Day 8
We exchanged our room keys in the morning and got the new ones with the unlimited park hoppers. We also got our flex features, meal coupons and vouchers for Circus du Soleil. We used our breakfast coupons at Ohanas. We had breakfast with Mickey, Chip and Dale and Goofy. The food was really good and the characters were very cuddly. I was so excited to see Mickey. I have a hard time getting a picture with him; there are always long lines at the theme parks. I had him all to myself for a while. He was holding my hands and giving me hugs. He noticed the Mickey pin my husband put on his cap and gave my husband a pats on the back.
Just a side note on the pins, we got 2 sets of lanyards but were trying not to get into the pin trading. I figured if we would be buying pins like crazy a new obsession would start and we would be spending all of our time looking for pins! My husband bought a couple of 4 packs of film (we decided to take extra pictures because our video camera wasnt working) and got a couple of free pins. Towards the end of the trip; however, I was really starting to get into all those pins and had to try to refrain from buying them. Some of them are so cool. Im sure well be buying them in the future. We have the lanyards ready to go!
After breakfast we set off for the Magic Kingdom where we did HM, TTA, Pirates and a fast pass for Pooh. We had PS reservations at Cinderellas Royal table for lunch. We saw a lot of Cindy on this trip in fact we saw more characters on this trip than ever. We even got a picture with Donald. Hes always been tough to find in the past. Cindy and Prince Charming were standing out on the balcony of the castle over Fantasyland earlier in the morning and we got a great picture of them. The back of the castle is so pretty.
Weve never eaten in the castle before so we were really excited. The led us into the waiting area and Cinderella was there sitting on her throne. I thought I was going to cry. Cinderella is my favorite Disney movie. We both got pictures of us sitting with her. We had a great lunch. Our lunch coupons allow us 1 appetizer, 1 entrée and a dessert each. DH had a salad and I had the beef barley soup for appetizers. DH had the prime rib and I had the herb crusted salmon sandwich. Both were excellent. I especially loved my salmon. DH had the chocolate mousse and I had a warm apple pastry with caramel and maple walnut ice cream. They were really yummy. I think that this was my favorite meal during the whole vacation. On the way out they let my husband ring the dinner bells. It was a big thrill for him. I was in the restroom and missed his big moment!
After lunch it was time for our fast pass for Peter Pan so we did that. The lines in FantasyLand were pretty long. Fast pass is the best! We probably wouldnt have done any of the FL rides if it werent for it. We caught the Share a Dream come true parade next. I really enjoyed this one. I loved the villains float. It was pretty neat when the evil queen turned into the ugly witch. DH was happy because Ariel was there. The heat was starting to get to us so we hopped on the monorail back to the Poly.
After a quick break we went to the Contemporary for dinner at the Concourse Steak House. My husbands a big steak eater and weve always had a good meal here. We used our dinner coupons and DH ordered a Caesar salad and I had the fresh mozzarella and tomato basil tower in a delicious balsamic sauce. He had the T- bone and I had the Filet Mignion. For dessert I had the Kahlua mousse. Again we had a fabulous meal. We caught the bus for DTD from the Contemporary. We had to exchange our circus vouchers for tickets so we got there over an hour before the performance. Weve never been to the West Side before and loved it. We only had about 1 hour to explore and vowed to go back on the next trip for sure. My husband plays the guitar and noticed a guitar shop there and of course theres the House of Blues. We had admission to Disney Quest on our park hopper ticket so we decided to check it out.
I didnt think we would care for DQ, but we really liked it. We did Cyber Space Mountain (you build you're own coaster). Our coaster was pretty lame. It was only a 1 on the thrill meter (the kids in line behind us were laughing at us, their coasters were 5s the highest on the thrill meter) but it was still fun. We did Pirates of the Caribbean and really loved that. I wish we had more time to explore here. There are about 5 floors of stuff.
The circus was starting soon so we tore ourselves away from DQ. I wasnt sure if I would like the circus either but we both enjoyed it. It was amazing. The cast member who checked us in to the Poly said too bad that they charge you admission for your whole seat because youll only use the edge of it and she was right. The performances kept you on the edge of your seat. The live music was great too. We loved it and were glad we had the opportunity to see it.
It was a really long day. We made it back to the hotel by 11 and crashed. Sadly, Tomorrow would be our last full day.
