This is the note my wife just sent to Disney about our disappointment with no discounts for Disney's most loyal customers. Let's flood them with mail!
_____________________________________

Good Morning!

We are HUGE Disney fans and decided last fall to purchase annual passes for our family so that we could enjoy a Walt Disney World vacation several times this year. We have visited twice and stayed on property (at deluxe resorts) with annual passholder discounts and have spent an enormous sum of money on food, souvenirs, and entertainment. We have enjoyed our stays and we love being on site. It costs us quite alot to travel to Florida from Texas, but we watch for air travel discounts and even drove the 1000 miles this summer with 2 small children!

We have planned a trip for mid-September to finish up our Disney year. Unfortunately, we will be staying off-site this time (the first time in 20 years for me). We would love to stay at the Boardwalk Inn or the Wilderness Lodge, but due to Disney's current focus on package only deals, it is not cost effective for us. We plan to take advantage of a room discount offered at the Radisson Resort Parkway. It breaks our hearts (all four of them) to stay off-site, but we cannot justify paying Disney rack rate or for UPHs that we do not need.

I just wanted to let you know how disappointed we are that there are discounts for everyone except loyal Disney fans. If we were staying at a Disney resort we would eat EVERY meal and spend EVERY dollar on Disney property. While staying off site we will have a rental car and will probably be eating off site as well. I just can't understand the marketing logic behind that sends folks away. We will not be renewing our annual passes. And we will not be visiting WDW next year. The only reason we are still coming in September is because we have already purchased airline tickets.

Sincerely,
Lisa Malstrom

I think you did a great job of speaking for a lot of us on here. I wrote Disney last Thursday and still haven't received a response. I was asking about why I haven't received my Mickey Monitor. I hope you get a response and when you do, please post what you received!!:)

Well writen jlm1006!
Believe me, if there are no discounts in December, I will be writing right along with you.

the e-mail bounced back! Says they are upgrading their system or something. I find it hard to believe that a company as large as Disney doesn't have a failover or redundant system in place for something as critical as e-mail. Maybe they just don't want to hear out complaints....

I emailed them a couple of weeks ago (before they disabled the guest services email ;)) but put it slightly differently. I told them that I was planning a September trip and was thinking about purchasing APs because I heard they are a great deal and in the past you could also get a great deal on hotels. I asked if these deals would be out for September so I can decide whether to stay in a Disney Resort or book another hotel.
I got a very generic email stating something to the effect that occasionally these deals are offered on their rooms but usually they aren't available until the end of the prior season.
I guess I won't believe they aren't going to be available until after 8/23.

jlm1006,

Your wife wrote a terrific letter! Don't let it get to you that their e-mail is inexcessible right now. Snail mail the letter instead. Here's their address:

Walt Disney World Communications
P. O. Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-0040

It would be a shame to let such a well written letter go to waste. Good luck!

I also e-mailed Disney a couple weeks ago when I cancelled the first half of our trip at POR to take advantage of the $99 Swan/Labor Day deal. I told them that regrettfully, I had to cancel or reservation due to finding a better deal at the Swan and asked if there were any discounts available Sept 7-13. Well, after sending them a nice, long letter describing our situation, I told my DH I'd probably get a "form letter" for a reply. That's exactly what I got. I thought maybe........a very slight possibility........that they might offer something better to keep our business especially since they mailed out all those e-mail rates (that I didn't get). I must have been dreaming...........

I just canceled my reservation from 12/19-12/28 the cm asked me why I was canceling I told her that since there was a lack of Pass holder ratesI could not pass up the offer from the swan/dolphin.
She suggested that i talk to Guest Service so I did they told me that the passholder rates were not a guarentee. to try a package. I do not save money that way.
I wrote Disney and told them my reason again. I received a form letter.
I guess they do not care about there loyal guests.
Oh well last trip to Disney for us I'm seriously thinking about spending my money elsewhere.

Even though you are getting "form letters" as replies, you can be sure that someone is categorizing them and counting them. If the angry AP holder letters outnumber the thrilled package buyer letters over some period of time, they may change their strategy.

But of course, what will count the most is raw economic data ... as someone else put it, how many heads are in beds. If the overall occupancy remains the same or gets better, they'll stick with their current tactic. They will also get figures on restaurant sales, hotel gift shop sales, etc., and that will all go into the mix.

I wrote a very similar letter to Disney yesterday, I used the following link at the WDW sight and selected Walt Disney World Resorts as the recipient.

Judging by the amount of views on this post and the other post about who doest have a Sept thru OCT discount , there are at least 400 AP holders on these boards requiring good room only Ap rates. If they all took time and wrote a small letter and posted that they sent one here maybe we could get some results,

Just a thought

Jack

Letters are much more effective with Disney than e-mails.
I would write Lee Cockerell's ofice if I really wanted a response or someone to take notice.
Good letter though. :)
