DAY THREE - Mon. 7/17/06
Let the vacation begin...Ill be damned if this ER thing is going to keep me down!!!!
We decided to do MGM today, as we already had an ADR at 50's Prime Time for lunch. Ate some quick muffins in the hotel and off we went. First to Tower, then to RRC with a FP....if I survive those rides, I figure Im good for the rest of the week....and survive I did...though I must admit I was a little nervous. The park was FULL of Brazilian tour troups.
..wearing brightly colored spandex.
...but I digress. Everywhere you turned....a zillion kids in line for a ride. We could see that FP would be our only hope this week, so we got FPs for LMA show....that was pretty cool, even though Im not much of a show person....please dont make me sit through Indiana Jones again....I beg of you.....
Ducked into 50's PT just as the skies looked like they were about to open up and had a leisurely lunch, though our server wasnt very into it. Matter of fact, I dont find that any of the servers are as into their roles as they used to be. Kind of a disappointment, though my pot roast was pretty good. DD20 said her meatloaf tasted like Spam....hey, were from New Orleans... Spam is standard hurricane survival food....we dont want to eat it on vacation!! We HAD to order dessert...it was raining outside...we were trying to kill time...you gotta do what you gotta do!!
With our bellies full, it was time to venture out.
Put on our trusty ponchos, did a few more things as the park emptied out, then headed over to AK for EMH night. It was barely drizzling and the people were heading out of the park in droves...Yippee!!! Aint no rain gonna stop us!
We were supposed to eat at Rainforest Café at 7pm, but blew that off, as AKs EMH hours are pretty short.....only until 10pm. Walked right onto Bugs Life, and then right onto Kali....with our ponchos on....hey, I wasnt born yesterday. Im sure getting soaked is the great thing about this ride for some of you, but I was already chilly and as it turns out, it was a wise move because DD20 and I were to the ones to get the monsoon on us...thank you ponchos.
Waited in line about 20 mins for EE....we loved that ride....
DD15 even bought the beach towel as one of her souvenirs. As I was getting on EE, my flip flop broke, so after the ride, I hobbled around until I could buy a new pair of shoes in one of the stores. With lovely new glittery blue shoes on my feet (that Ill probably never wear again, plus they hurt), we headed over to Flame Tree for some bbq for dinner. Really enjoyed my pork sandwich and just relaxing in the pavillion overlooking the lake and EE. Did a few more things, then headed back to EE....about a 30 minute wait this time, but well worth it.
Not bad for our first full day....we got a LOT done today...with no naps or breaks in between. Time for a shower and some milk and cookies back at Pop.
