Our Anniversary Week at the Happiest Place on Earth!! TR DONE 8/30 SOUVENIR POST SOON

I always hang on for dear life at TOT. They do a great job with freakin you out. I always have to build up some courage to ride that one. Sci-Fi dinner looked so fun! And I'm excited to hear about American Idol!!

Excellent update! That is really interesting about the TOT and how they designed it to blend in with the Morocco pavilion. I've never heard that before! I love your ride picture too, though I am usually more like the person in the yellow behind you guys with their arms up in the air!

Glad you enjoyed Sci-Fi too. We've always enjoyed it there.

Can't wait to hear about American Idol!!!!

My DD and I LOVE the TOT. We could ride it all day. We finally talked my husband into riding it last year and he also like it. Maybe not as much as we do, but at least he liked it and I could say "I told you so". Now we only have to get DS (6 years old) to learn to like it, that may be impossible for a while.

Hey! i found your trip report yesterday and im almost caught up!

It really caught my attention because after i started reading i realized we have a lot in common, im from long island also and from what you've said in your TR it sounds like we live within 10 minutes of each other. Also, im going to the world in aug (33 days!) with my boyfriend for our 3 year anniversary, and we are staying at one the the all-stars too, ASSp.

It sounds like you had a great time and im really enjoying reading your TR because it is getting me so excited for my trip. Great pictures too!

yay for the sci-fi!

It's a tradition of ours!

I tried the oreo shake last time and loved it.

The problem is that they bring the shake first, and by the time the food gets there, I'm almost full lol Yeah, I have no self-control when it comes to food in Disney.

Sci-Fi was good, we liked it. The ambience really makes it great and the orero shake was delicious for sure.

And P.S., I have no self control for food, period haha

great report. I'm really kidda looking forward to our sci fi ressie

you should be! and you leave so soon!!

What a fun update. Two of my favorite things to do at that park. We always go to Sci-Fi and we haven't ever had a bad meal yet. Of course, we stick to simple stuff, but we wouldn't keep going there if I thought it was bad. So weird about the seating.

ToT and Sci-Fi are 2 great things in DHS. What I hear from most people is, like you said, stick to simple stuff at Sci-Fi and you'll be good. The seating situation was a little weird though.

Fun! Did you notice how they changed ToT? It was like a ton of little bunny hops instead of one big drop then back up and down a few times. It was TERRIBLE when I went in May - I thought I was going to vomit!! I'm glad you liked sci fi - we had slow service as well and were also seated in the back of a family's car. I would've asked for another table as soon as I saw the baby in the high chair LOL

I didn't notice the changes to ToT, probably because I hadn't been there in 3 yrs when I went and in 2005 I wasn't a Disney fanatic like I am now haha

The Sci-Fi seating thing was good. The people luckily finished eating before we did so it worked out alright but we probably should have just asked to move now that I think about it! LOL

I like this area. It's always so nice and shady, and the landscaping and decor is cute.

That area is so cute! I wish I would have gotten more pictures over there.

Awesome CAR! Is yours black? I love black cars! Also, thanks for the pictures from the TOT because DH and I don't want to ride it but I always say I would love to walk through it and then EXIT.. hehe and soo those pictures were awesome to see. its exactly as I pictured! hehe

and don't worry about getting behind on the TR and other TR's I'm always behind lately.;)

Thanks! Mine is black yea, the only thing it doesnt have yet is the spoiler on it thats in the picture. I'm getting that put on soon.

You and your DH should ride ToT! Don't be wimps! LOL How'd you grandma's visit go?

just caught up!

so funny about the bus driver creating a story with the announcements. how random but fun!

go you for beating chris! :thumbsup2

i love sci-fi - glad you guys liked it too. they probably sat you in the same car because not all the servers were there yet and so they were just seating the sections for the servers that had arrived. i know when i worked at a restaurant we'd have servers that would come in at 30-minute intervals between 10:00 and 12:00 for lunch shifts. just a guess though!

The bus driver was so hilarious he had the whole bus rolling laughing so hard.

I was sooo thrilled to beat Chris on TSM, go me!

We liked Sci-Fi, we would eat there again as long as we stuck to basic stuff. You're probably right about the seating. IT was only a little after 11 so I would assume that not all of the servers were there yet. Thanks for the insight :)

Fun update!!! I definitely agree that ToT is Disney theming at its best! Too bad I have been too chicken to ride it since 1998. You mentioned a hand bar in front -- do all the rows have that?

Sci-Fi is too much fun! Did you laugh the entire time during all those movie clips? I think we were crying from laughing at the cheesiness!

The themeing of ToT is on the same level as AK themeing, in my opinion! I love it! I know you don't ride it but you totally should give it a shot again!! The handbar I only noticed in the front row. It worked for us since we clung to them haha

Sci-Fi was really cool. We didn't get to enjoy the clips as much as I would have liked to thought because we were in the back of the restaurant and we were in the car with the family in front of us. We have to try it again now, I guess!

I love the ToT line once you get inside the building! That ride makes me laugh. Love the redneck pic!

Haha..the GMR movies while in line..you'll get annoyed with me over break. I sing along to all the songs and say all the words to the narrator's stuff to announce the movie. Sis hates me in that line. :rolleyes1 OMG, I hate it when the driver tries too hard to have the "New York accent".

WOOO! American Idol's coming up! :woohoo:

ToT is one of the best rides in WDW, I love it! The redneck pic is funny haha

I wont get annoyed that you say the words on the GMR, I'll probably try to learn them with you! The gangster is annoying with the accent.

I always hang on for dear life at TOT. They do a great job with freakin you out. I always have to build up some courage to ride that one. Sci-Fi dinner looked so fun! And I'm excited to hear about American Idol!!

Even though I wasn't scared for ToT, the stomach dropping can't help but get you nervous! Sci-Fi was really cool and AI is coming up soon!

I knew someone would be interested in my random WDW trivia haha Next time I need to be the brave person with my arms up like you. I'll do it and take a picture of the redneck shot to prove it LOL

Glad you got your DH to ride ToT! I wonder if he'll ride it again next time you go, that will be the true test of how much he likes it LOL I love that ride so much!

:welcome: glad you're joining the TR!! Thats so cool that you're from LI! Where do you live? I understand if you don't want to say in online, thats cool with me but I figured I'd ask anyway. So cool that you're leaving for the World so soon! I'm jealousssss.

We definitely had an amazing time in WDW and I'm glad you're enjoying reading about it. I love your avatar too!

All the rides at Hollywood Studios look great! I can't wait to get there and try them all out!

DHS is my favorite park I love animation! I loved when you could go thru the animation studios and watch them sketch the upcoming movies! I was very upset when they took that out and put in all that modern crap! :) We were in there when they were doing Mulan, Toy Story 2 , Brother Bear!

Those TOT pics are AWESOME! Love them! And the ride pic...so cool! You know we haven't been inside the AI thing yet. I'm not an AI fan but I still want to check it out.

I'm so with you! It's hard to get online when it's so nice out. Plus I've been trying to force myself to work out every day. I'd be okay if my TR's were done. :goodvibes

Great update!! Sounds like you were having a fun day at HS!!! Your pictures of TOT are GREAT! That's probably as close as I'll ever get to it though!! :lmao:

Your meal at SciFi sounds great! That's another place I'd like to try at some point!

Can't wait for more!

Sci fi looks good. I think that is a place I want to try next trip for something different. I tend to want to do alot of the same stuff, because I liked the expereince the first time, but I'm going to try new things next time.

Great update! I think the line for RnRC was crazy all day!! We got FP's at noon and our return time wasn't till 4:00! :scared1:

My whole family LOVES TOT! You got some awesome pictures of the theming inside the hotel. I never remember to take those pictures! Nice job! :thumbsup2

We did Sci-Fi in 2007 and really enjoyed it. The service was a bit slow, but the food was good and the atmosphere can't be beat! I'm glad you enjoyed it as well!

Again...I don't see us in any of your crowd pictures. I'll keep looking!

We didn't do the American Idol Experience...looking forward to your review! :goodvibes

Thanks! Im from Mastic, what about you? (if you dont mind saying of course) & i totally agreed with you when you were talking about the rain and how it needs to stop. thank god it did and now it finally feels like summer!

All the rides at Hollywood Studios look great! I can't wait to get there and try them all out!

They're soooo much fun! TSM, RnRC and ToT are definitely 3 of the best rides in WDW. You're going to love them!

DHS is my favorite park I love animation! I loved when you could go thru the animation studios and watch them sketch the upcoming movies! I was very upset when they took that out and put in all that modern crap! :) We were in there when they were doing Mulan, Toy Story 2 , Brother Bear!

I really loved DHS more after this trip than I did before it. It's just so much fun! That sounds so cool to see the animation. Now its all computers but it would have been so fun to see all the actual drawing!

Those TOT pics are AWESOME! Love them! And the ride pic...so cool! You know we haven't been inside the AI thing yet. I'm not an AI fan but I still want to check it out.

Glad you like the ToT pics Tammy! Our ride pic was actually pretty good too, us wuss's holding on haha You should try the AI thing in Aug. Its a nice break and the performers are good too.

You will never be done with TRs because you go to WDW so often! :rotfl: I wish I had that problem! As for working out, I run in the mornings. If I have work I wake up a half hour before I normally do and run a mile. If I don't have work I just wake up whenever and then go running first thing and do a mile and a half. I'm hoping if I keep doing it I'll finally lose some weight and build up my endurance!

Great update!! Sounds like you were having a fun day at HS!!! Your pictures of TOT are GREAT! That's probably as close as I'll ever get to it though!! :lmao:

Oh noooo not another TOT wuss! hahaha Glad you like the pictures thought!

Your kids would LOVE Sci-Fi! Definitely worth trying :thumbsup2

I think you guys would like Sci-Fi, especially Claire. The whole car setup seems to really grab kids attention. I know what you mean about repeating restaurants. You like it the first time you go so why would you not just go again, right?

Great update! I think the line for RnRC was crazy all day!! We got FP's at noon and our return time wasn't till 4:00! :scared1:

Idk why RnRC was such a long line! I mean, yes, its a GREAT ride but so is ToT and ToT was never as long of a wait as RnRC was! We loved ToT I wish we would have gotten a chance to ride it again!

Sci-Fi was really cool, definitely glad we tried it. The atmosphere and nice servers made up for the slow service. :thumbsup2

Thanks! Im from Mastic, what about you? (if you dont mind saying of course) & i totally agreed with you when you were talking about the rain and how it needs to stop. thank god it did and now it finally feels like summer!

hi followed your TR from tinkgurl, love it! can't wait to read more:)

Yayy thanks for joining in!! :thumbsup2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My parents, Chris and I were in Atlantic City Wednesday and Thursday of this week so sorry that there's been yet ANOTHER delay in getting this TR done! We're not millionaires but Chris did win $200! We were excited for that  I'll post some pictures if I get a chance. Otherwise, on with the show!

I realized that in the last post I had left out a photopass shot we got on the way to ToT. I didn't order the CD and then I continuously forgot to log on to the PP website to see the rest of our prints :( but this one we bought along with another one I'll show you later that we got free with booking a package. I think this came out really cute if I do say so myself. I scanned it so quality is not so great
blizzardbeach022.jpg

When I last left off we had just finished up our yummy appetizer lunch at Sci-Fi. We decided to head over to walk through One Man's Dream at this point. It was about 12:15 and we had some time to kill because our fastpass return wasn't until 12:40. Chris was really looking forward to seeing the history of Disney and learning about Walt. My little history nerd :lovestruc Anyway, we made it almost to the attraction and Chris felt a grumbly in his tumbly that needed tending to ASAP. He headed off to handle his business while I just waited near the Chronicles of Narnia attraction. (Side note: that's one attraction i'm sure i'll NEVER do at WDW.) I took a few pictures while waiting, of course.

This movie was coming out to theaters soon, which I'm some of you have seen...

Once Chris was done we did head towards OMD. We both really appreciated this display and tribute to Walt. I think Chris read every single little blurb about Walt and Disney history in the whole place. I read like 80% LOL At this point I was texting tinkgurl too. We were talking about The Voyage of the Little Mermaid and whether we should try it or not. I thought it was a ride but she informed me that it was a show. I pondered trying to drag Chris into it or conning him into thinking it was a ride and we should do it but then decided against it. No VotLM for us. Here's some decent OMD pictures. Again, we really loved this attraction. What a wonderful tribute to a spectacular man. Everyone should take some time to go through here at least once.

continued in next post...

continued from previous post....

I wasn't really interested in staying for the show at the end of this attraction but Chris wanted to! Cute, I know. There was another showing of it within like 5 minutes of us finishing the walk through so we just waited. Not gonna lie, I dozed off! I'm sure it was probably an interesting little movie but between the darkness and the AC, I was out! Chris watched the whole thing though and he liked it. By the time we were done with the movie our FPs for TSM were good! We headed over there and jumped on the FP line. We still waited about 10 mins but that was muchhh better than the 100 minute wait time that was posted for standby! So I know a lot of people were wondering what the outcome was for the second TSM ride. Would I beat Chris again? Let's see...I'm on the left, he's on the right
161-1.jpg

He won...but not by much! And I was kicking his butt the whole time, beating him but at least 15-20 thousand points but then he pulled ahead at that last bonus round! Ughh! He was redeemed in his eyes now and we wished we could have ridden it again to do a tie breaker but the FPs were out by like noon so no luck there.

It was around 1:40 now and Chris was dyingggg to do the American Idol Experience. He doesn't like AI in real life so idk why he wanted to do it so badly but he did. A show started at 2 so we headed that way. I was excited to get to try an attraction that had just opened recently before our trip! For anyone whose never done AIE yet what happens is you go and wait in the standing area first where there's a bunch of TV screens playing old AI clips and stuff.
The TVs outside
162-1.jpg

Then a hype man comes out and you start "filming" outside in the standing room area. It was really cute they went up to this one boy about 8 yrs old and told him the name of one of the girl contestants for the next show and told him to say "(insert girl's name here), you're MY American Idol!" and then blow her a kiss. Then before she sung, it played over the big screens in the theater. Other contestants had well wishes from previous American Idol singers play for them. Before we even entered the theater we were pumped for the show!

When we walked into the theater we were shocked at how much it looked like the real AI set! We were one of the first inside so we ended up all the way at the left side of the theater in the 2nd or 3rd row.
163-1.jpg

164-1.jpg

165-1.jpg

The hype man comes in with you and explains the show as well as how to vote. I should have taken a picture but the voting buttons are on the arm rests. You just press the number button of the contestant you want to vote for after all 3 performances.
This is the hype man on stage
166-1.jpg

167-1.jpg

He was really good at his job and pretty funny too. He definitely got us all "hyped" up! Then after a few minutes the Ryan Seacrest type guy, show host comes out as well as the judges. This was the best picture I got of them since they were on the other side of the stage.
168-1.jpg

Then out come the contestants
169-1.jpg

The first girl sang "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson. She was probably 16 or 17 and was there with her school choir on a trip. She's the only one I got a picture of while she was actually singing
170-1.jpg

Then there was a guy probably in his mid-30s who sang a Motown song, I can't remember what song! Last was another young girl, maybe 19 or 20 who sang "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" (i think thats the name of it!) by KT Tunstall. The judges were obviously playing their part; there was the Randy judge, Paula judge and Simon judge, who even had the accent! After all 3 sang we voted. We voted for the last girl who was clearly the best, in our opinion. We both agreed on that. Then the Ryan Seacrest guy announce the winner and our girl won! She got a ticket to perform in the finale at 7 that night and the winner of the finale gets to cut the line to tryout for the real American Idol at the tryout nearest their hometown! I think that's so awesome!

I would definitely say to try the AIE at least once. Chris wanted to see it again and the finale! He's nutso HAHA I told him we can watch the finale in Nov/Dec when we're there. It was a really cool experience and was very much like the show!

Next up:: a bumpy ride, tale as old as time and the Fantasmic dinner package!

Ooooh I can't wait to try American Idol!!! It is pretty cool that the winner gets a ticket to audition for the real show. Wonder if they'll show any of the Disney winners next season...:scratchin
