OTopic kinda.............Yet it would be amazing to see her underway on her own power agian!

Just for giggles I looked. I can't find anything where he has contracted with a yard and has actual dates. Most of the info I can find suggests the project is either abandoned or close to it, aND the web site hasnt been updated i 2 years. His trademark for Blue Star line has been set to abndoned, the yard that supposedly is building jas to make a lot of changes to even build her as they done even have a drydock let alone a contract. They launch ships sideways, and even her launch cruise changed from South Hampton to China. One of the other suppositions is that he is having cash flow problems as he is selling some per al items like his plane and his 2 most profitable business are losing big money. To the tune his net worth dropped by 1.7 billion

Hi Truck,

this is the only thing I can find now....http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/cruises/2013/02/26/titanic-ii-will-be-built/1948935/#

What I read said CSC( national Chinese shipbuilding) Jinling had a contract. I never saw anything after that. That Is why I agree with you............I am not sure its happening

Hi OKW,

We studied that is was the Enterprise, because she was to be the 1st nuke Carrier and they want to check on the systems and how the design of the over plant worked. I maybe wrong but I don't think so.

Interesting. Thinking more about what my friend had said back then, there was a lot of security around the power plant/drive system which would make sense if it was a test bed for the nuke. So you're probably right.

Interesting. I have an old friend who is a naval architect and sailed as a cheng on the banana boats in a prior life. He said that the power train was the same as the Forrestall Class carriers. Perhaps they were similar except for the teapot?
Could be. From talking to some peope, very little has changed in the actual power trains, and hulls of the carriers between the Midways and the Nimitz. It's also cheaper to copy a proven design then to reinvent the wheel.

Could be. I've seen a few different articles that said it both ways. I think that's the same yard that has to do some major improvements just to be able to build her let alone launch her.

I just saw this video of the interior if you guys are interested:

Thank you for posting MaleficentRN.
Such a damned shame, and sorry, a disgrace to allow her to be stripped and left rotting, rusting, open to the elements and wildlife getting in.
She should be treasured as a national symbol of expert design, craftsmanship, and for her awards. I hope Crystal do take care of her and restore her to her former glory, and she sails once again.
It makes me very sad to see her like that.

Thanks for the video. Yes it is a shame the way she was allowed to rot away. The interior was gutted, including one engine room and boiler room, when NCL was intending to refit her into service. They could not do it in the States, so they towed her to turkey/ Russia where they removed the interior to get rid of the dangerous materials. She was later towed back t the states and layed up in the same berth she is in now. NCL decided not to do anything with her and donated her to the conservancy group, who for years has tried to refit her into service or a floating toursit attraction.

We shall see in 9 months what happens. I have my fingers crossed!:worship:
