Hi, we are planning a three night trip to wildwood Nj and wonder if anyone has recommendations for a good hotel in that area? I have been looking at lots of different sites for hotel but am confused about which area there is the best for families? North wildwood, wildwood crest..... All the sites say minutes to the beach but we want to be close to everything! We would like to be within walking distance to the beach/boardwalk/waterpark etc. Thanks in advance if anyone has any recommendations/tips!!:goodvibes

Hi
We like both North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. Wildwood Crest has such a huge beach, that it takes forever to walk to the water. We've stayed at Athens II in North Wildwood. It's all the way up at the end and the water is a lot closer. You don't have to walk as far. Also stayed at the Aloha in North Wildwood. We liked that too, but the beds were kind of hard. We stayed at North Beach Condiminiums quite a few years ago and it was really nice. Then there's the Mali Kai. It's around 19th street. They're Condos. All of these places have pools. We're trying to decide where to stay this year for just a couple nights. It's getting really late to get a reservation (at least for the dates that we want. Just remembered that we stayed a Water's Edge. That's a motel, also right on the beach. Also, in North Wildwood is Roman Holiday. That was a pretty nice place. You can google wildwood new jersey rentals and see what you come up with. Good luck finding a place. We really like Wildwood, since we've been going there for a long time.:goodvibes Just remembered that The Matador is right at the beginning of the boardwalk. We've never stayed there, but friends have and they said it was ok. The places in North Wildwood would be too far to walk to the boardwalk, except for Roman Holiday. I think that's pretty close.

We've stayed at Royal Canadian. My parents always stay at either Beach Terrace or Bolero. Royal Canadian is definitely showing it's age. But, still was clean & couldn't hear any outside noise while sleeping, since the air conditioner is in the bedroom.

We prefer to stay in the middle of the boardwalk - can head in either direction then when we get onto the boardwalk. The one pitfall is that it's noisy, lot's of partying. But, I have a feeling that's all of Wildwood! We were just talking about where to go tonight. Last year we didn't do Wildwood til late Sept, so the crowd had settled down. May go back to OC again this summer.

I have no advice for Wildwood, other than I won't take my kids on their boardwalk at night. There are tons of fights, lots of drinking, and it is very crowded. We spend our summer vacations at Ocean city, NJ. It's a dry town, although there are liquor stores right on the outskirts of town. The boardwalk there is definitely more geared towards families.

We usually stay at the Sahara in North Wildwood at the left end of the boardwalk. Again I could say tripadvisors also. My son got lost in Wildwood on the boardwalk at 5 years old they were very helpful and walked back to the room (never thought of that, lol) I have never seen a fight. I have also have stayed in Wildwood and the Crest.

My kids don't like Ocean City and there really isn't a very big boardwalk. I personally love Sea Isle but I think that is more of an adult beach.

we like the ala moana hotel its right at the end of the boardwalk near the aqua beach hotel. and as for rowdy behavior on the boardwalk i've really never seen anything. there is a police presence but you would really have to take notice. imho wildwood is so much better than oc

We usually go every year, but skipped it this year (to go to Disney instead!)

I have always stayed in the Crest... a little quieter.

Port Royal is hands down my favorite...really nice pool and feels like a real "hotel" instead of a jersey shore motel. The Adventurer is literally at the end of the boardwalk, so very close to everything. I can also recommend the Waikiki, Pier 6600, and the Pan American. I have stayed at all of them. Keep in mind NONE of them will have beach chairs, unbrellas, etfc. on the beach - you'll need to bring your own or rent on the beach (expensive), That being said, you don't want to stay too far off the beach if you're going to be dragging your beach stuff. And the beach is HUGE in the crest so it's a pretty long walk down to the water.

I've always felt safe on the boardwalk at night. My son is little, so of course we're mostly in kiddie-ride land and back at the hotel fairly early. Here's a link to some of the boardwalk info www.moreyspiers.com and there's some hotel info in there too.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions -

And don't forget, when you go there, you will be "DOWN THE SHORE", not "at the beach" - it's a Jersey thing!
