Disney Store. It's always packed and that freaks me out. If I had a lot of money and could afford to shop I'd probably like that area better. :lmao:

CONGRATULATIONS BFF ON GETTING INTO THE GRADUATE PROGRAM!! :yay:

Now about DTD, I just love it there. Chris's favorite place in WDW: Pleasure Island  but thats not the Marketplace. You're plan sounds kind of like what we just did. Except instead of getting delicious Margaritas at the stand in the marketplace, I got a crap-tastic one from Epcot. Gross.

Haha, or while they're at Disney Quest you can enjoy some shopping, which I'm sure they don't like! Haha.

Thanks! I'll be getting my Master's in Counselor Education with an emphasis on Student Personnel.

And congrats on getting into the graduate program!

I have looked around the Pin Traders store before, just not in detail because I haven't gotten into that.

Thanks!

Congrats on getting into the graduate program!!!

Thanks BFF! Stupid cell phones. You should've known sooner!

Ugh, thanks for reminding me NOT to get the margaritas at Epcot!

CONGRATULATIONS girl!!!! I'm so excited for you getting into the grad program!:banana::banana:

Thanks girl!

That is awesome news! I guess you really don't have time for a job;)

I knew you were in before you even went to the interview.
Good job!
Have fun celebrating with your family!

Thanks, Tim! The nice thing about this assistantship is I will get paid for it whiel getting hands on experience.

I knew you were in before you even went to the interview.
Good job!

Aw, thanks MeMom. :)

It's wonderful! If you like sweet stuff (especially chocolate) you must try it this trip. It's pretty much right next to the World of Disney Store, not the side the lego store is on but the other side (hope that makes sense).

Ooooooooooooh THAT'S where it is. I was having a brain fart. :)
