Hi,
The trip was wonderful.
The GF at Christmas was beautiful!! We arrived at the GF and there was no wait at all for valet parking and no wait for bell services. The concierge staff was contacted and met us and walked us up to the concierge desks on the third floor. We checked in there and got all of our itinerary information. We had made PS requests through the advance planners and everything was correct. Our room was not ready when we checked in at noon, so we went to lunch at the GF cafe and when we returned from lunch before 1:30pm, the room was ready.

We had room 4309 on the third floor. It was beautiful with a view of the marina and castle. Everything was fine in the room. We tipped housekeeping and turndown service and they left us thank you notes, towel animals and arranged my daughters' stuffed animals around the room. Turndown service also left us 2 pairs of slippers one night. The TV was small, and it had a built-in VCR. We also had requested a photo of Cinderella for my daughter and that was there. We also had arranged for the 3 foot Christmas tree from the Disney florist to be in the room and it was. The tree was beautiful and they leave you the box in the room so you can take it with you or ship it home. We took it with us. Mejay, a concierge staff member, bubble wrapped and packed our tree. She was amazing. I never would have asked them for that, but they asked us at check-in if we were shipping the tree or bringing it with us (We drove down from NY). When we told them that we would be bringing the tree home, they told us they would pack it up for us the day before our departure.

The hotel was decorated beautifully and the music of the the orchestra and piano player were great. They also had different holiday music acts at night. One night, a choir and another night, bell ringers. We really enjoyed it.

We ate at many different restaurants, but at the GF we ate at the GF cafe for lunch twice and it was good and we also had dinner at Narcoossees. That was great! The food in the lounge was plentiful at breakfast, not too much from 11:30-2:30pm (breadsticks, a few dips and cookies) the tea service at 3:00pm was good, with warm scones, pudding, jams and tarts. The 5:00pm service was good, usually 2 different dishes and at the kids buffet were corn dogs one night and chicken nuggets another. The evening service had cordials and pastries with cupcakes and brownies on the kids buffet.

The weather the first day had a high of 55 degrees and as the week went on, the weather got much warmer and we were able to swim one day in the new pool. The lines at the parks were non-existent. We walked on everything and there were tons and tons of characters around.

The concierge staff was great. We would see them all the time, as our room was on the 3rd floor, the same as where they are located. They greeted us each time they saw us. The advance planners I dealt with, Jeremy and Karen, were very helpful on the phone and there were able to secure PS at Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast on very short notice.

Any questions, please ask!
Chris

I agree about the concierge staff. They were great and got us Cinderella Castle breakfast reservations on short notice too! Only problem was they had 8:05 on our itinerary and the reservation was for 9:45, but the restaurant seated us when we showed at 8:00 so that worked out fine! Don't know what the deal was when we checked in except we arrived on the 20th so it was much closer to the holidays and much more crowded but we had to wait a while for help.

I also thought the food offerings were great except the mid-day time frame. I loved the hotel and my husband and I plan to return alone for our anniversary.
Glad you had a good time, we were there at the same time!

Fantastic report! :) It's about time someone had something nice to say about the GF RPC. :)

4merlurkerchris, I am happy to hear that you had a lovely vacation at the Grand (it has been awhile since I read a nice trip report regarding RPC). The GF is a gorgeous resort, especially at the holidays. Did you post any photos from your trip?

Hi - thanx for the trip report.. how nice to have a little tree in your room!

Did you stay at the hotel the whole time or did you get out to the parks?

Thanx

Hi Janet,
So far, no pictures up yet. I will try to figure it out! We did not know what to expect from GF RPC, but it turned out to be a wonderful vacation!

>>^..^<< the tree from the WDW florist was beautiful! The parks were not crowded at all!

Chris

Thanks for such a nice report. My family was just talking yesterday about where we wanted to stay on our next WDW trip. We did Poly concierge last time and were thinking of GF for next time. Thanks for giving us something to think about!! Glad you had a magical time and thanks again for sharing the magic!!!

So glad to hear you had a great trip. We met Mejay during our 2000 stay and were pleasantly surprised when she was our concierge greeter this past summer. She is wonderful.

Has the Cafe re-opened for dinner hours yet? That is one of my favorite eating spots and we always ask for Izzy when we're there. I was disappointed that they had cut back the hours and was hoping that management would re-think that decision.

You painted a beautiful description of the GF at Christmas time. We're in the early stages of planning an anniversary trip there for next year and even though we celebrate our anniversary in September, I'm hoping for a December trip to see the resort all decorated.

Welcome home.

Hi Tammi,

Izzy was there at the GF cafe! It still has not re-opened for dinner. We used to enjoy dinner there also.
