You will want one member of each sub-group to have their own mde account. You can then invite each of them to link to your account.
For example my sister had her wedding at wdw. On her mde account she had her, her dh and her in laws. On my mde account I had me, my dh, my ds and our parents. By linking our accounts she could plan with her family while I planned with mine but after her in-laws left we were able to plan a few days together as well.
Another party of 11 here, 6 adults and 5 kids from 5 to 15. I have everybody on my Friends&Family list and we're going to discuss FP+ choices and park days, I'll make FP+ choices for all 60 days out and I've already given my email and password to my adult daughters so they can make changes to suit their preferences.

So, since we'll be staying in a Grand Villa, or two 2BR villas (one reservation), it sounds like the easiest solution is to share my ID and password?
We stayed in a 2 br villa at OKW and we had seven people with four MDE accounts on the reservation. Everyone was linked as family and friends and it worked out fine. MB's worked flawlessly. FPs worked perfectly. Everyone had access to everything and anyone could make their own fastpasses. So, the fact that we will all be on one DVC reservation won't effect that?

When I asked for advice on these boards about how to allow others in our party to control their schedules I was offered this advice. Four of us are booked into Board Walk on rented DVC points, the rest are off site but because they're all F&F we can make FP+ selections 60 days out. Also wifey and I will have APs then and all party members can use PhotoPass without us being present.

The only glitch was Magical Express but that is a different story.
Keep in mind if you create one MDE account and link everyone to that one account, then their MagicBands get linked to your account. That means that they can never use those MagicBands again for future trips unless they use your MDE account. I would not make one MDE for everyone to share. We have taken many family trips and the best way has always been to let every family have their own MDE account.
Good luck. Your trip sounds like it was be fun.![]()
Yes. They just need to link that reservation number to their MDE accounts. If you or they have trouble linking the reservation then a call to Disney's IT department will fix it. I had to do that with our son's account since it wasn't linking properly.Sounds good -- so really, even though we will all have the same reservation #, we can have multiple MDEs, correct?
Glad it worked out for you, but isn't my situation different? Since we will all be on one reservation, won't we also all be on one MDE? Or, am I not understanding the flexibility of MDE correctly?

In the past, the presence of a name on a reservation doesn't automatically create an MDE profile. However, if you create a "friend" profile, the system is clever enough to notice and say "hey, this matches a name on the reservation - is it the same person?" And then it links the two up for you.Not sure if all are included automatically, it's originally been wifey and I listed on a resort ressie and we' add others. Come to think of it I believe anyone listed as staying at a WDW resort will be on the MDE page.
We had one group landing in the morning, one group landing in the afternoon, and my sister landing the next day. Our group had my husband, son and his two sons and we were first to check in. Instead of marking my son as checking in, they marked my sister as checking in. When we got to the second check post, just before boarding the bus, they wouldn't let our son on. We had a nice argument and I guess it was a mess since the first ME guy checked the wrong people in. Finally we got on the bus and I quickly contacted my sister about what happened. I didn't want her to arrive at the Magical Express and have her denied a ride because of the error.Great answer, but now leads me to the next question. We plan to use Magical Express as well, what problems should we expect?

We took a family trip in June with four family groups, each in their own rooms, and two of the families had free dining. We got a lot of value from sharing the dining credits. I would totally do that again. And, if you're curious, if we go for two villas, we'll probably use the Dining plan in only one of them, and share the credits across both rooms (realizing that we'll have to have a magic band from the DDP room for it to work). Make sense?
