Hi everyone!
We are back (thank goodness!) and ready for our third trip on the DxDP.
Honestly, I did not think we would be back this soon. We (we being the operative word
) decided that this year we would try something new for our vacation. So instead of heading to D-World for the fourth time in 4 years, we spent a few days visiting Niagara Falls and Toronto. It
well
.it sucked. (Sorry to all you NYers and Canadians. Nothing personal.) Due to some lingering health issues which affected the trip, the 18% tax on EVERYTHING, and the myriad of tourist traps, we found ourselves hankering for our happy place. Honestly, I think we were subconsciously comparing everything to D-World (even though we said we wouldnt) and discovered that we felt ripped off and dissatisfied.
Fast forward a few months and here we are a month away from D-World again!!
Since our health issues have finally stopped controlling our lives, we decided to start celebrating us. Hence, our No-Flat-Tire DxDP Trip!
This was a totally spur of the moment trip (like, we booked a month ago) and we are never this spontaneous! A HUGE part of our D-World experiences revolve around food. We were on the DxDP 2 years ago on our honeymoon and have yet to stray. We love having the food prepaid, ordering a crazy amount of food that we would NEVER EVER be able to normally order, and enjoying many signature restaurants.
Since I am one of those people who is up at 6am on the 180th day before our trip, I was slightly concerned about finding ADRs when we were only 2 months out. I must say, I have been pleasantly surprised by the availability of most of our favorites. There are still a couple things I could (and am trying to) tweak, but thats just how I roll.
We are only going for 5 days, 5 nights (getting in really late first night) at ASSp. We usually go value because we would rather spend the money on food. ASSp is our favorite value because they are on the bus route first.
About us: DH has become wayyy more adventurous since our engagement trip. Previously, he would only eat select meats, absolutely NO veggies, barely any fruits, and not many desserts (now isnt that crazy?). His diet mainly consisted of pizza and sandwiches, and thank goodness he has changed. Now, he will eat pretty much anything except he still refuses to try Brussels sprouts again. He loves meat (especially bacon), will eat most veggies, and will at least have a few bites of my dessert. His favorites are pizza, bacon, steak, lamb chops, any other meat, steamed blue-claw crabs, and Starburst.
I will eat anything. Well, anything but peaches and artichokes. I enjoy trying new things but definitely love my old favorites. I love mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, seafood, and spaghetti. Oh but I also love Chinese and sushi. Desserts are my thing. It is forbidden for us to get the same dessert when on DxDP because I want to try as many different ones as possible.
Even more awesome than us being on DxDP, is that it is also the Food & Wine Festival!!! We are both super duper pumped about this and look forward to many of the foods and drinks being offered. The craft beer kiosk is calling our names, as is the cheddar cheese soup, lobster roll, and so many more. This is our first F&W experience.
Another new-for-us thing we are going to hit this year is Jellyrolls. I will try to report on any drinks we have there as well.
Sorry for the lengthy intro, but here are our ADRs:
Thursday:
Food and Wine Booths most of the day
8pm The Wave (new to us)
Friday:
12noon Mama Melrose (DH's request...he loved their pizza, of course)
7pm Jiko (been twice, LOVE it)
Saturday:
8:30am Crystal Palace (been 3 times, my absolute favorite breakfast on property)
7pm Citricos (been once, LOVED it)
Sunday:
Flame Tree lunch (been twice, one of the best counter service in our opinions)
5:30 Cali Grill (been twice, LOVE it)
Monday:
4pm Brown Derby (been twice, LOVE it)
We plan to fill in with any snack credits we dont use at F&W.
So, theres the plan. Cant wait to take some great food pics and give you guys all the juicy details!
