This may be blasphemous. . . but being new to this and only googling "Disneyland forums" and this site coming up first, do you guys have any other Disneyland/forum sites that you also frequent?

You guys may be interested to know that Disneyland staff frequent fan sites like these. . . for me being new, that's kind of nice to know how much Disney cares!

The news story can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT4l8qZfu04

I read mouseplanet, laughingplace and micehat as well as this board, but this is my favorite. The people are so nice here...almost like family.

I've learned so much from this forum. HydroGuy's tips are great...so are Darkbeer's on laughingplace...and I love reading the DL updates on mouseplanet. Some of the photography is breathtaking in the trip reports on micechat.

I love reading everyone's trip reports on all 4 of them.

Oh yeah...mousesavers and allears are 2 more websites that are very informative.

haha, i only visit this and micechat...

micechat = a lot of complainers :P

I was thinking the same thing:rotfl: Though I do like to go read it, I don't post there. They did have alot of information on the DCA expansion (along with the complaining).

In the past I have participated in all the sites Bouncy mentioned. The only one I visit daily is this forum as I have come to prefer it for the reasons listed below. Here is my take on the sites:

1. DIS DLR

DIS has a higher proportion of DLR fans who are non-locals than any of the others. This gives a better perspective on multi-day visits, hotels, and dining.

DIS has a higher proportion of people with significant WDW experience. This provides a better perspective on Disney visits in general.

DIS has a more fun atmosphere than any of the other DLR forums.

FWIW, it is my observation that DIS has a higher proportion of female participants. If I had to guess I would say two-thirds of DIS DLR participants are female. This in contrast to other boards which appear to me to have two-thirds male participants. Maybe that explains why DIS discussions are so much more cordial here than some of the aggressive "discussions" you see on other boards?

Has by far the strongest and best WDW forum. Also has the best DLR Paris forum made up mostly of European Disney fans with WDW experience.

2. MiceChat

Made up much more of locals and diehard regular DLR visitors. Much less WDW knowledge than DIS. Much stronger on DLR than on WDW.

Knowledge of DLR minutiae is extensive. Knowledge of DLR history is extensive.

Opinions about DLR policies, direction and plans are very strong.

Has a vocal minority that frequently tends toward rudeness.

Has lots of good editorial contributors - especially Al Lutz on their sister site MiceAge.

I visit MC a few times a week and read Al Lutz and Kevin Yee (for his WDW articles) regularly. I post there on occasion but mostly lurk.

3. MousePlanet

Similar to MiceChat in all of the above. Used to be a strong site but has lost ground to MiceChat over the last few years, IMO. I used to visit MP daily and now mostly I check out their useful weekly park updates on DLR and WDW. I do not go to their DLR forum very often.

There is a connection between MiceChat/MiceAge and MP that I do not completely understand. Apparently some of the founders of MP (i.e., Al Lutz) left to found MiceChat/MiceAge for some reason about 4-5 years ago.

4. Laughing Place

I have been mostly a lurker over there, but their forum interface is frustrating to use. I rarely go over there anymore.

So HydroGuy, many times as I read postings from this forum, I wonder what people do for a living. After reading numerous detailed postings from you, I have decided that you are a systems analyst. Am I right? Maybe we could start a thread and guess your occupation. What do you think?
BTW, you do a great job and have helped tons of people make the most of their trips. I know that I have used many of your tips. Thanks from all of us who are DISers!

Another one that is fairly recent that is geared toward Canadians is disneymagic.ca. It still needs quite a bit of work but it is starting to shape up to be a nice site!

I own a business that develops software for systems analysis :lmao:. That obvious, huh?

The systems we deal with are fluid dynamic and thermodynamic in nature. Both DLR and WDW are customers of ours, BTW.

yeah, your right... but MiceChat is more of a ranting place while here, its more of a people asking question...

Disboards is more geared to WDW, 80% of the CM in the CM section is WDW CMs. :P But i still have my helpfulness in Disboards more than MiceChat. I just read the rants and laugh about it... :P and post in the Breakroom section...

iono, im the helping type... help as much as i can... ^_^

Oh my gosh, that made me laugh!! Yes, it's THAT obvious. Since I used to be a computer programmer, that's usually the response I get, too. Guess I'm a little anal-ytical!

I agree, Trey. We really appreciate all the helpful input you have here. :thumbsup2

Of course, I practically live on the DIS, but I also visit Laughingplace & Mouseplanet. Once in awhile I visit Miceage. I enjoy the other forums but mostly stay here on the DIS.

Some of the posters on the other forums tend to look for the negative, which is understandable since many are locals, where here on the DIS we focus more on helping each other make our Disneyland Resort visits more magical. :)

WOW!!! Does it take a systems analysis person to know one, I'm wondering? :confused3 :lmao: Well whatever, you sure know your stuff. :woohoo:

I also lurk on the other sites, and ocassionally will post something. But generally, they are way too deep and negative for me.

I do enjoy reading Miceage...especially Al Lutz articles.

I don't like posting on Mouseplanet because they are always moving your posts there. It feels overly nitpicky to me.:confused3

FWIW, I should have added for those who did not figure it out already that my profession is the source of my HydroGuy handle. :cool2:

Just some trivia for you all.....the first few years of the boards we did not have a DLR section, and Laughingplace was our official "sister" board for DL content ! I actually hold the record for the oldest thread on Laughingplace (the "hey Doobinator" thread in the general section) :)

I agree with the majority on my other board habits, but I also visit "Jim Hill Media" weekly, and "Screamscape" weekly. From Screamscape I follow the links to a couple Vegas boards.

Intercotwest.com is for DLR, while intercot is for WDW. I would love to find a DLR info site that is on par with allearsnet for WDW.
