If you wanted to secure 3 nights at the 7 month window & needed OTUP to complete the reservation, could you reserve 2 nights online at 8AM then call MS to purchase the OTUP and extend the reservation to include the 3rd night? Or is that bypassing the 7 month window and you’d have to wait until 9AM 7 months out from the 3rd day to reserve your last day?

Not a question I have seen asked or answered before, but my sense would be that it should work by calling at 9 a.m. For example, you could do that addition anytime after 8 a.m. if you had other points from another resort that you did not use when making the first reservation at 8 a.m. OTUPs would seem to fall within that same concept as long as the original reservation was made at 7 months out. Moreover, the only reason you cannot use OTUP points until 9 a.m. is simply because you have to call to get and use them because the online reservation and modification system is not set up to deal with the purchase and use of OTUPs. Thus, you need to wait until 9 not because there is any particular rule against using the points exactly 8 a.m. but only because of the inadequacy of the online system. When you attempt to do it, let us know what happens.

i agree. And I'm interested in the answer. I know that they will generally ONLY sell you the One Time Use Points when you make the reservation. Not after, and I don't think they will before, either. Though maybe I'm wrong on that. But, to my mind, adding the 3rd day looks like a new reservation, but added to the 2 days you had before. So I would think they will do it.

Yes there's no way to get them before hand and I need a 2 bed Dec 29-Jan 1, so waiting until 9:00 is not a good idea. I'll give it ago and see if they can do it.

Since you’re allowed to book up to 7 nights when the window opens and you only need 3, I don’t see why it won’t work. I think I’ve done it, actually, booking 6 nights online with my points and then calling at 9 to add the last night and purchase the necessary OTU points, but I don’t have access to my records right now to check when that was.

It never occurred to me that this would be a problem. I booked 5 nights at my home resort at 11 months, and will need to add a 6th night using OTUPs plus the rest of my regular points when we get to the 7 month mark. I just assumed that I would be able to call at 7 months, buy the OTUPs and add the additional day (that is if the room is available at that point). DH keeps saying we need to buy more points and I've been brushing him off, but I guess he's right!
