She flew down on 1/25. Is all settled in her apartment and likes her room mates. She had traditions today and starts training for her job on Saturday! Hoping to visit in March using her discount to stay at a regular resort since we already used our points for the year. Exciting!

Yes, so exciting! When DS was a summer intern at DL, I remember how excited I was. And what was neat was that when his roommates learned that "Matt's Mom" was a big Disney fan, they used to call me and tell me whenever any little thing happened, knowing I'd get excited. And I did! So what's your DD's job?

Best wishes to your DD in this endeavor and any she takes in the future. I would be over the moon excited if I was in your shoes!

My DD was a CP in the fall. She loved it so much we had a hard time getting her home! She toyed with staying down there and "switching to online classes". We convinced her to get her degree up here (where her scholarship is) and then she could work for Disney, or not. This way if it doesn't turn out the way she thinks she can get a job somewhere else and not be stuck waiting tables in Orlando.
In fact she is going back next weekend to visit her friends. She was in quick service at Pinocchio's. We saw the Disney episode of "Boy Meets World" the other day and when she saw Pinocchio's she went nuts!
I would love for her to go back and get a "real" Disney job when she finishes. We visited her in October and got to do Food and Wine for the first time. Have fun planning your visit with your daughter! And be ready for her to not want to come home!

Yeah, her room mates already know that about me too. They were asking all kinds of info about disney brfore they even got there! She met them online months before. My daughter's role is hostess at ESPN on the Boardwalk.

I have heard that a lot of kids want to stay longer or never leave. My DD has one year of school left and will definitely be back for that. I told her she could always apply for another CP or if lucky enough an internship. Will see how it all plays out. In the meantime, I am happy that I will have another trip to plan and look forward to!

My son just did his telephone interviews for the CP and the Professional Internships. He should find out something in March.

That is great! Has he done a cP before? I don't know if my daughter will try for an internship or not. It depends on what her job prospects are next spring after graduation. And if course what this Cp experience is like for her.

Thank you! And I have been. I was really shocked when she got accepted. I encouraged her to apply this semester in case she wasn't so that she would still have next year to try again. Her original idea had been to apply during her last semester of college and go down after graduation.

Congratulations to her!! My DD 22 is currently doing a marketing professional internship with them. She started in June and was asked to extend for a second semester!

It was great to have a reason to head down in November, not a typical vacation time for me!!

A friend of my daughter did the CP and got to be friends with several characters - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Grumpy, Marie, Piglet. She extended her CP stay as well.

She came home for just over year and when Disney had auditions in our area she went. She is now back in Orlando full time. Once again she is friends with many characters. She still spends time with Mickey and Minnie but most of her time is spent with Tink or Wendy.. and she is loving every second of it.

I hope your daughter has so much fun. I am a bit envious. oh to be young and have opportunities like that again.

Not yet. He thought he might do one last fall, but decided to finish up with school since he only had this one semester left (and it was only six hours at that). He's getting his degree in Plant Sciences/Horticulture and would love to work for Disney. He did an internship with a botanical garden last summer.

That sounds like a wonderful opportunity. I hope that she is enjoying her PI.

I agree about being envious. I am too, but I am so incredibly happy that she took the chance to apply and follow her dreams. I didn't want it to be something that she wished she had tried to do" now, she is one of the lucky ones who gets to live her dream!

The CM discount can be very attractive! In fact, our initial DVC purchase was made with the CM discount. :) The CP is a great experience, and people are impressed when they see it on a resume.

My son just got offered the College Program today. He still has another interview for Professional Internships next week.

Congrats! My daughter just started a new role thst she was offered and A raise too! I am sure that will help of she decides to try for a PI too.

Congrats. My daughter did both the regular college intern program and just finished up the professional intern program. She did appy to stay on after the professional as when she started back in June she was told they'd be hiring 6 out of 25 interns in her field. Turned out they hired none of them.

Sorry to hear that she not any of the interns were hired. Perhaps, she can apply for a job later? What area was she interning for? My daughter is a HRT major.

Can I ask what the discount is for the resorts?
Who can use it and how much is the discount? DD had her phone interview 3 weeks ago and should hear if she got accepted any minute now. ......DH and I already have a dvc reservation for Oct but if we can get a good discount at a moderate resort we may use the Oct points for our March trip instead.
