any word on when the other half of pop will be finished or what they are doing with it?????????? We would love to go back in 06 of its going to be ready!

No plans have been announced at the moment. I would guess that if Disney faces a extraordinarily busy time in the next few months they may bring forward some plans but with the special packages being offered for fall I doubt we'll hear anything this side of Christmas.

Disney's reluctance to finish pop has less to do with filling the rooms than it does with staffing the place. The resorts are doing fairly well and in the few years it would take to complete the resort the rooms will be needed, however with Orlando's low unemployment rate there are not enough workers to fully staff the place.

I'm wondering if they are not workking on them right now??? I saw a recent picture (taken in May) posted of the lake, and you could see them buildings in the distance. I could see the 00 and 10 big signs on them denoting the decade. I don't think those were up when I saw them in an earlier picture, were they?

I could be wrong; won't be the first time! However, judging by the hard time people have been having booking rooms this summer, the extra rooms could be used!

This is encouraging news. i went in april of 04 and it looked like it had been struck by the Great Depression :rotfl2:

We could see it from our room when we were there a few weeks ago and I don't think I saw them doing anything to it. It was a ghost town :earseek:

I'm interested in this also. WWII and the '40's are DH's hobby, so as soon as it's ready, I plan on booking two connecting rooms at Pop for us (we're starting to outgrow the deluxe rooms, and can't afford a suite every trip! LOL!). I think he's love it!

remember some of the area where Disney is has not been rebuilt from the hurricanes.

So to complete with the demand Disney would have to pay top price. This is not going to happen.

SSR is not a WDW resort but a DVC resort - Disney will get there money back out of SSR quickly.

Until all of the central area of Fl is completely rebuild - to complete PC would be bad taste.

From what I understand, there aren't any "active" plans to continue building the ""Legendary Years" (00s, 10s, 20s, 30s, 40s)" phase ~

Here is some concept art of what the courtyard between the 1930's buildings will one day look.

We were there two weeks ago and they are definitely not doing any work on it. The 00 and 01 were on there when I was there last year. :mickeybar

A bus driver taking us from Pop to epcot a few weeks back told us they had changed their minds and were changing the other half of Pop to be "Pop Century: The Depression Years" and that it was already completed :rotfl: The empty half-built buildings sure do look depressing!

I heard - think it was here - that Disney might make the rest of Pop Century more like the Family or children suites that other resorts have. So a value resort for families with more than 4.

Wouldn't that require a change in the design of the buildings? or are you basically saying that each "room" would be the size of two rooms in the rest of POP?

There is a rumor that some of the rooms for the legendary years will be redisigned as said above. Two rooms will instead be one with these rooms being marketed as family suites. Not all of the rooms or even all of the buildings will have this feature.

I wonder what the rooms look like inside. I mean are they finished with all the walls or what? Where's Tyler with the good 'ol POP history lesson?!
