Is the Defender Series the best one to buy? My kids want to buy these and I want whatever one offers the most protection. Thanks
Oh I also need to add that they dock it on their I-Home to charge at night so it needs to be able to dock.

:guilty: I wish I had an otterbox on my Iphone 4s...no, I wanted the cute skin....so we entered the gate at AK and plop.....the concrete came hard and fast. I broke the screen. It is $70 to fix it if DH orders the kit...and $150 if the local company repairs it. So it is still broken 3 weeks later.

And when we got back to the room and he looked at my Iphone 3Gs ( I now use an an Ipod).....yep, he discovered a crack in it too. It is $70-80 for the company to fix it....

Oh Otterbox how I wish I had you then....whatever they cost it is worth it. I have picked out a pink one when the time comes.

I have ottorbox on my iphone 4s and I love it. yea its a little high but well worth it. I would think it would fit the ipod 4. they look alike to me.

I have the Otterbox Defender Hybrid series on all my electronics (cellphone, etc.) I've dropped it on the kitchen floor and it was fine. I highly recommend.
Check Amazon, as I've found they are less expensive there and also you will find a better variety of colors.

Just make sure when you order it that it's distributed/fulfilled by Amazon, I don't trust the other vendors.

:goodvibes

I have the Lifeproof case (different than Otter Box, but same idea). Phone has been dropped in snow, in a toilet, dropped on concrete numerous times and has come out unharmed each time. The case has little dings, but the phone itself hasn't been touched. I went with this with a 2 year old who can climb anything and loves to flush everything. Glad I did! :)

I love my Otterbox...and love that they are a Colorado company.

DH has one on his Blackberry Torch. He dropped it and the OtterBox broke. However the case didn't so I imagine that's the point:thumbsup2

We also have one on Blackberry Playbook. We didn't have one on the iPod Touch and it was dropped and the screen is shattered:headache:

So, yes I would go for the Otterbox over the broken screen any day. They do make the phone or device a little bulky but you get used to it.

ETA) I don't know what fits on the Ihome. They might have to take it off to charge their devices but really, it's pretty easy to take on and off.

I have the Otterbox Commuter and it has been great. A little less bulky and I have dropped it on the concrete a few times.

I also went with the lifeproof case. I loved that it did not add much size to the phone.

We bought an Otterbox Defender for our DD's Ipod a few months back on Walmart.com for under $25. It would have been twice the price if we bought it in the store.

I have the otterbox defender on my iphone and I have dropped numerous times, face down. Yikes! And it is fine! So worth it.

Keep an eye out on deal sites df got one for his 4s for 25$ and it is authentic.

This is true. The one we have for the playbook was 30% off around Christmas time. I just can't remember where exactly. I know I sent the link to my sister in law so she could get it for my husband. So they do go on sale.

I have a Defender for my 4s. I think it provides great protection but I am not thrilled with the quality. I received mine as a Xmas gift and by March the flap that covers the mute switch had started to tear and the rest of the rubber case seems to be stretched.

It will need replaced soon :headache: and I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

The defender is the best case otterbox makes IMO, but ANY otterbox case make it impossible to use any type of dock with it while on. If that's REALLY important to you, you'll need one of the more slim line cases, like the griffin's. DS has the otterbox defender for his iTouch, DS and I both have the defender for our iPads, DD has the commuter for her iPhone and I have a defender for my iPhone. NONE can dock with the case on. They've all protected the devices from drops.

I have a defender for my iPhone 4 and love it. I drop my phone all the time and this has saved it. I used to have a, iPhone 3 and dropped it, of course the screen cracked. I was able to upgrade that day so I got a 4 and then ran to best buy to get an otterbox defender case for it. I've had it now for 2 years and love it. It's kind of on it's last legs because I drop it so much, the plastic case is cracked in certain corners but still going strong!

I love my Otterbox for my iPad.

I just want to add that when I went to buy mine at Wal*Mart, their price was HIGHER than the manufacturers suggested retail price (as posted on the official Otterbox site). I had to argue a bit to get them to honor it.

True story...my friend has an Otterbox and accidentally ran over her phone with her car tire. The phone was totally fine. I bought one for mine the next day! I can't tell you the number of times I've dropped my phone and all is well!
