The question was asked in this thread below. Do you need to have all your points committed to reservations to purchase OTUP's?

Myself and others responded that no, you do not. I think that is the right answer. However, I was just denied purchase today because I had points in my membership available to make a requested modification. I was intending to use my MMB benefit to purchase 12 points and get 12 free. The CM made my modification but said the sale didn't go through because I had points available for the modification. They didn't seem to know of any rule preventing doing what I was doing, my impression was that they just didn't know how to get the system to accept it. I didn't have time to argue it, so I accepted the mod, and ended the call.

I was intending to call back and try again when I had time. Getting the 12 free OTUPs was one of the reasons I bought MMB. Anybody else have that happen? Am I wrong about being allowed to do what I was planning?

When it was first started, they did require you to be out of points.

It was a way to avoid borrowing. That didn’t last long, and it was changed to allow anytime you wanted to purchase.

It’s possible they have updated rules?

But the rule has always been you can only do it for new reservations…were you trying to buy for a reservation in existence?

If so, it could have been that. While some CMs would do it in the same call, you should have been able to buy for a brand new night.

I always thought I had to be out of points on that contract, not sure why I thought that, I assume that was a rule at some point? But then I saw people saying the opposite. I was out of points on one purchase I know that. My 2nd purchase I cant remember, but I dont think I was.
