Sorry to be OT. I was thinking of getting my 3y/o the vsmile tv video game system and the pocket vsmile system, I would like some opinions on this, it seems like he would really like something like this. Can you use the cartridges from the tv one for the pocket one or are they different for each. I looked on the website and it didnt really say.

TIA dissers!:goodvibes

We have both, the cartridges work in both systems, you can also plug the pocket one into the TV, if you get the pocket make sure you get the charger, it goes through regular batteries fast.

I really don't see a need for both. We have the Pocket VSmile and as the poster above stated, you can plug that into your tv. We've got about 5 cartridges and a charger. I'm actually putting it in a garage sale next month because my DS6 hasn't use it in about a year. I think I played it more than he and his brother did.

We've had the v-smile system for a year now and my 4 and 5 year olds really like it. It's a "rainy day" toy, so I make sure they don't use it all the time so that they look forward to playing with it! We thought about the pocket, but I read several reviews about the screens blanking out, so we nixed that idea. I found the vsmile art studio half price at Target the other month so they're getting that for Christmas this year. They don't even know it exists, so I think they'll be really excited!

Consider the leapster....if you want it to plug into the TV,consider the Lmax. I think the games in the Leapster system are more varied and educational and intuitive....the vsmile games are very repetitive and flat. Some leapster cartridges also have little videos and stories. The range of games goes from pre-k to 4th/5th grade and have different levels of difficulty, and multiple games per cartridge. The Letter factory has an awesome video that teaches letters and their sounds and seems to be a favorite. My daughter has been playing since she was 3...got her own after she wouldn't leave her brother's alone! Just something else to consider!

I may get blasted here but I would recommend something else. My sons got the first version the year it came out for Christmas. It worked great for a few months and the boys loved it but my youngest stuck a game in wrong and it never worked right again... Also, the wires short out very easily (just me moving it from one place to another when cleaning). As for the pocket... my youngest got it for C'mas last year. It worked well itself and yes, all cartridges are interchangeable. However, we went through several different chargers until I finally bought a new one again and put the whole kit and kaboodle (including 20 games) on ebay a few months back. So, our experience with the system itself was not so great... I would recommend trying or at least looking into the Leapster as suggested before. Good luck!

We have had problems with both of our hand held v-smiles. You can charge them for a week and the screen will still not come on. You can hear the music but cannot play it. However, the v-tech system that plugs into the t.v. works great.

I say skip V-Smile had both and they both died on us. We have the Leapster L-Max for a long while now...and it has lasted. Even with lots of bumps and bruises...

I think it is more educational and can last more years and a better investment. JMO.

We have had both. The pocket one died within the year we bought it. The tv one held up for about a year or so. We have tons of games for them, but I don't know if I want to purchase another unit just for it to break again.
