I'm planning out the makeover of my office/craft/guest room. I've currently got tons of 12x12 in a rubbermaid type tote. Had this idea that wouldn't it be awesome if a black faux leather storage ottoman existed that could manage to store 12x12 paper? I'm thinking inside storage height is the only dimension to overcome.

I see these everywhere. Walmart, Target, Kmart.... Wonder if they would fit?

Only needs to be strong enough to put feet up on. I don't expect anyone to be sitting on it.

I don't think an ottoman would be able to handle the weight of the paper. I had a laminate table top that I was scrapping on. It ended up bowing from the weight I had on it. Would you be able to make a wooden ottoman, it might be stronger than a prefab one.

Found some on Amazon that don't have legs or feet. Sit right on the floor. :thumbsup2 Collapsible when not in use. And holds 200 lbs of seated weight. $50 range. Putting it on my possible list.

I started a thread on the Community Board here and a few people suggested Gaming Storage Ottomans which I had never even heard of. Hold wii guitars & all game stuff. Looking into those too.

Amazon dot com has the gaming storage ones. I forget which brand, I can try to check if I am by at area tonight. Not sure if they would be big enough for paper though. Check online to see the sizes. ????

I ended up ordering this one. $60. :goodvibes No feet to worry about weight of paper making it sag. And if I ever decide to empty it, its foldable to get it out of the way. A good thing in our small space. Will do double duty as ottoman for the couch/sleeper in my office/craft room/guest room. And supposedly holds 200-300 lbs so if someone sits on it, it should be ok.

As someone with an engineering background, I would temper your enthusiasm just a bit. :goodvibes When someone is sitting on top, their weight is distributed along the 4 vertical sides of the ottoman. But what you put inside, will only be sitting on the bottom panel. None of the sides, which are the parts built to hold weight, will be supporting the weight. Since there are no feet, the floor will support the weight, so you should be fine. Just don't let any men trying to prove their manliness pick it up to move it somewhere, because the bottom might still fall out.

But storing stuff in an ottoman is ingenious and I hope it works out for you!

No, I don't expect anyone to have to ever pick it up. Carpeted room. Drag it from here to there. I thought of that too. Engineer in the family. ;)

You might want some plastic or something under it if you're dragging it to protect the carpet;)

Yes, I use the slider things on lots of stuff around here. They are great. I already picked some up. :thumbsup2 Actually, they are under my old tote too. :rotfl:
