Got back over a week ago but just not had time to drop in, so here are my highs and lows:
Highs
Meeting Rachel (IloveDLP) and her gorgeous family including 2 stunning little princes in Salon Mickey :wave2:
Met up with some other FB friends too, always fun to find like minded folks to chat to
Kyriad Hotel I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again
Getting our Dream passes even though we had to queue for an hour and a half to get into the AP office
Halloween Soiree, especially Discoveryland with Stitch and Angels' disco and the weirdest Steampunk costumed band were superb as were many guests costumes and in Adventureland the lighting around the Galleon and fires on the beaches were awesome.
Ratatouille not as amazing as I was expecting, but enjoyed it. But after the 2 and a half hour queue for it I was in a lot of pain, see my lows this may have tarnished my view of the experience a little.
ToT - On my own !!! I found a FP in our flying carpet, so had to use it, love love love that ride, makes me laugh thinking about it :)

Lows
One very very big one, I've suffered with Plantar fasciitis for years on and off and it's been deteriorating again recently, 1 day in the park was enough to bring on acute episode in my right foot, because I was trying to compensate by leaning on my left leg as often as I could, the left foot decided to come out in sympathy. Basically I would dose myself up with Co-Codamol and Ibuprofen, we'd go to the park for 2/3 hours and then I had to go back to the hotel and rest for a few hours. I did go to First Aid but they couldn't give me any stronger painkillers than I had with me although they did offer a wheelchair, which incidently I could've had free with my new Dream Pass, aah the irony! Needless to say I didn't, if for no other reason than as novices we would never had manoevered it through the crowds.

Overall the trip was pretty awful
Although previously warned I hadn't anticipated the crowd levels would be so huge, it wouldn't have been such a big deal without the foot problem. Over 5 days we rode POTC twice, IASW twice, The Rat once, BTM once, Fantasyland rides all ridden once in an evening oh and ToT once.
The day before we came home we spent a day just watching the shows in the Studios basically so I could just sit down all day and on our last day we stayed at the hotel only venturing out to Annette's for lunch.
The Harvest decorations while very pretty don't say Halloween to me, I much preferred the previous spookier themes.
I'd love to go back fit and well and in a costume for the Halloween Soiree though.:)
I spoke to few other frequent visitors, who basically all said the same thing, that because it was their 4th, 7th, 10th etc. trip they weren't too bothered about the rides, but if it had been a 1st trip they'd be disappointed and wouldn't recommend Halloween half term week for a first time visitor, which was pretty much how we felt.

oh Jill I'm so sorry to hear about your health problems while you were at DLP :sad1:.

yes, thats exactly why I try to dissuade friends/colleagues etc from making their first trips to DLP during the English October half term holidays.

Oh dear! It's such a shame when physical discomfort spoils a trip :sad1: We were there that week, but only for 2 nights and due to lots of walking and breaking in new boots my feet got very sore (not pleasant, but not enough to spoil things) It was very busy, but as you said we did expect it.
I liked the Halloween theming, my first Halloween visit was 2011 which was the year they removed the pink Witches and the park was really quite bare so it was definitely much better than that. My favourite was the parade which I suppose is more Autumnal than spooky.
Glad you enjoyed the Kyriad I almost booked offsite this time, but went for santa fe with francillian AP's in the end.
Hope you're feeling well enough to enjoy another AP trip later in the year :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear you had such a bad problem and no wonder it spoilt your trip :(

Last time i was there for halloween it was 2008 and can't say if it was english half term or not (i am in Italy) but i found it pretty manageable.

Glad to hear about the kyriad as i will stay there in three weeks :D

Sorry to hear about your foot. DH has the same atm and it did bother him but he managed. To be fair he only did all day Saturday and most of Sunday as he joined us late.

Just shows how everyone is different and has different experiences, as we had an amazing weekend and other than 31 Oct itself we found crowds very reasonable. We did EMH in the studios on the Saturday morning and had been on 6 rides by 8.30 am including Crush twice!

We also loved the decs. Found the bandstand area very pretty indeed. And loved the pumpkin men in Frontierland. Also loved how the castle was bathed in red lights at night - spooky!

Hope your foot is on the mend now.

So sorry your trip was marred by your painful feet Jill. We were novice wheelchair users in June - me as a pusher and my sister as the Princess - and we got the hang of it fairly quickly. Appreciate you were there at a much busier time but perhaps that is the way to go in future so you can do as much as possible? Sounds too like with a letter from your GP you might qualify for a disabled pass which would mean you have to queue less. :confused3

Thanks so much for sharing. :goodvibes

That's a shame. Hope you're feeling better

I'm still here it was lovely to meet you thanks for putting us in your highs Jill :goodvibes.
I totally agree it was mad wasn't it the crowds where awful if it was our first time I would of hated it the weekend was fine though we did more then.
Going to do a highs and lows with pics soon just been mad busy and trying it get our next trip sorted 3 mths and where back.

Hope the foot better now Jill I know you said it was bad but I didn't know how bad pixiedust: for the next trip xxx

Hope your foot heals soon Jill, shame it ruined your trip but good excuse to go back now you gave APs

Sorry to hear you had such a bad trip and I hope your foot gets better.

We are sticking with the off seasons in future from now on, DW just does not like crowds anymore.

Hope your next trip is not so problematic.

 I suffer with the same condition so you have my full sympathy.

And how brave to do TOT on your own! :goodvibes
