Other Triton ship updates?

Bumping this, because I haven't caught anything further on ships 6 & 7 recently. Feels like we should hear something soon, right? For perspective, the Wish naming announcement was August 2019 for a January 2022 launch, and then the maiden voyage & initial itineraries were announced in April 2021 for June 2022 1st sailing (which was then pushed back).

I understand that the pandemic mucks everything up, but we knew the name of the Wish 29 months before planned sailing & knew the sailing dates/itinerary 14 months ahead of time. If ship #6 is launching in 2024, it's getting to be about time to name it, right?

My only other thought, other than the pandemic excuse, is that they may be waiting until after the 1st sailing of Wish. This gives them the PR buzz of the new ship, and then they can capitalize on that with the announcement of ship #6.

Thoughts?

The Wish name/announcement came out at the 2019 D23 Expo. If I remember right, at that point, we only knew about 2 new ships coming out, but they surprised us with the Wish coming out, so 3 new ships in total. I hadn't kept up much with DCL at the time, other than knowing 2 new ships were coming, but the reactions from everyone else in the crowd made it sound like most did not know about the 3rd ship.

Since we have D23 Expo coming up in September, I expect that will be when we might get new information on vessel #6. So, if they keep the "Parks" panel on the same day, we might have information on 9/11/22.

Honestly, The lower down in the ship the more likely you are to feel it. It has gotten better since they did the fixes on the engine, the vibration is still there to a degree when travelling at full speed but not as bad otherwise. It is usually very noticeable in Animators. With your room in between the Mid and Aft elevators, you will be in decent shape with that room. It really is the rooms on the back of the ship that feel it most. Hope this helps!

Oh no, I am booked aft on the Fantasy. It's my first time on the ship and I already PIF. Is it really that bad?
Which itinerary and which month? You will feel it the most on the Eastern Caribbean long hops in the rougher winter months.

I've stayed in stateroom 7650 on the Fantasy for two cruises. Never had any issues with vibration. I really like that stateroom as it does not have a connecting door to an adjacent stateroom. I have the same stateroom reserved for the 8 night Halloween cruise which sails in late October this year.

I assume we will at least gain more details on 6 during D23….

As far as itinerary goes I wouldn’t be surprised if once ship 6 launches that or wish takes over the fantasy 7 nights from Canaveral and fantasy moves to port Everglades

And then where does the Magic go?

NYC? It would be nice for at least part of the year - like the summer when teachers and families could actually go.

But there is no reason they couldn't have 2 ships out of Port Everglades. They do out of PC.

There isn’t enough business out of Miami/PEv to support 2 ships.. it’s hard enough to fill the Magic/Dream out of Miami now..

There is also rumors PEv can’t support the larger Dream class so it’s more likely the Magic will take PEv and the Fantasy will head elsewhere.

If they started doing more interesting itineraries I think it would be easier to fill the ships. Why not add some 9/10 night southerns once a month so they keep to the same 5/5/4 schedule they have otherwise.

Well, the new agreement calls for one full-time ship and then a second ship in the future. And they're creating a new terminal for Disney, too. I doubt that Disney would go through all the trouble and expense if they could only use their oldest ships there.

Port Everglades is home to at least one Oasis class ship. I really doubt they’d have issues with the Dream/Fantasy.

I think that when Hull 6 comes out it will more than likely take the 3/4 night out of Port Canaveral and the Wish will move to Port Eve. Then Hull 7 will come out it will take over the 3/4 night again moving Hull 6 to Port Eve and then they may move the Wish or another vessel to Asia.

I want a summer ship at NY so badly. That would be amazing. We'd cruise every single year.
It never seems like the NY sailings do very well. There's always available space and they keep making the season shorter and shorter.

A friend of ours who was a server on the Magic said that everyone hates working the NY sailings because guests are so nasty. They all try to get off before the Transatlantic back to the US if they can.

They didn’t do that with the Dream/Fantasy.

I was on the 4/23 sailing and stayed in cabin 7582. The vibrations didn't bother me so much. They were definitely noticeable but I didn't think much of them. I essentially went "huh, that's odd. I don't remember the ships being that bad." My boyfriend was on the cruise with me and it was his first time sailing on any cruise line. He found the vibrations severely disruptive. He had difficulties sleeping and he said it gave him a lot of discomfort while seated. I think first time anxiety amplified it for him, but I even had to admit I felt it and heard it pretty much everywhere except forward.

I did one sailing on the Magic out of NYC that was going to Port Canaveral and Castaway Cay. Going into the sailing, it was no where near capacity. The week before we sailed, a hurricane caused the previous sailing to change itinerary and go to Canada. Quite the opposite of a tropics trip, so my understanding was that Disney allowed customers to delay to the next week's sailing for free. So the next week, my friend and I are boarding and it feels like everyone else on the ship is just plain nasty. Passengers are yelling at other people's kids and sniping at their servers. I remember one couple being so mad they didn't have their own table that they refused to eat, so they just sat there with us and made it awkward for everyone else. I chalked it up to the ship generally being full of passengers whose previous week was thrown off, but our servers confided that it is always that bad when they sail out of NYC. So I don't intend to try anything out of NYC again if I can help it. And hey, I lived in Jersey for a while. I work with NYC people all the time. It's not like I'm not used to it, but it is not the magical Disney experience of happiness I'm looking for.

Not surprised about that but sorry to hear it. Heard a story from a CM on the Magic that the WDW stop was more of a problem than it was a benefit. Lots of guests getting into fights in the parks. One of the CM's that was there getting guests on busses back to the ship was hit by a guest and had to get stitches. I can't say I'm surprised they stopped offering those cruises from NY.

I never heard much about the Bermuda sailings other than the first night on the way to Bermuda the seas are insanely rough.

Yes, historically, the 2 newest ships have been ported at Port Canaveral, to maximize synergy with Walt Disney World. If the pattern from the Dream and Fantasy holds, the Wish will continue with the 3/4 night cruises from PC and Hull 6 will take over the "standard" 7 night cruises from PC. If another ship moves to Port Everglades when Hull 6 launches, it's likely to be the Fantasy.

Is it really that bad? I've been considering the repositioning cruise on Halloween because it seems to be the last interesting itinerary on the Magic for a while. Then it's just Caribbean & Bahamas sailings for a year. Meh.
