We have (had) three cats. I know that alone probably quallifies us as weird  , but anyhoo.... This particular cat we had for almost 12 years. Magoo was probably the sweetest of our three. She would crawl up on my lap at night after the kids went to bed while I read books, DISed, or watched TV. I still don't know how she got outside, but I found her yesterday morning dead in the yard with a broken neck and blood from puncture wounds around her neck. I sure am going to miss her.

Maybe the saddest part was having to tell our kids. I know it sounds crazy, but this is the first "close" death they would remember. Such a sad part of growing up, isn't it? Lots of tears.

That's terrible! :(

I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Magoo

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.

For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you

For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.

For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.

I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives. My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.

Today I am as I was in my youth.
The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.

I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth.

There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.

We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.

You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are so rare and unique.

Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

So sorry for your family's loss. Hugs to you all. :grouphug:

:grouphug: So sorry to hear that. I have 3 myself. It's never easy to loose them. They are as much part of the family as the people are. Time will heal.

So sorry to hear about Magoo, Zip. :( Always sad with our pets. I think sharing thoughts like Troy above or like the Rainbow Bridge can help a child, and us adults too, accept life as it is. My best to you, your family.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

:grouphug: I am so sorry you lost your Magoo. I have four and constantly worry that they will get out.

Poor kitty. :( And poor you! :grouphug:

All my cats were outside cats when I was growing up, and none of them made it 5 years before being killed by either a dog or car. Nothing was more horrifying than finding it there.

I keep my cats in, but I'm so scared one is going to get out somehow. Luckily they seem kind of afraid of the "great wide open" and don't try to run!

Thanks for all the condolences, y'all. Good old Magoo (or Goo Goo as we've called her since the kids came along 9 years ago) sure is missed. I'm 41 years old and she was the "best" cat I ever had. There were some dogs along the way that were maybe more special, but never a cat. Kind of sad today... I can tell the other two cats wonder where Magoo went. The one that is just about the same age just lays with her chin on the floor and eyes open.

DS 6 asked me today if Goo Goo (Magoo) will be in heaven. The best and most honest thing I could come up with was that nothing in the Bible says pets won't be in heaven. I know that won't win me any Dad-of-the-Year prizes, but that's what popped out. We went across the road where I buried Magoo and put down some flowers the kids had picked and said a few words of thanks for having had Magoo for as long as we did.

I am so sorry for your loss of your precious kitty.
