Our first stay at Old Key West - not a trip report

Bought our first OKW contract in 1997, bought a resale in 2001. Love the resort. Love the layout. Love the room size. Love the laid back feel. Love pretty much everything about the resort. We haven't had too many "issues" there...a couple of minor housekeeping/maintenance that were quickly fixed. We have always had great CMs checking us in...we've had trainees too...a little slower, but, hey, everybody's gotta learn somewhere, right?

As far as view...well, view's not a huge thing to us in general, but I have never had what I would consider a bad view at OKW for all the times we have stayed there. We've had the golf course views, which are very nice. We've had a view of the waterway to DD, also very nice. We've had a wooded view, which I found to be quite restful and nice as well. To the best of my knowledge, there is no "dumpster" view at OKW...I think they are ll pretty much water, golf, or nature.

The room size is obviously fantastic. You will see, OP, when you go to a different DVC resort, the difference in room size. I love all the DVC resorts..they all have their special "charms" and attractions, whether it be theme, location or whatever, but none compares to OKW for room size (a to richyams up in ).

We have never regretted having OKW as our home resort. It has, for us, been a place of enjoyment, relaxation, and fond memories. I wish yu the same.

We love OKW.Even with the needed repairs it's felt like home to us since 1993.

We've been members since 1992 and have never regreted buying in.
Sure, there are sometimes things that need fixing, but when we've found any, we've reported them and had someone by within a short time to fix them.

Purchased a resale in 2000, and have never regretted our decision. Love the size, love the resort, love the "feel" of the place. We've got all different kinds of views - golf course, entrance, main road through trees. Funny thing is, we've liked them all ! It was fun to watch the golfers, interesting to see the people come and go through the main entrance, and even the view of the main road had it's advantage - to hear and see the Illuminations fireworks. I've seen more Illuminations from my OKW room than i've ever seen from my BWV or BCV rooms . Besides, we find the best view of Illuminations not to be BW, BC, or OKW - but Italy !

By the way, I noticed as I was typing this that the message box I was typing this in had "increase size, decrease size" buttons on the botton. When I hit the "decrease size" button, it changed the topic to Boardwalk . !

Our first contract was OKW and is still my favorite- Also have BCV and SSR and have stayed at each DVC on site except SSR. First trip was 1998 to BWV (studio) and OKW grand Villa. Only issues were a door hinge broken in the kitchen last Sept and even with the hurricane that week it was fixed within hours of our reporting it. Glad I have that 11 month window because it seems more and more people are loving OKW. Had to rent some of my points this year to cover maintenance fees and help pay for the trip to DL and the renter (from work) originally wanted BCV - since it wasn't available for the week he wanted he "settled" for 2 BR at OKW and it was lower points also. I can't wait for him to come back after his trip in July to see what he says. He's never stayed at any DVC before.
