Our fabulous Disney Dining! Lots of photos -Day 8, Pop Century Food Court- Completed!

LOL love the "love actually" reference! Love that movie. thanks for the reviews :cool1:

Great to hear your reviews! We're doing Raglan Road for the first time an couple weeks and I've never really seen any pics of the food! Everything looks so good....and a SLICE of Creme Brulee? Was it as large as it looks? YUM... :goodvibes

Great reviews and photos too! More please!

Thanks for sharing with us - it's been great fun so far reading your reviews. I love the pics of Raglan Road especially - we're leaving for WDW next Wednesday and have reservations at Raglan next Friday night. It looks like it will be a yummy evening, indeed!

Thanks you for the great reviews, the pictures were totally worth annoying Conan! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yay! A big thankyou to everybody for reading and making nice comments! And I'm very jealous for all those people who are going to Disney soon! :cheer2:

mickeymousemom - The creme brulee at Raglan Road was pretty big, yes! Just like a slice of cake! But it was so nice and light, I ate it all! :thumbsup2

Okay, on with the show!

Our next day was our first full day at Magic Kingdom, and we had a lunch ADR at...

The Plaza!

We paid with cash there, because comparitively to other places we ate, it was actually quite reasonable! We know we could have just used up a counter service meal somewhere else in MK instead, but I'd read lots of nice things about The Plaza on the boards, I just couldn't bring myself to cancel our ADR!

The Plaza really is very pretty. It's a bit like stepping back in time. Except for the really strong air-conditioning, of course. It's a small little place, with lots of mirrors on the walls. Luckily I wasn't facing a mirror - is there anything more disconcerting when you're eating?!

Anyway, we jumped straight into the main course, since there didn't seem to be many appetizers on offer, except soup or salad. Our waitress was a really, really tall lady called Dot. Hehhee. That still makes me giggle.

So I ordered the Chicken & Strawberry Salad, with extra dressing on the side...

It was very yummy! Nice and fresh. I liked the crunchy garlic croutons the best!

Conan had the Hamburger, with added bacon and cheddar cheese...

And no, he hadn't taken a bite of out it before I took the photo. Either Dot got a bit hungry before she delivered our meals, or it was just a wacky kaiser roll! Anyway, he enjoyed his burger and crinkly fries, and ate it all! It was the first time either of us had actually finished a meal at Disney - yahoooo!

I really, really wanted to try one of their famous sundaes, but unfortunately we were really, really full. And the air-conditioning was making us really, really sleepy. So, we called it a day at The Plaza.

We gave The Plaza :) :) :) out of of 5.

The food was yummy and fresh, but not overly different or exciting. The setting was very pretty and relaxing, too - nice for a break in the middle of a busy Magic Kingdom day. But the air-conditioning!? Wow, did I mention the air-conditioning?! I'm a bit sad that we didn't try one of their desserts, but instead we had...

A pineapple float! Yum! I'd heard so much about dole whips and floats on the DIS boards, I just had to try one! And it really was very delicious!! And so refreshing, after a big lunch!

Next up... Boma for dinner!

HURRY! HURRY! Do Boma!!!!!!!!!!!!

So after a nice, relaxing lunch at The Plaza, that night we had an ADR at...

Boma!

I was really excited about this dinner - it was one of the first places we knew we wanted to try at Disney. Plus, I couldn't wait to check out Animal Kingdom Lodge! If we weren't already spending lots and lots of money traveling around the USA for 7 weeks, we would have loved to stay there instead of Pop. :yay:

So we arrived at AKL about an hour early, just to have a little look around before dinner. Wow, it really is pretty! And dark! Compared to the bright, bright colours at Pop, anyway! Hehee. We decided to go giraffe spotting. Half an hour later, we saw one. I don't know how anybody finds their way around those hallways of AKL!! Auh!

Anyway, eventually it was time for our dinner at Boma! Yay!

Our waitress was nice, if not a little invisible. We hardly saw her at all, actually. But never mind! Luckily it was a buffet!

To drink, Conan had a mango smoothie, and I had some sort of fruit punch, with orange, apple, and pineapple juice, which was delicious! We were pretty impressed that they came with the dining package, too.

So here's my plate...

IMG_0517.gif

Clockwise from top on my plate, there is -

* Potatoes with Afritude - YUM!! I went back for more of these!
* Chicken Tender - What can I say, I love crunchy chicken. Hehee.
* Pasta salad - Nice, but just a pasta salad, really!
* Sun-dried tomato dip with crispy flat bread - WOW! The best dip ever! I could have just had a whole plate of this, except people might have looked at me funny.
* Rubbed spice chicken - Good! I can't really remember it, actually.
* Peanut rice - (in the middle of the plate) was SO delicious! I also could have had a whole plate of this peanut rice! Great creamy texture, and amazing taste!

Here's Conan's plate...

IMG_0515.gif

Clockwise from top, on his plate -

* Corn on the cob
* Peanut rice
* Chicken tender
* Ghana salad
* Potatoes with Afritude
* Prime Rib

He enjoyed everything on his plate too, and went back for more peanut rice and ghana salad!

For dessert, our plates were basically the same...

IMG_0519.gif

Clockwise from top -

* Strawberry tart
* Chocolate chip cookies
* Zebra domes
* Passionfruit meringue tart

Which was all very yummy, but I think we were a bit too full from our big meals to enjoy them! I was so excited to taste a zebra dome from hearing about them on the DIS boards, but... I didn't really love it! It was nice, but not sensational, as I was expecting! :blush:

Anyway, so we loved our dinner at Boma! Everything was very fresh and had great flavour, which was awesome for a buffet. There was so much to choose from! I didn't find anything overly spicy or "different" tasting, like lots of people at DIS seem to say. I think anybody could definitely find some yummy food here and enjoy their meal!

Our score... :) :) :) :) out of 5.

Next up... 'Ohana!

thanks for the reviews! Are the potatoes with afritude spicy or just flavorful?? Looking forward to more :)

Hi i<3Disney! :wave:

They're a tiny bit spicy - but also very flavorful!!

I love spicy food though, so if you don't, you might find them much more spicy than I did...

I love spicy food! But most of the people I travel with aren't (weenies!) :rotfl: thanks for much for the reply!

That's the beauty of a buffet! They can try a couple of pieces, and if it's too spicy for them, they can have a drink of water, and not eat any more! Yahoo!!

I'll give them a spice rating. If bread was 0 (not spicy at all) and a hot green curry was 5 (ultra-hot), I'd give the potatoes with afritude a 1. Or maybe a 2. They were just sprinkled with a nice seasoning, really!

YUMMMM! You just got me so excited for my trip...29 days!! :cool1: . We have ADR's at both Raglan Road and Boma. We ate at Boma our last trip so we knew we loved it but we were a little apprehensive about Raglan Road but after your review I'm psyched!

We're eating at Boma in Dec. for the first time. After reading your review I can't wait. Everything looked so yummy!

Thanks so much for your Boma review! We're eating there next month after reading rave reviews here. Your pictures were wonderful! I can't wait to try those potatos, yum! :woohoo:

Wow, what a great review thread! Great descriptions and photos!

I hope you don't mind, but I snagged your pic of the buger at the Plaza for my computer's backrgound on the desktop - I'm looking forward to that almost as much as Splash Mountain, LOL.

Thanks for the great info!
