December 24 - Christmas Eve!
Today was EPCOT day. They switched EE for MK today instead of EPCOT like we planned, but it worked out great for us. We got to sleep in a little since it wasn't supposed to open until 9, but when we got there at 8:45, it was already open! Sometimes Disney does that. We headed straight for Mission:Space. I was doing the fast mommy walk again (see part one) while informing Nicolas that he didn't have to ride if he didn't want to. I explained it that it was sort of like Star Tours except he would have his own TV screen. They have an example of the ride capsule outside in the cueing area, so I showed that to him and he decided to go for it! (yea!)
We walked right in with no wait. It was just us 3 with no engineer. Nicolas got to be the pilot, which he thought was pretty cool. He was very concerned and took his job of pushing his buttons very seriously. I asked him to hold my hand so I wouldn't be nervous
(I did it for his sake. . . yeah . . . um . . . I am a big girl . . . . )
We tilted back and saw the clouds and my heart was racing! I was telling Nicolas that we were getting ready to take off. And explaining what was happening, and the G Forces were just coming and coming and my husband was saying, Holy Cow! When is this going to let up??!?!?!? And then all of a sudden we were floating in space. Oh man. So So SOOOOO COOOOLLLLLL!!!! When the ride finished, I wanted to go on again! But I felt a little weak in the knees, so we thought we would come back later. That was a mistake. The lines never let up the rest of the day and the FP were still available but for VERY late that night, so we didn't get to go back.
Of course, we got the "Can I have something from the gift shop" line again, and we let him pick out the cheapest gift at WDW. We were so psyched when Nicolas brought us this little plastic pouch of 8 astronauts, a rocket, and an American flag for . . .drum roll please. . . . . TWO BUCKS! Yes! Ladies and Gentlemen! That is NOT a typo! TWO BUCKS! I was so pleased! I also bought Nicolas a shirt that says 2003 - Pioneer Crew (thought that would be cool to show off in a few years) and me a shirt that says "It's not rocket science. . . oh wait. . .it is!" I love that.
We rode JIYI (or the Figment ride as we affectionately call it). Love it! We end up singing that darn song the rest of the day. And then we rode Spaceship Earth. I hope they never change it. We had PS at our favorite restaurant, the Garden Grill for noon. It was yummy and we got a seat on the bottom which Nicolas loves so he can see the scenes from the Land ride. We rode Living with the Land after and we said goodbye to Food Rocks as this will be the last time to see it before it closes. (sniff sniff). We got a picture of Nicolas under the sign.
Oh, we also rode Universe of Energy. We call it "Ellen's Nightmare." Do any of you have different names for rides or is it just my family that does that?
After all of this, we hit Mexico for the great no wait ride and then got FP for the Norway ride. We visited the Africa outback pavilion which keeps growing everytime we go back. Eventually, it is going to be called a country just like the rest. (yes, I know Africa is a continent. . .) Anyway, we visited there cause Roy and Nicolas love to play the drums. They weren't there!
Oh man! That use to be so fun! The tent was there, but the drums weren't. I hope that is not permanent and that they bring them back. After walking around there for a bit, it was time for the Norway FP. We let Nicolas play on the Viking ship for few minutes and then it was time to go get in line for the Candlelight Processional. We had great seat dead center nad Robby Benson was the narrarator. He did a wonderful job. Oh just seeing his smile takes me back to my preteen days when I had a huge crush on him.
After CP, we tried to do M:S again, but couldn't becuase of the lines. (Oh I forgot to tell you that we did Test Track earlier.) And sort of walked around and caught the tree lighting by accident. It was fabulous. Be sure to see it if you go to EPCOT during the holiday season. We had a PS at Le Cellier for 7:50 which is late for us. The food was soooo goooood. But Nicolas was really tired and fell asleep before dessert! He didn't get to eat his Mousse! The waitress packaged dessert up for us to go, but we never really got to eat it, although I did taste my cake the next day. We had a 7:50 ps cause it was the only one we could get on Christmas Eve, even though we booked it like 3 months out.
Well, the good thing was Nicolas hit the sack as soon as he got back, so Santa could come very quickly and mom and dad could get in bed.
By the way, the weather.com and even the local news was calling for rain this morning and we got not even one drop! yea!
