Where would you suggest to eat with children while visiting Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree? No fast food, a nice sit-down, kid friendly place near Rockefeller Center ;)

Thanks a bunch :)

I can give you a few names of places we have enjoyed.
You can view all menus on www.menupages.com and look under west 40's.
John's Pizzeria.....this is inside an old church, very cool inside
Havana Central....check for a restaurant.com cert (the one on 46th)
Angus McIndoe.....very nice Jr menu, takes reservations
Have fun!

mars2112 is a fun restaurant for kids (it is overpriced ofcourse). Aliens (not scary) walk around while the kids eat...you take a UFO ride to go to the eating area which is themed like Mars...there is also a game room. Also, I second John's pizza...great spot!

HOw funny!!! I was going to recommend:
Ellen's Stardust Diner
Mars 2112
John's Pizzeria

We've been to all three! Great places to take kiddos. Enjoy!

Serendipity is another great place to eat, you will NEED resies. It's not that close to Rockeflle center, IMHO it's worth the LOOONG walk or cab ride. If it doen't work fo you I also concur that Marrs 2112 is great

Ellen's Stardust Diner is an absolute blast!

Is there a way to see the menu for Mars 2112? I have looed all over their website but I don't see a menu. Thanks!

Def John's! :thumbsup2 We go there a lot! Never had a bad meal or bad service. We go there every time we are in the City. Very good prices as well. And great location. My DS loves Mars 2112 :confused3 but we don't like it at all. Expensive for what you get; food is not good. Atmosphere is fun for kids though. And they have great sinks in the bathrooms!

We love John's pizza on west 44th street. It is reasonably priced and the food is great!

just another thought....pricey, tourist trap, but if your kids are older, Jekyl and Hyde's is fun. We took our DD9 and a cousin (13) and they loved it. Wouldn't take the DD3 though.....too scary!

I was in NYC for the first time this weekend. We ate at Juniors, right at Times Square (close to Rockefeller Center). (Across from the Marriott at Times Square)

It was quite good.

Very famous for their cheesecake. Have heard good things about it. Have never been there yet. Must go on a future visit!

Is that still open? I thought it closed down. DH and I were hunting around for info on it to go back and visit (he took me there on my first trip to the city when we were dating). Loved that place! The AC reminds er...reminded :sad1: me of J&H.

i would stay away from mars 2112 or jekyll and hydes. terrible food--too touristy.

john's pizza in 44th is great. would also recommend virgils bbq in the time square area or johnny utahs on 51st right in next to 75 Rock. don't forget to try the newly opened magnolia bakery on 6th and 49th.

virgil's is our favorite but op was looking for someplace to go with the kids. i think the others, myself included, were posting places the kids might enjoy a bit more.

Junior's is very good and easy to get to. Jekyll & Hyde is a lot of fun with surprisingly good food! There is an "entertainment" charge to get in; was around $3.00/pp last time I went.
