I'm sure you have heard a hundred tips to get things moving!! My first daughter was over a week late, I went to park and rode the swing for as long as I could stand it, my water broke 12 hours later. ;)Who knows, Mackenzie was probably ready when she was ready but it gave me some hope in the moment as I had heard this had worked for so many others in the past!! Good luck, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

DUGETTE - Congratulations!!! :cool1: You are a dedicated DISer, my friend, to log on from the hospital!
I really only logged on to update my own PTR with the baby announcement, but I happened to notice that yours was updated and wanted to check if you'd had your baby too. Sorry that he hasn't come quite yet.

Since i've done no research, I don't know what that gel is, but i'll be asking my doctor about it on Wednesday. Hope you and baby are doing very well and will recover very soon! :goodvibes
You know, I thought I had done a reasonable amount of research and I had never heard of this gel either, until my midwife recommended it. It actually put her into labor with her own late baby also. However, she really downplayed that, as it apparently doesn't jump start labor for many people and could just lead to contractions that fizzle out and disappointment. However, she did also mention that it's good to do anyway before an induction, as it makes the cervix more favorable and the induction more likely to go well and you may not need the cervidil, I think (I was scheduled to go in Thursday evening to start the induction with cervidil overnight, then pitocin the next day...pretty standard). For me, it was an hour in the hospital where they inserted the gel, then monitored me. Then we went home. Contractions started late that night. Anyway, hopefully none of this will even matter and Calvin will decide to just show up on his due date! Good luck and thanks!

Thank you! I've been trying everything I've been reading on the internet (except for Castor Oil) - have read that can help things get going, but it makes other things really get going! :rotfl2:

After you posted, I started researching and from the forums i've been reading on, it sounds like the gel helps! We'll see what she does. Just got back from my appointment and going to update right now.

My appointment was this morning at 11:15 and sure enough, no progress. She doesn't have to reach as far back to feel my cervix though, which is great for me because this exam wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as the last two. She put me on a monitor for about 20 minutes to see if the baby is stressed and checking out his heart rate and everything sounds really great.

She wants to check me next Monday at 1:45 to see if anything has happened from now until then, but i'll more than likely be induced on Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00am. She really doesn't think i'll be going into labor naturally, especially since there has been no progress in 3-4 weeks. I told her that I had read that with being medically induced, a C-section is more likely and she said that it was, but that my pelvis was really good, so she really doesn't think it will get to that, which gave me some relief.

I will say this. I left the appointment feeling much more at peace than last time. Last week, I got home, cried, and pretty much hated myself. Right now, i'm in a pretty good mood and not really concerned about much.

So unless something happens before next week, we'll get to see Calvin on October 3rd!

It's nice to have an end in sight :) yay!! GL!! You'll do great! I was one that was induced and had a c-section but my pelvis is super narrow so....yeah. It really wasn't that bad.

Im glad you're feeling a little happier about it all!

They started me with the gel on a Saturday morning, but he didn't arrive until early Tuesday morning lol, thankfully no C-section though!

Maybe now I've got your head around the new date, he will make an early appearance!

I'm so happy for you! Reading this made me want to cry for joy for you, but maybe I'm just a little moody right now... :rotfl2: I can't wait to see pics of your lil man for the first time!

Hello there, I'm a bit late jumping in but couldn't resist following along with another December traveler. You'll be landing the day we fly back home - high-five at MCO as we pass each other :thumbsup2

I hope everything goes well and you have your wee one in your arms very soon - sending P&PD your way pixiedust: :goodvibes pixiedust: :goodvibes pixiedust:

Lesha I am still holding onto my prediction for Sat and the full moon:goodvibes

Nothing new to report. Just got done walking 4 more miles, cleaned all the floors, and getting ready to clean some more. I'm trying not to sit too much, still trying to bring labor on naturally. Talk to you guys soon!

Well, you may as well enjoy these last few days pre-baby because nothing will ever be the same! :goodvibes

I'm glad you are feeling better about the situation and I am still thinking happy thoughts for you! Whatever comes next, it will all be worth it! I am so excited for you

Had my appointment today and NO PROGRESS!!!:headache: I would for sure think that I would have dilated at least another 1/2 centimeter or something, but nothing!

So, i'm going to the hospital at 7am tomorrow.

My doctor will be rubbing Cytotec on my cervix to help dilate and ripen it more. Then 4 hours later, she'll be having me walk around the hospital to help move things along. Then she'll break my water and if needed, she'll give me pitocin. She's hoping the baby will be here no later than 7pm tomorrow night.

I asked about the Cervadil, but she thinks that Cytotec will be more gradual versus doing cervadil.

I'm definitely nervous about the whole thing now, because i've been reading about this drug, and it seems to be a very unfavorable drug to use during labor. I know everyone has different experiences with different drugs and I shouldn't be reading all these stories, but now i'm really nervous. Anyone know anything about this drug?

Ugh, wish I could just go into labor naturally..

She's hoping the baby will be here no later than 7pm tomorrow night.

You'll be holding your little bundle soon! So excited for you! He'll be here before you know it. I'd just enjoy these last few moments and go see a movie or out for one last dinner. I went into labour after a lovely french meal so I'd recommend that. No worries, it's going to be amazing!

Oh Lesha how awful to have to think about going tomorrow morning it would make anyone nervous. I know nothing about the drugs you asked about other than the Pitocin which is what thy gave me. I had passed the mucus plug about 6 am started having pains water broke about 10 am went to hospital and pains stopped. Thy had me walking around for a couple of hours then decided to induce because if the risk if infection at 3 pm and my son was born at 5:38pm I have to say the contractions came on hard and fast after the Pitocin but it was so much better than the 48 hours I was in labor with my first son.

Just think tomorrow you will be holding sweet baby Calvin in your arms :goodvibes

Aw, at least he will hopefully be here tomorrow!!!!

Good luck and I will be thinking about you!!!!

I'm sorry, I don't know about either drug. All I can say is trust your doctors, they do this a lot :) and like everyone is saying, try and enjoy these last hours of alone time. Everything is going to change tomorrow.
