OT-Why do the toy manufacturers put those stupid twisty things on their toys?

Ughhhh! I hate those things. I spent about and hour of time just untwisting yesterday, my fingers hurt. The Barbie Princess Genieve had alot of them and so did the Mickey mouse Clubhouse and Figurines. There must be a better way..

I cut them with scissors and it was still a PITA. He got 8 Little People sets and a ton of other items with the dang things. Grrrrr!

I am convinced it is from the Toy manufactures Head honchos who do not have children who want to torture us poor parents by spending endless amounts of time untwisting and unwinding these dummy things while our children wait in the background (usually crying by this point!!!) Torture, I say, pure torture!!!

We faced it too! I ended up literally ripping boxes apart just to get to the darn wires! It was miserable! I'm really surprised that no one has sued some of these toy company's (and packaging manufacturers/designers) because of potential cuts (and swallowing the wire bits). I know that my dd4 would just try to open some of the packages herself and would end up cutting her hands if I didn't stop her and just do it myself. It is really out of control!

DS got a Fisherprice singing animal train. It took 25 minutes to get it out of the box, not to mention that every car was wired down but so was every animal in it.
My BIL was put incharge of getting it out of the box and half way through getting it out, he went and got a beer and annouced to us all that it was never coming out of the box.
I got DD the animal train too and spent at least twenty minutes getting it out of the box only to discover that the train didn't work- it was broken! Grrr!!! I only hoped that Target would take it back because I destroyed that box getting the train out! They did take it back, but of course, are sold out of the trains, so I have to wait until they get more in stock before I can get DD another one and have to go through that box nightmare all over again...:sad2:

I  hate  those  things !!!!

I certainly hope that the process of putting them on is automated...can you just imagine some poor assembly worker twisting them one by one?

Totally agree! DS got a lot of trucks and cars with these stupid things on them. Not just one or two, but like six to ten for one toy.

LOL...I say we all go over to the sadastic rat who decides how to package these things house and take a bunch of twist ties linked together and trap him in his own dwelling. Oh and cant forget the industrial tape to seal his windows shut.

HInt for getting those flat sewn plastic things out of My Little Pony's hair and other doll hair grab one side with your teeth and the other with whatever hand you normally use then rip in opposite directions.;) hey it works :lmao:

I used some very bad words yesterday when opening the Biggest Littlest Pet Shop. I hope those littlest pets had their ears covered!

After Christmas Eve, we weere waaay better prepared on Christmas day with Wire Cutters! And i have to agree that Fisher Price is just AWFUL with all that stuff!!

OK, does anyone elses fingers ache today? I think I may be crippled for life. I mean, I understand anti-theft devices, but does ever stinkin little tiny tiny piece of every toy have to be strapped down with more security than a skydiver's gear? I bought a box of little princess dolls....I think we paid $5 for 7 dolls....each doll had two sets of twisty things on it....what thief is going to spend that kind of time getting out a doll worth about .80 cents?

Sorry, rant over.

I figured out why they put them in there.. it's a giant conspiracy.
See.. the "Players" are the toy companies.. the twist tie companies and the alcohol beverage industry (see where this is going?)
The twist ties make a profit from the obscene amount of money the toy manufacturers pay them to buy 9 billion twist ties to put them in the toys.. the toy manufacturers get kickbacks from the alcohol companies, who are making money because the twist ties make people who might normally NEVER drink think that mimosas for breakfast are a fantastic idea. Hee hee.....

I use a pair of wire cutters to nip them at this point. It usually only takes about 30 seconds to get them out! But curse those that are screwed into the box!!!

Hmmm I think you may be onto something here. I say we start a campaign:banana:

That's why I love DVD's and cd's(among various tech gear), only annoying part is the plastic

Don't forget the Barbies too.

We had the wires, the plastic ties & the Barbie hair sewed to that plastic who-ha & then having to take all the little elastics off of her (or Ken or their friends) hoping my 10 month old didn't get to them before us.

I do wish I was the one who invented those ties.
