Our Flights Were Cancelled!!

I had a bad feeling so I checked Delta.com; when I didn't see our flights listed, I emailed "customer care." Sure enough, our flights have been "affected." We paid only $240 for two tickets, direct flights each way. Their options now are at least $200 per person, no direct flights. How frustrating!!! How are we supposed to travel and get back to "normal" when it's so difficult?!?!?! All I want to do is go to WDW!!! Sigh .... :(

I know that I can't say anything constructive to help, but keep your chin up and here's some {{{{{{Pixie Dust}}}}} to help smooth things out for you.

Good Luck!

Are they charging you more? Our flight from detroit to Orlando with a stop in Atlanta was changed, so now we go through Cincinnati an hour later, but no extra charge. I know direct flights have been hit the hardest. I think if I was charged more for being "affected" I'd be talking to someone high up!

I can definitely sympathize with you...I will keep you in my prayers that your arrangements come together and you have a safe trip!!! We had one cancelled flight for our upcoming cruise, but thankfully we had already been put on another flight (no change in price). Hopefully things will work out as well for you. Since Delta cancelled your original flights, they shouldn't sock you with big extra charges...not good customer service.

They can't charge you more then THEY change your flight. Delta cancelled our flights. I found it on the website before they changed the flights. I called immediately and got a full refund. Don't email in the future. Call immediately. They were really nice and willing to work with me. I'd call back and speak to someone else.

Leave the cancelled ressie there untouched, in a few days one of the agents who hasn't been laid off will come around and reschedule it and it won't cost you any more.

Once you ask for a refund and get it, you have to rebook with the same or different airline at current ticket prices.

If you find an alternate flight you like including a different date, then call them and ask to be rebooked onto it, they might do it for you. However they ought to give you at no extra charge the choice of "before" or "after" the originally booked flights.

I can't guarantee this but I really think they should allow you free repeated reticketing changes getting closer to your second choice flight including changing from connecting flights to a nonstop as other people cancel between now and your trip. "Sorta like" wait listing.

and I have a very bad feeling about this. They have us rebooked -- but no seat assignment. When I pull up the seating chart on the new flight -- there are only 4 seats showing as available (The 1st 9 rows aren't visible??). Two of those seats are in an exit row, which my kids can't sit in.

I have a very bad feeling that they have waaaay overbooked this new flight and we are going to get bumped. It's very frustrating. I want to go on this vacation, but it is really starting to feel like "the signs are not favorable"
:(

Our flight to Florida for March 2002 has been cancelled. When I called the airlines about it, they said I could move to any flight before or after it. Well before meant another day off work and another day off school. The first flight the next day had no room on it. So we end up getting there 6:30 PM on a Saturday instead of 10:30 PM on Friday.

I also could not get seat assignments, it was explained to me that 1/3 of the seats are not assigned until that day at the gate. There were several reasons given such as weight distribution, accomidating disabled folks, exit rows, etc.

I complained that I was very uncomfortable with this change and thought they should do something for me. Well I was able to wrangle $50 vouchers X 4 passangers = $200.00 for future travel.
