Welcome to my Trip Report, first I’ll introduce my Cast… Myself, SMW1, long time Disney/EPCOT fan, Husband, SMW2 (AKA Capt. Oblivious). My little princess who is at that magical age of 6.5, SMW3, and my 3 year old son, Capt. Oblivious#2, SMW4.
SMW1-4 ( We all have the same initials, hence, the moniker) Traveled to Disney World and stayed at the Caribbean Beach resort, March 20-27. Lets start with Day 1… arrival day. After a rather uneventful flight, except for a very rude woman yelling at my son for kicking her seat as we landed… ( Oh Im sorry, are we bothering you the last 9 minutes of the flight? Let me sit on my child whose ears are killing him so that you have a perfect descent, you retched woman..) We Magical Expressed ourselves to CBR. My Daughter SMW3 caught a terrible head cold the night before and was snorfing and sneezing her brains out most of the next two days, but she was a trooper… and a little drugged up on cold medicine!
When we arrived at CBR we were told we were not in a standard room after all, we were being upgraded, for no apparent reason, to a Nemo room, facing the water, right next to the pool area. ( well, a 5 minute walk, which is fine by me!) I looked at him a little funny wondering why we were being upgraded for absolutely no reason, and chalked it up to “Magical moment #1”. As any traveler to Disney can tell you, lots of these Magical Moments happen, you just need to go with the flow and they happen naturally. You can NOT plan magical moments, right all you veterans?! The people who work at the desks in CBR are, in my opinion, some of the nicest people at Disney. They have extremely high standards for professionalism, you will not find them this high anywhere outside Disney’s Kingdom, seriously.
We arrived at our room, room 3249, In North Trin. and it was SPOTLESS. It looked newly detailed, beautifully tiled, and scrubbed completely sterile.
No flaws. Absolutely perfect, smelling fresh, crisp new linens and incredibly soft, pillow topped mattresses. The furniture was pretty, looking almost brand new and a pretty shade of weathered green. Our view was ridiculous! So gorgeous, and the room was sunny, and bright and just PERFECT! Such a nice start to the vacation.
our view upon arrival.
I will state ahead of time that 98% of the non-magical moments of our vacation were because we made some poor choices regarding how much “Disney” our three year old with some neurological issues could handle.
It is a learning situation, and we learned that he can not handle crowds very well. He can not handle waiting very well. He can’t handle the go go go method of park touring very well. Two major points of our Disney adventure we grossly under-estimated. This under-estimation rendered my 3 year old a tantruming, screaming, flapping, bouncing Rainman-like disaster for the good part of three days. That’s not to say we didn’t just suck it up and carry him along for the sake of my 6 year old… as soon as he was on the rides and attractions, he was the happiest and best behaved kid there… each and every time. So are the mysteries of having a child on the spectrum!
Day 2 we woke up and headed to MK to meet my aunt, uncle and my uncle’s son, D. D learned about 4 hours in NEVER to let a cast member think you are bored at Disney. We were waiting in line for a meet n greet with Woody and Jesse near Splash Mountain, and the handler asked D if he was bored. He nodded. Woody STEPS out of the line, attacking D, while everyone waited. He pulled out D’s park map, asked for a pen and circled the fun things. ROFL!! We were laughing so hard we couldn’t stand up! D was mortified… He’s 16. Can you imagine? The Cast Member kept going to the crowd, “This young man is BORED at Disney World! What’ we gonna do about THIS? WOODY! TELL EM! You can’t be bored at Disney world!” and then Jesse came over and got silly with him too. Chalk it up to Magic Moment #2!
We hit our Bibbiti Bobbiti Boutique rezzy
later in the morning, and we got Susan as our Fairy Godmother. Susan is simply… the best. She has a long, white braid and is an older woman with a magical face. If you go, make sure you request her. Wait if you have to. She made my daughter feel like a Princess 10 times over. She told her all this princess folklore about the castle, and the godmothers, and did my daughter’s hair and nails exactly like she wanted it. It was simply the most magical experience of her entire life. We will be doing BBB every time we go back, it is a MUST DO. We bought the Belle Dress on clearance at a costume store on line, and paid about ¼ of what the Disney Parks dresses cost, and it was 10 times more fabulous! I have lots of money saving tips like that I will share through out the report.
Magical Moment #3
was definitely as we left the Pirates of the Caribbean ride ( we only did it once, which is a regret… ) and two cast members decided it would be fun to sword fight with my kids for 10 minutes straight! They were in heaven, and loved this store most of all… but we had to rush because of our dinner reservations. Next time we will allow MUCH more time for Pirate adventures!
We ate at Crystal Palace that night, and the food was some of the best I had at a Disney Buffet the entire trip. I ate my body weight in sautee’d vegetables, rich penne vegetables with a spicy cream sauce, this amazing corn bread fluffy stuffing type thing, and to die for adobo pulled pork. Probably my second favorite eating experience the entire trip. And a picture of my husband and Tigger made the night!
That night we saw Spectro Magic for our very first time and I have never seen anything like it. The best place to view it in my opinion is over by the popcorn vendor across from the lake right at the corner by the Hall of Presidents. We had major interaction there with the characters. I’ve never seen such a magical parade in all my life. It is definitely a DO NOT MISS event. I have no pictures because I took 20 minutes of High Def Video of it, it was THAT amazing.
We stayed at MK WAY too late and got back to the Resort at 11. We had to be up the next morning for a 8:30 Akershus reservation and this poor choice to stay too late really set my son off by the next night…but we will get to that another time!
Next up…. Day 2…EPCOT!
Ps... can anyone see the pictures, because all I see are red X's.... any clues as to how to fix that? thanks!
