Our First Anniversary Trip! New Friends and Summer Nightastic Fireworks!!!

So many great updates!! OMG LOVE the hopscotch game!! I can't believe that!! And I LOOOVE how the numbers were drawn, amazing!! I actually ran into Alice and Mary Poppins in England in the store where they sell the jerseys, just standing around one trip! It was crazy!! I got to meet both of them, and Alice said to me "I quite like your hair" it was awesome!! The Mary you met was Gorgeous!! WOW!! Also yay for Grey Goose slushies! My fave!! OH!! And if you zoom in on that painting in France you took a picture of (by the river) it has a hidden Mickey in it! A side profile, Mike discovered it!

Beautiful pictures! Monchi chi monchi chi....my kids LOVED them ...the candy lady is there?! So many rumors on the Dis that she was no longer there or giving out the candy glad you got proof she is...something else I've never seen. Did you see the hidden Mickey in the Koi pond?

No, I didn't, where is it? (I'm glad I could dispute the rumors of Miyuki going missing... She was definitely there!)

Another great update! Can't wait to hear how you felt after you completed drinking your way around the world-how did you feel after drinking all those different drinks?

Lol! Actually, I felt ok, but you'll see about DH...

Can't wait for the answer to this one either I'm picturing Pluto riding them over to POP on his back ;)

That didn't happen, but it would have made an awesome story!!

I am going to have to try that Grand Marnier orange slushie it looks yummy on a hot day.

It was very yummy! I definitely like the lemon one better, but then I'm very much a lemon kinda girl... :)

I know, I love love LOVED the hopscotch!! That's so cool that you met them just chillin' in a store though... Mary Poppins was SO beautiful!! She was spot on! And I can't find that hidden Mickey either.. I'm just horrible at finding those. I think I have a hidden Mickey spotting deficiency...I'll need to have Mike give me pointers... ;)

I am all caught up!! I really need to change my subscription settings so that I get e-mail notifications - I keep missing things!

Anyway, great updates!! I agree that you can never have too many castle pictures, and yours look great!

The hopscotch is so great - I will also never draw another hopscotch unless it looks like that lol What a great character interaction experience that must have been!

It is great to see that you guys powered through and went drinking around the world - being rained out 3 times would not have been good! It is weird enough that it rained the last 2 times that you tried. Btw, the outfit you were wearing in those EPCOT pictures looks really nice on you!

I am loving this report!

After watching Miyuki for a while, we decided to move on to the American Pavilion. Now, by this point DH and I were getting very tired of beer. It's sooo filling! But of course, we had to get beer at the American Pavilion. I had been hoping for some Jack Daniels for a Jack and Coke, but alas, it was not to be. So, here we are with our Sam Adams. :)

DH took off for a bit here (I can't remember where he went. Bathroom again, maybe?) And while I was waiting for him I had a delightful conversation with an elderly CM. He was so sweet! He asked about my Anniversary button, and he was so excited when I told him it was our first. Such a nice old man! He chatted with me for quite a bit, since he saw I was waiting for DH.:goodvibes I've said this before, but I love those little interactions, and of course DH missed it!

So, on we went to Italy, where we discovered the delights of... an Italian Margarita. All I can say is; wow. It was SO unbelievably delicious!! It was limoncello, grappa and margarita mix, all swirled together with crushed ice in a delectable, frothy concoction that was heaven on my tongue. Yes. It was THAT good.

FirstAnniversary102.jpg

Some obligatory Italy pictures...

FirstAnniversary097.jpg

Now, I am lucky enough to have been to the Piazza de San Marco in Venice, and yes, it does look like that! (Well, it's bigger, and there's a ton of people, and it's loud, and there's a million freakin' pigeons flying around pooping on everything and everybody, but other than those minor details, the resemblance is definitely there!)

Oh, and here's the cute li'l gypsy cart. :)

FirstAnniversary104.jpg

Does anybody else get the gypsy song from Babes in Toyland stuck in their heads when they see something like this? Is it just me?

Anyway, after downing our incredibly delicious Italian Margarita, we went into Germany. At this point DH and I were pretty much done with beer, and alcohol in general. DH more so than I, but neither one of us could look a beer in the face at that point, and we knew that that was all we would find in Germany. So, we decided that our attempt to drink around the world would end in failure, but we shook our fists and vowed that we would be back again!! and next time we would take all day to do it instead of trying to cram that many drinks into a short evening. Poor planning, I know. :confused3 But, we decided we would keep touring around while waiting for Illuminations, so here's some Germany pics.

FirstAnniversary106.jpg

FirstAnniversary107.jpg

In Germany we found Snow White and I have to say, she was ridiculously beautiful too!

FirstAnniversary109.jpg

We made it through Africa and China, where I took no pictures for some reason, and we decided to stake out a spot for Illuminations. DH started to not feel good at this point  so I left him sitting by the water while I went back to Germany to get him some food. It took me a while, but I made it back to our spot with a brat in hand for him and a pretzel for me, with a few minutes left to spare. DH had started to feel better before I even came back, but the food really helped and while I was holding our spot he said he would be right back. I was sitting and looking out at the water, when I felt something being put on my head. DH had gotten me a pair of light-up Mickey ears!! :cool1: It was so sweet! :lovestruc It's a dark picture, but here they are!

FirstAnniversary111.jpg

Illuminations started pretty quickly after that, and I watched, enchanted as always. Fireworks just really get to me, I don't know why.

After all of that gorgeousness, we walked to the buses, hand in hand, and savored just being together in WDW....

Aw, thanks so much! :goodvibes I still can't get over that hopscotch, it's one of my favorite things about the trip! I couldn't believe that it started to rain again either, but I'm so glad it stopped!

I totally agree conversations with CMs make the trip even better

Great update!!!! Mike and I have that Italian Margarita on our list of must-drinks for November! You guys hung in there really well with the drinking around the World attempt...Seriously!! If Mike and I ever attempted that, we would be sharing a drink in most countries. I know, I know, it doesn't fully count, but hey it's a shot!! Sooo cool that you met Snow White!!! I love WS because you can get the greatest character interaction just by surprise! Can't wait to read more :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Day 3 (June 6, 2010)

It was our first anniversary!!! :) We were both SO excited about this day, not only because it was our anniversary, but because we were going to our favorite parks! (DH's is Hollywood Studios, and mine is MK). The thing that DH was MOST excited about (and I was pretty happy about it too!) was Star Wars Weekends!!! We're both big nerds, and it was a perfect melding of Disney and Nerd-dom!!

We got there bright and early, and we didn't wait in the autograph line, because DH said that he was fine without them, so we just decided to enjoy the day. The Star Wars stuff before rope drop was very cool. DH took the pics because I was holding our place in the turnstile line. He was so happy! It's great to see him get excited, and of course I encourage him to get as little-kid-like as possible!

FirstAnniversary136.jpg

FirstAnniversary139.jpg

For those of you who want to know how the Storm Troopers get up on the roof, there's a lift hidden in this box!

FirstAnniversary129.jpg

And we're in!

FirstAnniversary142.jpg

Of course, we headed towards the rope on the right, so we could swoop on over to Toy Story Mania with the rest of the herd. We did really well in this, because I was right behind the rope! However, I didn't know that the CMs have now started to form a human barrier that walks VEEERRYYY slowly in front of the stampede so that there isn't well, a stampede. We finally got to TSM, and used our tactic of last year where I got in line, and DH hit up the FP machines. Then, we got in line and went through Andy's room, and off to play the best carnival games ever!!

Me with my oh-so-cool 3D shades... :3dglasses

FirstAnniversary144.jpg

After popping balloons and throwing pies, we went to check out the Star Wars merchandise, and pick up our AP exclusive pin. DH got that one (Han Solo frozen in carbonite), and I got one of R2-MK, who is SO cool!! :)

We walked through the little movie prop museum which was the line for the store, and there was such cool stuff in there!

Darth Maul, of course

FirstAnniversary145.jpg

Telmarine armor from Prince Caspian

FirstAnniversary149.jpg

The White Witch's chariot and costume from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

FirstAnniversary152.jpg

And, my favorites! Costumes from Enchanted!!! SOO beautiful!

FirstAnniversary157.jpg

FirstAnniversary159.jpg

Oh, and a very cool shot of the organ from POTC (the movies) :)

FirstAnniversary163.jpg

After spending some money, we went out to find our very first Star Wars character!!! I'll leave you in suspense... Mwa-ha-ha!! (that was my attempt at an evil laugh.)

You guys did awesome making rope drop at DHS too! I didn't know that the CM form a human chain like that, I have never been lucky enough to be there that early! Great shots of the costumes, I LOVE the last Wicked Queen costume, Susan Sarandon got to wear some awesome costumes!!:goodvibes

Aw thanks! :goodvibes Y'know, I was a little scared about SWW, but the crowds actually were not horrible. Maybe because we were there early and only for part of the day, but it was really cool!

DH was like, "Let's go hun..." but I couldn't walk away! And speaking of fireworks pics, I can't wait til you guys see the Summer Nightastic pics I got!! (Just a li'l teaser...) ;)

Thanks Legs!!! The weekend was awesome, it was great to see old friends. :goodvibes Miss you tons!

We walked around the corner from the big souvenir store and saw a line to see... Darth Vader!! The man himself! Of course we had to get in line, and the line was actually right next to another little souvenir shop. (Of course.) While we were in line, I ducked out quickly and ran into the souvenir shop where I bought a Jedi Mickey blue lightsaber for DH. He loved it!! It makes sounds and lights up and everything. We thought at first that it didn't make the noises when you swung it around, but DH figured it out, and proceeded to play with it the rest of the day. :goodvibes I love it when his inner kid comes out! (I always knew he had an inner kid, his is just buried much more deeply than mine. Not that that's difficult, since mine isn't buried at all!)

Darth was really fun to watch, because he was SO in character. He would loom over the children as they were walking back to their parents, and it made some of them run! One kid handed him an autograph book and a pen, and when Darth realized the pen tip wasn't out, he stuck the pen in the kid's face and very deliberately clicked it open. :rotfl: He cracked me up! It was finally our turn, and I waved hello to him as we walked up and the Photopass photographer said, "Yeah, good luck getting him to wave!" I laughed. Of course, DH had to pose with his lightsaber at the ready!

Photopass006.jpg

Photopass011.jpg

We wandered towards the front of the park, and DH saw a Green Army Man by TSM, so I snapped a couple pics.

FirstAnniversary170.jpg

FirstAnniversary169.jpg

I remember that on our honeymoon, it took him a few days to warm up to having his picture taken with characters, and now he was actively seeking them out! It was so great... seeing someone who had been so anti-Disney (I know, crazy, right?!!) when we first met, compared to seeing him in the parks now is Disney Magic at its finest!

We also stopped by One Man's Dream. This part makes me very emotional. I grew up watching Walt Disney Presents, and I remember that one of the saddest days of my childhood was learning that Walt had died before I was even born. It was devastating. I mean, I know that chances of actually meeting anyone famous like that are slim, but as a kid I yearned for it so badly... So, I had to get a picture taken with the giant picture of Walt and Mickey inside One Man's Dream, because it's the only picture I'll ever get with him. I actually teared up a bit standing there.

FirstAnniversary171.jpg

That wasn't the only time I cried either. I cried seeing his childhood desk. (Even DH said "that's so cool," and he doesn't share the depths of my Walt Disney worship.) I have no idea why I didn't take a picture of that. I guess I was just so in awe of it that I didn't think to photograph it. I cried seeing his office, too. Seeing a place that he touched with his presence almost every day just made me feel so... connected to him, I guess is the only way I can describe it.

FirstAnniversary173.jpg

FirstAnniversary174.jpg

I LOVED the Disneyland and WDW models.

FirstAnniversary175.jpg

FirstAnniversary180.jpg

And I almost screamed when I saw this:

FirstAnniversary176.jpg

When I was a kid I LOVED Zorro. I was obsessed. I think it came on every weekday, and I never missed it. I had the HUGEST crush on Zorro (Guy Williams) so when I saw this costume, I felt like a crazy little kid all over again. I think I scared my DH, because I never really told him about my Zorro insanity (which I though I had outgrown... Apparently not) :confused3 and here I was going cuckoo-nuts over a costume from some 60 year old show. He actually had to lead me away by the hand.

When DH finally dragged me out of One Man's Dream, we went towards the 50's Prime Time Cafe, which is where we had our lunch ADR. On our way there we saw Jedi Mickey!!! He was the one character that I wanted my pic taken with more than any other. Unfortunately, the line to see him was terribly long, and we had to make our ADR, so DH said we would try again after lunch.
