I was reading about it and it sounds good but I am totally scared about giving them my debit/ credit card info..
Has anyone joined this?
If yes, is it a good thing or a bad experience?

Any input will be so helpful.

I've been a member for years and have never had any issues w/ my credit/debit cards. It's safe!

I've also been a member for years and never had a problem. Earned quite a bit of money for my kids college too.

Been a member since just about Day One and had absolutely no problems, only benefits! It was really nice to buy the car I really wanted AND get $150 for doing so!!!

How were you able to do that?

Upromise is super secure. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm a member--only use it to get "bonus" money. Unfortunately, they can't track Walmart, Target, or HEB purchases or I'd have a ton more money set aside.

I joined in June 2002 and have earned over $400 to date. And you know what--it's real money! You can request to have the money sent to you directly ($100 minimum), and they'll send you a check. It takes about 8 weeks, but it's nice to be able to invest in your OWN way.

The best part was when we went to NYC on vacation, ate at a HORRIBLE restaurant, then got home and found we'd earned $5 on the meal without even knowing it. :rotfl: It was great to actually get SOMETHING good out of that horrible meal.

I joined in 9/2001 after reading about it in a parenting magazine. We have about $200 in Upromise savings, mostly from groceries. Unfortunalty, the type of 529 accounts we have for our children do not directly link to Upromise.

I joined in 2001 and I have earned over $500. I don't go out of my way to shop with their affiliates, but I tend to anyway. You can request that they send you a check that you can use to invest any way you like, but I recently opened 529 accounts that I was able to link online to my Upromise account. Upromise will automatically deposit the funds into the 529 accounts each quarter, plus you can add $ to the 529 accounts also. If you find it difficult to spare the $ to put aside for college, this is an easy way to get your foot in the door. Every penny you save now earns interest that will offset your expense later. It's very safe and we have had no problems. I have no issues with linking it to my credit card because I won't be liable if security is breached. I don't link it to my debit card though, just in case. We use Mobil anyway, I had a Citibank card already, which I changed to a Upromise card and we also use the grocery discount cards, which earn us between .25 and .50 for every trip to the store. Sounds like peanuts, but it adds up! It's fairly effortless once you register, so why not?

In order to have it deposited into your 529 did you have to contact who you have the 529 with or Upromise directly?Thank you.

I closed my Smith Barney accounts and opened up NYSaves accounts. NYSaves is affiliated with Upromise - that is why they dump the $ in it so easily. ;) I live in NY so it makes sense anyway - my contributions are NYS tax free. Even if you request a check once every 6 months to deposit in whatever account you have now, it only takes a few minutes. Check out upromise.com for the details.
