Our 2nd Trip to Disney! Did it Measure Up? (w/pics) **THE END**

So, it appears some of you think I am chatty. Jordan referred to me as chatty in his PTR. Now Irene has jumped on the bandwagon. Am I chatty? Maybe I just feel obligated to share every last detail of my trip with you all. It's not MY fault.

Let's ask someone that knows me in real life. Liz (liznboys)? Where are ya hon? Am I chatty? Go ahead and tell the truth. I'll still love you :lovestruc

I refuse to ask my husband this question though. :snooty:

I completely forgot to mention my newest dilemma. I was talking to my parents last night (who are excited about the trip and are putting everything into my "capable" planning hands - their word -). First, my stepgrandparents both fell the other night. My grandmother was feeling dizzy and my grandfather reached out to stop her and they both ended up falling :( How sweet is that though? He is totally in no condition to help her, but he tried. They both went by ambulance to the hospital, but he was sent home and she stayed a few nights. Both are fine. My stepmother asked my grandfather what he wanted her to bring back from Disney World and he said "Nothing. I already have everything."

ANYWAY (does a chatty person go off on tangents when trying to tell a story? :confused3 ), my stepmother mentioned that my dad was a bit unhappy because they'd be flying down to Orlando during the Patriots game. I had no idea what time they were playing next weekend and it turns out the game is at 4 p.m. on Sunday. My parents' flight? It arrives at 5!!! :scared1: So, you know we will be RUSHING back to the townhouse to watch the game. I will check and see if there is a DVR, although I highly doubt it. But, the plus side is that we'll be able to watch the game on a HD Plasma TV! :cool1: It's a good thing I didn't plan anything for that evening.

I need to ask something to see if I am truly an obsessive PTR geek. Tell me if I'm the only one that does this. When I'm reading through a long PTR (not naming names or anything *cough*jordan's*cough* - hey man, have I plugged your PTR enough yet? :confused3 ), I will open up a separate window. What is this window for you ask? Well, I guess if you have to ask then you don't do what I do. I open a 2nd window so that I can keep refreshing the PTR page and see if any new replies have been posted to either this thread or any of the others that I read. So, am I sick? Certifiable? :dance3: What's the verdict? Sometimes I even use the other window to post another update in my OWN thread (like I'm doing right now).

Lastly, I'm going to leave you with a little funny. Owen is my easy child, my very loving child. He tells me numerous times a day that he loves me (he's just like his dad :rolleyes1 ). His New Year's Resolution this year? To love his mom. I KID YOU NOT. He had to come up with 4 resolutions, each one pertaining to different people in his life, such as his friends, his teacher, his parents, etc.

Anyway, every once in a while, we catch a glimpse of Owen's mean side. In class lately, he's been learning to write friendly letters. He brought home a final draft of one the other day. This is what it said:

Dear Santa,

Hello. So, how are your reindeer? Well, I have three computers.
Sometimes my brother Sully is mean to my little brother and me so don't give him presents.

Your friend,

Owen

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Lol - you just have more followers than I do! If I were Southern, I'd've had to say "All y'all have been chatty" so you would've known I didn't mean just you, Carissa! But, I do think you managed to add more pages to your PTR over the weekend than I have, total!

Oh, and I can't take credit for the post-it note idea - I read it somewhere else first. (I forget if it was here on the DIS or on one of my parenting boards). Dd's fear of automatic toilets was relatively manageable before, but after a traumatic flush while sitting on the potty, she was terrified of all of them! Believe me, the sticker thing was a complete brainstorm built on desperation! (I was actually on my way to the souvenir shop to look for post-its or stickers when I realized I had a form of stickers.)

Oh, and don't worry too much about not knowing the times for the playoff games ahead of time. I mean, no one even knew who would be playing in them back when you planned the trip! (But, maybe you can figure out the radio station that plays the games, so you can listen in the car back to the house?)

Of course I knew the Pats would be in the playoffs! :woohoo: But I like the radio station idea. I will have to investigate :thumbsup2

 ...I hope Connor does well on the trip. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Chatty? Is chatty bad?? :confused3

Oh, I'm sorry about your grandparents. :( That IS so sweet though!! What a heartwarming story.

LMBO to Owen's Santa letter! :rotfl:

You are doing well, you've got your lists going! You'll be ok!! :thumbsup2

I had extra Home Depot paint sample cards and was trying to think of what I could do with them. Then I got the idea of bringing Josie the Kitten along with us to Disney! She may not be able to be there in body, but she can be with us in spirit.

I geared up to tell the whole family my crazy idea figuring they’d immediately look for a straight jacket. But, lo and behold, they thought it was a fantastic idea! Even DH!!! I don’t think he realized right away that my main reason for doing it was to entertain you all with fun pictures ;)

I want you to know that I came up with this idea before I even knew about Winkie-on-a-Stick (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, you need to read jordanyosh’s PTR ;)). Honestly, I began making Mickey Head Josie (MHJ) the same day I made my little planning book (I admit that I DO steal a lot of ideas from people, but I AM capable of coming up with my own ideas once in a blue moon). But, I was waiting to laminate it before I took a picture. And then I saw Flat Winkers. And I thought, a popscicle stick!!! What a fantastic idea!!!! This way someone can hold MHJ without their fingers covering her face. Brilliant! So, without further ado, here is MHJ!!!

I ended up having to cut out pieces from black construction paper to cover the magenta colored Mickey ears. And it's still not laminated because Chuck forgot to bring home the laminating pages :sad1: But, I just couldn't wait any longer to reveal MHJ who will now be accompanying us to Disney World.

Up Next...Miscellaneous Packing List

I'm very excited about taking along my Canon EOS SLR Digital Rebel to Disney World. I may have already mentioned this, but during our last trip, I just used my small digital that I got for Christmas last year (I wanted it for our trip so that it would be small and not take up much space). The Canon Rebel takes awesome pictures and I'm looking forward to capturing some great shots (I hope!). The only thing I'm not happy about is that I only have a 50 mm lens. No zoom. I MAY have to remedy that before our trip ;) Here's a picture of my expensive baby:

IMG_1225.jpg

I have a problem, though. I really need a different bag for it. The one I have is shaped like a rectangular block. Carrying that in the parks is not going to be fun. I'm looking for something that can be easily slung over the shoulder, shaped more like a small backpack. Does anyone know a good place to shop for camera bags (and lenses)?

We're getting down to final lists now. This list is for items that will just go in the van, but aren't for use IN the van.

~ Miscellaneous Packing List ~

My pillow (I have neck problems and really need my pillow to be happy.)

Food items (list is in BINDER and I will do shopping today)

Camera (should I bring both cameras? the smaller one is having issues with the batteries holding a charge)

Hamper(s)

I'm sure there's more for this list, but that's all I can think of at the moment. Plus, I can't remember what I have on the overnight backpack list and don't want to list something twice!

Last question for you all about jackets. We'll be bringing sweatshirts and windbreakers (along with hats and gloves). Do you think that's enough or should be have our winter coats as well? I'm thinking we should bring them just in case.

Up Next...Help Me Decide

On jackets - check the long range forecast before you decide. We caught the very coldest day, so were very happy to have our winter coats - but I saw lots of people who didn't have them, and just lots of layers. Do you like to layer, or prefer to just throw on a big coat?

I think layering is better at keeping you warm.

Seeing as I live outside of Baltimore, I'm sure there is. I'll have to take a gander on Google and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the recommendation.

Now what do you suggest for a nice, but fairly inexpensive zoom lens? :confused3

lens I am not sure about. I have 2 for my camera and they both came with it. U could ask at the store or go onto the photography board on here and ask there. They r very helpful on that thread.

A new reader! Yippee!! :cool1:

:welcome:

Someone who likes to read about Australia :thumbsup2 I actually DID get to cuddle a koala. Well, I held it for a very short time while they snapped the picture. But, it was cool anyway :) I have a picture of it somewhere, but it's an awful one of me so I don't think it will find its way here ;)

Glad you're along for the ride! And I will definitely take lots of pictures of our townhouse (there's actually a website for the place we're staying at with pictures too, but I'll post the link once I return ;)).

Thanks Scott! I have a feeling I will have some pictures of newly purchased items to post later tonight ;)

still chatting away I see.

We've created a monster..;) I just wait for my email to ding to see what threads have been posted in.

Too bad your cat and Winkie won't be able to meet.

Nice camera.....

Waiting to see what you purchase. You're probably buying it right now.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Awwww!!! I love MHJ!! :teeth:

On winter coats... Hmm, well there was one trip (Feb 05) where we had a chilly/breezy day and I was kinda wishing we had our winter coats! But, as nice as it would have been to have them when we were outside, they would have been a big, bulky pain to deal with when we were inside on rides and stuff.

I would stick with layering. Even a tank top underneath a tshirt (like an undershirt) can make a difference. And/Or do the long sleeve t with the short sleeve t on top, then a sweatshirt on top of that. Some gloves and a hat, and I think that would keep one quite warm!

I'm looking at the 15 day forecast and it's hard to say just what it will feel like there:

http://www.accuweather.com/forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=1&zipcode=32801&metric=0

That one chilly day we had that I mentioned didn't actually have a very low temp (and it was crystal clear sunshine), but it was that strong breeze that made it feel so cold!

Actually, I was out buying grocery items for the trip. But, as soon as Chuck gets home from work, I plan on heading to the mall (Scott - I found a Ritz Camera at our local mall :cool1: ). I'll post pictures later.

I guess I should just subscribe to the PTR's and TR's, eh? I know I've tried subscribing in the past and it never works for me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong :confused3

I have lots of fun things planned for Josie the Kitten, well her alter ego MHJ anyway. I asked her what her favorite ride is so that I can be sure she goes on it. Does anyone speak CAT? I'm thinking she said Finding Nemo ;)

Yeah, I hadn't thought of that. Good point.

Brrrrrr. That Sunday, arrival day, looks a bit nippy! I guess the good thing about DW is that there are lots of indoor attractions if you need to warm up :thumbsup2
