OT: Where do FL residents go.....

I love the captiva area! it's sooo nice there. We love going to the Bubble Room! We stay at South Seas Resort (used to be Plantation).

That was so sad when the croc hunter died :(

we were there last year it was the Saturday that the Crocodile Hunter was killed. Everyone on the island was talking about it, it was crazy, every restaurant, bar, beach chair, all people were talking about was the Crocodile Hunter.

My family was all devastated when we heard the news. :sad1: We loved watching his shows together, and I had just watched his movie a couple of days before with the kids. He was so young and full of life, it didn't seem possible !! His memorial ceremony was one of the saddest things I have ever seen.

I have a shirt from the Bubble Room! I once wore it when I went to MGM, and the security guard said "What's the Bubble Room" and we were talking about Captiva/Sanibel for a while.

And yea, I loved the Croc Hunter, it was horrible what happened. Always strange watching the reruns on TV now

Not camping though. I'm kind of snobby when it comes to camping. I have to have hot showers, flushing toilets and toilet paper 24/7 (and of course electricity so I can use my curling iron)

I don't think that's snobby camping, I think there's another word or category for it (I'd be in it too, I'm the kind of camper that stores sleeping bags and camping equipment where spiders can't get into them - can't stand the thought of stretching my feet down into a place a spider has already set up a campsite).

I don't camp in other places as much as I used to do when I was younger, but I've camped all over the US, out west being my favorite. As for vacations, it's been a while since I've traveled in the US outside of Florida, I really need to stop planning all these Disney trips...lol.

OK, now I'm concerned. Our plan is to move to Florida so ALL my husbands vacation days can go to trips outside of Florida and still visit Disney regularly.

What state is Chactawhatsis Bay in?
:rotfl: :rotfl:
Choctawhatchee (pronounced choc-taw-hat-chee) is here in Florida. It is near Destin in the panhandle. It's close to Eglin AFB and about 40 miles from our house. Perfect distance for a weekend getaway.

You can visit their website http://www.au.af.mil/42abw/42svs/lakepippin.html. To stay at the campground, you must be military (active, reserves, or retired) or a DoD employee.:thumbsup2

Happy Camping

We have only had our Pop Up for one year so have been doing mostly Florida State Parks and the WDW Fort. We also stayed Labor Day weekend at a campground (owned by the Georgia Power Corp.) on Lake Oconee in Georgia- you can spit from the camper into the lake! The kids played in the shallow water right at our campsite- pretty cool. We get to Michigan about every two years to stay with family. It is so beautiful up there in the summer- we hope to one day (retirement) be able to stay up there every summer, and winter down here- maybe work on Mackinac Island April to October. I once spent a week camping through the Michigan UP (Upper Peninsula for those who don't know) when I was a teenager:) . WOW! It was so beautiful that I want to take my DH and 2 DS's to do it- just have to get comfortable enough with the new camper to make the cross country trip. The Copper mines, waterfalls, Porcupine Mountains, the Copper Harbor Bears, Norwegians and their saunas- totally cool!!!!:)
