Our First Disney Cruise!! Questions!!

Thanks for the awesome photos! I am showing them to my kids! It looks like so much fun!

I have a question about the parasailing, do they pick you up and drop you off on the boat or in the water? Thanks!

Here are some parasailers in Cabo San Lucas:

I did single at Castaway Cay. There were eight of us in the boat and only two people did tandem (a mom and daughter). We were out for a little over an hour.

I have to say, I would have paid the price just to ride around in the speed boat for an hour, I enjoyed that nearly as much as the parasail itself!

DH and I are considering doing it tandem. Are there pros/cons to that? Neither of us have parasailed before. I'm a little nervous about it (less so after reading posts here!) so I guess that is why we were considering it.

My dh and ds want to go parasailing will they let me and dd's go along on the boat just to watch ( we are chickens) or only those parasailing can go?:confused3

PrincessGal: I have no idea what cruise you are on but if you don't want a jam packed day at CC, you can do some of the other stuff in other ports. Grand Cayman has Stingray City. Cozumel has parasailing at several beaches. There are also cabana massages. We are on the western caribbean, but I bet if you look, you'll find parasailing and cabana massages at several of the islands. And in looking at the parasailing in Cozumel, its the same boat launch type. I mention this only because I have launched from the beach in the past.

The biggest con to tandum is that some people can't do it (with 2 adults) because of the weight limit max. DCL's is pretty high comparatively - 375 lbs. total. Other places have told me 300 lbs, sometimes less, depends on the wind. I recall one occasion when my dad couldn't do it single (wind not strong enough) and he was about 240 lbs.

We're trying to decide between Palo brunch and dinner. What's the main differences? Also I've heard the choclate souffle is not available at brunch...is that true?

Birkner and Ibouncetoo, did you parasail tandem or single?

I acutally took these pictures of a friend parasailing from my verandah on the Magic while we were in Cabo San Lucas on the Mexican Rivera cruise in 2005.

Don't think so. There's only so much room on the speed boat, which is 6-8 parasailers, the driver and the guy that reels you in and out.

Well your pictures are gorgeous!

If you can only do one, I'd chose brunch. It's easier to try a wide variety of foods at the brunch and they are all good. Also I really enjoyed the (cold) crab, shrimp and (warm) bacon wrapped scallops! True, no chocolate souffle at brunch BUT you can ask your head server (on the first night) to arrange to have a souffle brought down on a future night as your dessert. I'm also told (haven't tried it myself though) that you can go to the bar at Palo for drinks and dessert.

Brunch includes a buffet of cold and hot appetizers, bread, cheeses, salad offerings and desserts. Your server will show you the buffet items first and then you may also order hot food items individually.

At dinner, you are served at your table, as in a fine restaurant. You may order off the extensive menu, and your server will explain several daily specials as well.

In both cases, you do not share your table with others, as in the regular dining rooms.

I appreciate the info about the parasailing - I was going to ask about it as well - glad I found this thread.:)

I think I will probably try this (and maybe DD - she's a bit of a daredevil) but doubt that DH will try it as he has a fear of heights!

What age do kids need to be to try this?

TIA

Great thread. Good info. I am so sad though. I was not able to book the Palo Brunch as there was a mix-up at the travel agency w/my payment. Think there will be a chance that I can book once on board? We are sailing Disney Magic for the Western on May 5th. :guilty:

Even if there were no mixup, if it makes you feel better none of us booking at 3am EST this morning were able to get Palo Brunch and some on our cruise meet thread couldn't get it at the 90 day mark. We are all hoping to get it once onboard and I understand our chances are good since about half the ressies are held for onboard booking! Maybe we'll see you onboard! Take care!

Thanks KimberlyC! That does make me feel better actually!!! Everyone on this board is so helpful and friendly!!!I just never get sick of it!!

There is an excellent chance you will be able to book brunch once on board. Go as soon as possible after boarding, and if they are completely booked up, put your name on a waiting list. The online booking stops accepting reservations before they are actually 100% full, so as to allow those without Internet access to get a reservation on board.
