Other than WDW, where else have you gone using your DVC?

OK, we're strongly considering purchasing. Right now the kids are young and we plan to do WDW once a year. But I'm a little concerned that we may not want to go every year as they get older. Where else have you gone using DVC points?

We spent a week in Hawaii for our honeymoon using DVC points. Stayed at the Kapalua Bay, which used to be in the Conceirge Collection. Come to think of it, on the way out there we stayed in Disneyland for a few nights using points as well too.

Then last summer we stayed local and took a trip to New York City for two nights staying at the Lowe's Regency. Beautiful hotel.

Oh, have also used it for a Disney Cruise twice.

Seaworld, Aquatica, and Universal Studios so far.. on tap- Buech(sp) Gardens, wet and wild... and much more!

We've gone to Gatlinburg, TN; Sedona, AZ; and a couple of times to Vero Beach. The accommodations in Gatlinburg and Sedona were nicer than what we get at WDW for less points.

We've stayed at the DVC resort on Hilton Head and used it as a convenient jumping off point to visit Savannah as well.

Which resort at Gatlinburg did you trade into, and what was it like? We've considered trading to Gatlinburg. Is it close to town?

:lmao: :rotfl:

We used ours for 5 nights at Disneyland over New Years, as well as Vero Beach....

We've stayed at both Vero Beach and Hilton Head several times and used our points twice at Disneyland. We've also exchanged through II for a week in Hawaii but were unable to go. Instead we re-exchanged that week for one in Sedona, AZ and had a wonderful time!

Our kids are now 13 & 16. As they get older and DH and I vacation alone I can see us using our points for visits to Europe. Of course that's assuming the kids won't want to vacation with us anymore. I have a sneaking suspicion that they'll be tagging along for quite a while!

We've been to Hilton Head, Disneyland Hotel, and several of the Concierge Collection hotels - 3 in Vermont: Top Notch at Stowe, The Equinox in Manchester, and the Wyndham Hill Inn, which was close to Stratton. We also spent a weekend at The Jefferson in Washington D.C. which we loved! I think many, if not all of those, are no longer included in the Concierge Collection.

We have stayed at Lake George NY - at an Awesome 1 bedroom unit and The Grand Californian Concierge floor at Disneyland - and one year it was just my husband and I and planned it right - staying at our home resort in a Studio unit for 2 Weeks!!!!!

We have taken 9 Disney Cruise Line vacations. Of course these cruises included the islands of the Carribean but also taken the Mexican Riveria and a15 night Panama Cruise. All of those were fantastic!

On top of that we have been to HHI about 10 times, Vero Beach a couple of times, and DL a couple of times. Besides those we have traded out through II by going to Las Vegas, Bay Harbor Michigan (close to Mackinaw Island) and New York (Concierge Collection).

Looking foward we are hoping to go on a Adventures By Disney trip and finally make it to Hawaii when the DVC resort opens up there.

Thanks for asking...just typing this brought back a lot of wonderful memories and anticipation for what the future holds for us!!! :woohoo:

There are HH and VB as well as a planned DVC in CA and Hawaii. We are partial to VB, since it is so close.

You may want to consider buying enough points for a DVC trip every other year and a different timeshare for the opposite to travel other than Disney. We use Marriott for our non-Disney vacations.

In our view DVC's best value is at their resorts. Trading outside the DVC resorts is a nice perk but not as efficient use of vacation dollars as owning a 2nd timeshare.

We enjoyed a fantastic trip to Aruba in a 1 bed-room at the Renaissance Hotel for 160 DVC points plus the $95 transfer fee. It was terrific!

Best wishes,
Dave

Like many, we've done the Grand Californian at Disneyland, Vero Beach, and Hilton Head (twice). We've also traded out for Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica (which I think you can't trade for now?), the Mauna Lani in Hawaii, South Seas Resort on Captiva, and also done 2 Disney Cruises (eastern & western Caribbean). It's a terrific way to take a vacation!

How was the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego? Was it hard to get your dates? Thinking of putting in for a trade in late 2009.

We have used points to stay at Disneyland Paris twice, a Disney Cruise and a week in Devon in the UK

Here are some photos of Devon
