Ouch, central air condenser needs to be replaced

Of course we didn't realize the AC wasn't working until Tuesday (the 1st hot/humid day this year). The repairman came today and originally thought the outside fuse had just blown. However when he put in the new ones and started the system up the condenser made a loud knocking noise and died. Last year we had to replace the coil inside so after this repair we'll have a brand new unit. Well, at least they take credit cards so we can get miles out of it

My parents AC just konked out a few weeks ago. The repair guy came out, figured out what was wrong, went back to the van and then came back smiling.

Repair Man: "Uh, Mr Fulcer, your Furnace was part of a manufacturer recall for this very reason. I've been authorized to replace it at no cost to you."

Mr Fulcer:

Repair Man: "Or, if you wanted to throw in an extra $1000, we can upgrade you to a more efficient two stage furnace."

Mr Fulcer: "Who do I make the check out to?"

YIKES. I hope your AC doesn't cost too much to repair.

Wow Jeff that is great. Something similar happened to us before when our AC warranty had expired. Sorry CEDmom that your AC went on the fritz.
