Flying into Lax this weekend...

Poor Scott. Did he check the Twitter handle of the person he replied to? Kinda a clue not to take them seriously…
I didn't get the impression that Scott himself was taking that person seriously. The post he quoted has had over 30K views, so he got the official scoop from Disney precisely so he could convince other people not to take it seriously, either.

ICE is targeting companies not complaint with I-9 reporting and - mostly - day laborers. That’s why they hang out at Hime Depot.

Disney is a compliant employer. ICE is not targeting Disneyland. There’s no reason to be concerned about any plans to visit the area. Bountiful Valley Farms was replaced by the Avengers Campus awhile ago ;).
Well, I know I personally would feel A LOT SAFER if I had CAP or THOR escorting me around DLR...IYKYK 😉😂🤣😁

Social media is like one huge game of "Gossip" that we played as kids...I still am amazed at how much people believe what they read on the internet....

They would probably try to deport Thor! 🤣 Emphasis on the word try. 💪🔨⚡

It's worse than that now too, since many of the major sites are literally full of foreign bots, given instructions to cause political unrest in the U.S. and stir up trouble. Don't trust anything you read on Twitter about demonstrations. It's only going to get worse with the ability to create fake video and even video of real newscasters giving false information. Go to reputable news sources directly for accurate and up to date information.

The Disneyland subreddit was completely desperate for this "story" to be true.

All the crazies migrated to Reddit. It got so mad that most of the CM who participated there… left. Not a place of credible information.

When I was scrolling through it, there was a thread where somebody is traveling to CA in just over a *month* and was asking if they should cancel their trip. Unsurprisingly, many of the responses were suggesting so.

For our trip (19 days away):

We are flying non direct into SNA for our arrival. This was our original plan from the beginning. We had a direct flight home from LAX for our departure day, but a couple of days ago we switched the flights to SNA (not direct, red-eye home and arrival time home is later).

I didn't want to project a few weeks away and then get stuck with something we might not be comfortable with or too costly too change. Just decided to get proactive now. I'm not 100% ruling out switching back if the family feels comfortable with it (and costs remain the same).

I didn't love my flight home from LAX anyway and was planning to use standby to grab an earlier flight if possible.

We will have a vehicle early in our trip and was planning to explore beaches, and Universal Studios Hollywood and the sign, but if tension was high enough, we'd just stay at DLR the entire time.

The protests are dwindling and occupy a couple blocks in DTLA, an area few tourists venture into. I don’t understand the hysteria…
Dwindling indeed. A couple of hours after I posted my note last night about KTLA not having a helicopter over the curfew zone, I noticed on FlightRadar24 that even the two CHP aircraft had gone home. The arrests last night were just of people who chose not to leave the area and were done very calmly.

You must not be watching the state-sponsored channel. ;)

Not trying to get political at all here, but if somebody just wants to avoid the area at all - it's not hard to blame them.

I get your point, but what "area" is reasonable to avoid? LA County is over 4,000 sq. mi., of which the curfew zone is only 1-2 sq. mi. And, of course, Disneyland is in another county entirely . Should visitors avoid Universal Studios? Griffith Park? Hollywood Blvd.? Santa Monica Pier? The Getty? All of those are closer to downtown LA than Disneyland is—and all are far away from the curfew zone.

I will let people know if I have an issue but I will be at 3 parks this weekend (Disneyland, Six Flags, USH) and will let people know if it affects you going through LA but last weekend. I had zero issues getting to the Getty, USH, Disneyland, or the Hollywood bowl

Not saying these can't affect some people if they take the wrong turn but....especially for Disneyland this should have almost no effect on Traffic or you

If people want to believe the Media that its a war zone and people are living like the Walking dead here enjoy the fantasy but its business as normal for most people in 99% of LA and the counties around it.

I think legitimately, some of it is people simply honestly not understanding the actual physical geography and where things are. Also, LA is absolutely massive and sprawling, which exacerbates the issue. People outside of LA hear downtown LA on the news and have no idea what that actually means/covers/includes.

There are governors, Congressman and members of the incumbent administration who have shared images from prior events - wildfires, George Floyd riots and even Rodney King - as current. The “hard news” side of Fox keeps insisting that LA is a total war zone. I’ll leave it up to individuals to decide whether it’s intentional or not but it’s understandably causing people to question their plans to visit the area.
