Our family loves Chef Mickeys. It is a must do every trip but.... We left without eating this time! The noise and the SMELL from the ongoing construction was awful!!!:scared1: We were seated and ordered drinks and while we waited for the drinks to come we decided to leave mainly because of the SMELL ughhhh it smelled like paint and burning rubber!! The family next to us was considering leaving as well. The CMs were very sweet but really what can they do?:confused3 It is not their fault! We ended up going back to MK and grabbing counter service.

I hope you mean it's off your list this trip and not forever. At least the problem was due to a temporary situation. The construction will be over and hopefully you can go back to your beloved restaurant your next trip. :goodvibes

That's a shame we love Chef Mickey's :worship: we ate there on 8/24 for breakfast and had no problem.

No... Not forever... just until the construction is over.:upsidedow

Does anyone know when this construction will be over?? :confused3 We have ressies there for breakfast on 12/5, and it's our last big meal in WDW. I don't want to end the trip on a disappointment. :sad2:

We have a breakfast ADR for next Sunday and I'm scared it's going to be a disaster...that will be a lousy way to start off our trip...:headache:

Someone on another thread reported that they stopped working during meals, but I can't imagine that they can do that during free dining when they're offering breakfast, lunch and dinner!

I would also like to know this....we are heading down Oct. 20th and have dinner reservations.

They aren't slated to open until Sept. 2009...so I would imagine construction will be going on for a while still. We have ressies on 10/7...hopefully it won't smell that bad!:confused3

I know what you mean. I'm wondering if I should change our ressies to someplace else :confused3

We did the same thing. When we got off the monorail, we literally saw a cloud of construction dust over the restaurant. There was no way I would ever eat in a restaurant that is completely exposed to that. The noise was much louder than I expected. I couldn't believe it. We walked right up to the podium and canceled our ADR.

:scared1: Oh my...thats awful - I would have done the same thing. I may check out Whispering Canyon for dinner on this night instead, or if anyone has any suggestions of anything comparable - that would be great. This is on the night of arrival, so anything is fine.

Oh, this is just terrible. I wouldn't even know where else to go for our last breakfast.

I might recommend Crystal Palace as a substitute for Chef Mickey's. Good ambiance and a view of the castle!

We were there last week and we never noticed smell and sound was not a problem for us. Breakfast at 7:30 and we left around 9am. (No construction work was going on. Although, we did see scaffolds at the monorail.)

How long is the construction for??? I have a friends leaving in mid October--DOes anyone know?? I would so bummed if that was the case for me...we had a great time there!

WE are going Nov. 16th for b'fast. Hope it's not too bad then. From what i have read here, it is stopped during dinner not b'fast or lunch. I am keeping my adr and hoping for less construction by then.

I'm going november 10th for bf. Hopefully it won't be too bad:wizard:
